Thread: SWG Forum Ranking Changes...
Orellius, they wiped the forums and removed all accounts when SWG launched, and registering your game account and registering on the forum weren't concurrent, you had to re-create your forum account in addition to signing into the game, setting up your billing anddownloading the patches(along with hitting logina half million times to get in on launch day). I myself registered my game on a different day altogether then when I registered for the post launch forum. My pre-launch forumregistration was back in June of 2001 just a couple months after the forums opened. At most people will have 14 months, plus some changeat this point (June 2003 - August 2004). And when the new system gets implemented on the forum it will be a long while before anyone hits those higher rankings time frame requirements.

um, this is kinda bunk
my registration date now says July 2, 2003
i registered in like March, easily. Heck, the game was out before july 2 lol, i had to have been registered minimum June 26, launch day
i should be at about 17-18 months now, but the date is wrong

this is somewhhat incorrect. My account is still the same as my original forum account, from when the forums first opened back in march 2003 or something. I have never had to change it, i simply added the CD key to my current account and my billing info.
A while back, maybe 2 months, my registration date was showing as march or april 2003, which it should have. Within the past couple of months though, something has changed. Especially because i started playing on launch day, early in the wee morning that night. Which was June 26 2003, so why does my date now show July 2?
As to why the dates would change a few months ago, there is no reason I know of, but as to the forum wipe I refer you to others who were here pre beta. The forums were wiped, and yes your station Account was not removed (which is where you modify subscriptions, register CD-Keys and the like), but the Station.com account and the SWG Forum accounts are two seperate entities that use the same authentication username and password. My Station.com account is the same as I used years ago to register EQ, so you are correct the account signon information did not change, but, the forums did.
Prior to the launch the forums were all plain text, no edit button for anyone and there were only about 6 boards. With launch, however, they released thelithium forumfor SWG (which other SOE forums were using) and created all the galaxy, profession, tech support and other boards. And yes I started playing several days before what is shown my forum account date also, because I didn't feel like bothering with the forums at first, I just wanted to play. As such I was suprised myself when I came back to the forum and had to re-register (which I don't recall the exact method, but was something along the lines of clicking a button and setting a username and profile for the forum after signing into my Station.com account).

I think its a great idea. Perhaps this will encourage people like me who have had a year on the boards but don't post to post. I just don't see the point sometimes in putting anything up here that's sometimes been said like a thousand times.
It strengthens (supports)an idea and helps to let the devs know that there are more people that support this idea. The more people that post on it, the better chance it'll get noticed whether it's already been said or not.
THen dont post it.. simple.

what is the current ranking status? and when can I edit? and When do I become a Veteran?
You need to become a Veteran to edit. You need 6 months to become a Veteran.

ETA is the "next couple weeks"there is a scheduled lithium update soon and we will most likely wait for that.
Good show. Looking forward to seeing what you've come up with!
If the update includes improvements to searching (multi-word strings, more meaningful"satisfaction" calculation), I'll be even happier.
If it fixes the problems with repeated login and search attempts... well. That would be very muchappreciated.
It would also be nice if "GarVa" were added to the list of names in the Dev Tracker!
Just thought I'd mention my little wish list. ![]()
