Thread: In-Concept Open Discussion
I was just reading in the in testing forum about the AT-AT test that they ran and this is the only place I could find to post my thoughts on it. I'm going to start with a quote from Luke in ESB. "That armor is too strong for blasters."I know this is gonna sound kinda negative, but there is no reason why personal weapons, such as hand blasters, portable rocket launchers, flamethrowers, and katanas will actually take down an at-at walker. A thermal detonator I will believe, if thrown into the engine core of the walker, which requires you to get up to it's underbelly to do so, see Luke in ESB. The snowspeeders had to resort to steel tow cables, and they had to make 5 passes around the things to get enough cable strength to foul them up. Even the turbo laser turrets had a hard time eating up those at-at's. As I recall there were only four attacking echo base, roughly 8-12 at-st's and a whole host of imperial snow troopers. The whole thing is talking scale. personal weapons just aren't going to do a whole lot tovehicles that are in the walker scale range. Any one who has played SW second Ed, knows that.
Acutally I might give rocket launchers a bit more of a benifit of the doubt. Acid weapons would probably do the most damage, due to it disolving the parts of the walker (think of an at-at stepping out of it's foot)

BTW, I want to bring up the idea of apartments again because I just saw a nice row of apartment buildings on the border of Theed and it looked like it would be so fun to live in them. There were agro NPCs and stuff walking around. They could be like the negihborhood thieves that everybody who lives there has to deal (but have fun) with. No one ever commented on this in the first place, so what do you think?
The addition of a number of other planets is not a bad idea, but I submit the idea of climate differences on the exsisting planets. Especially on some of the planets with mountains. Ever been to a high mountain. They all have snow. Don't allow any player cities to exsist in these regions and make these regions worth going to (quests and loot). Also, maybe some sort of HAM costs for being subjected to this type of environment for a long period of time. This will force players into really calculating what is what that they would be doing in the area, and have them get out quicker.

Just to add to these already good comments, I would desperately like to see your faction rank above your head when overt. This will possibly put a bigger target on you when in PVP, but that is how it should be. Also,it would create an element of respect when overt with other players of the same faction.
