The path to force sensitivity should certainly be a known. The frustrating hologrind left many in this game wanting and a nice break from the time sink might be just the nugget to bring many back.

Should the method of becoming Force Sensitive (not the path from Force Sensitivity to Jedi) be a mysterious, unknown mechanic orone that is visible and known to everyone?
Simple answer. Yes. I cannot stand it much longer, the seeing a jedi every 5 minutes, it torches my whole roleplaying attitude in the first 30 minutes of being online. After all they are an extinct religion between episodes IV and V, which is where the game takes place.

Better idea, go in the database, do a sort/find all the jedi's and hit the delete key, take all jedi related information and hit delete. Jedi jedi jedi jedi jedi. KOTOR, Jedi Academy.... Star Wars in the "Time Frame" where the game is supposed to be = not that many jedi. But that is no longer the case and has been stated that continuity is out the window. How about that 10 min shuttle wait everyone feeling immersed yet?.
I want it known so I dont follow the path, so I dont waste my time, so I can do what I want in a game.. I want content not a mission based system, I want a real GCW.
How about this for starters. Or better yet in soe fashion, make the customer Pay more money to play on a Jedi Only Server!. Thats a concept. You did it with EQ for support, why not do it here? There's a money making ploy for ya. Then you can have all the jedi content to your little hearts desire.
Oh well I'll probably get ban for my post waa, 15 bucks a month I paid for the easiest game I have ever played online.

Why this discussion? No joke, I am serious: Just make it a "normal" profession player can chosse from start. Any other way is just a time sink to hold customers to the game. Be honest and open it for everybody, just with the current rules and limits.

from reading tru these pages and such it seems to me that its evident that everyone wants the path to be known. except those thatare already jedi which i can see due to jedi suppose to be rare ben in actuallity most wan to be jedi and are tired of the holo grinding thru proffesion and rather not have that any longer.
it should definatly be quest based and prehaps based on an indivisuals accomplishments i.e badges eaerned and time spent dedicated to playing a profession. but again the quests SHOULD NOT be as difficult as as the death watch bunker or corvette dur to those quest were designed for a group and if they were that hard i'm a afraid other than those that are already jedi will be the only ones in the game due to noone will be able to complete the quest if made that hard unless there a person on the servers that can solo the corvette or deathwatch bunker without an exploit of some kind and i do not know any that can solo those quests. so yes it should be hard but not that dang hard especially those that are hybrid or crafting proffesions

I think it has to be mysterious.
There are a couple of reasons why.
1.) Remember the days when you would talk to an NPC and he would mention Luke Skywalker or the Force and you would jump out of your seat, thinking this might be a clue?
2.) Remember the days on the Jedi forums where talking to Nobles in the desert seemed like the way to go, whole webpages and forums were created on these theories.
3.) The "dead time" between the launch of Publish 10 and the first discovery of the new path will be a time of excitement and everyone that asks for something to "do" will have it...go find out how to become Force Sensitive.
4.) The mystery will appease the Jedi haters and allow the community to heal some....I think this is very important...I am a Jedi myself but I want to see the community as a whole come back together not be further segmented (even if outcry over this is truly warranted there will be outcry).
5.) You Devs have said it yourself. Lay out a path to a group of players and they will take it to it's end and they will find better and better ways to do so as time goes by.
In the end I think that you need to make it mysterious but not frustrating. You need to make the path grueling but fun. This is really an opportunity to show what you can do....World of WarCraft seems to be not doing so well in Beta, SOE's own release EQ2 is on the horizon, and JtL could affect the way the game is played greatly. The draw of Force Sensitivity, in particular seeking out the method, could be a great draw to the ground game.
Just my opinion.

Well this sort of threw me bacause i thought becoming force sensitive was a moot point with the force sensitive tree. I figured you do the quest, get the xp, then spend it in the FS tree, and this makes you force sensitive. And after you got the 24 FS boxes then you do the padawan trials and start on the jedi trees. Why do we have to have all this complex stuff involved. Use the K.I.S.S principle ...Keep It Simple Stupid.... Now just bacause you use a simple system does not mean it will not be hard. The dificultyshould lie in doing these quests to fill out your FS tree.

Hologrinding wasn't a mystery for long. I pay 15 dollars a month so I should know how to be FS just like they did.

I would prefer it to be known. I have subscribed and played a year already and would be awfully frustrated if I had to go back to the days of guessing what to do to become jedi. I think the story should be interesting (KOTOR) and I don't mind it taking a while (i.e. timers between quests) but please make it a known process so some of us casual players have a chance of "living the dream." If not a known process at least give us some type of "force sensitivity" guage to let us know if we are even on the right track or if our actions are just a waste of time.
My two cents...

I think it should be known that theres a way and some starting npc etc. Other then that though..the quest should be finished misteriously with many choices etc so you go down different quests each time and your unaware where the next step will take you.

Please oh Please, do not make it known! Toons are going to get what they want by not having to gring profs, so why give all of us a clear quest path. It seems that by making it known takes away a lot of the fun in completing tasks (quests).
Another reason for not making it known and or easier is because of the game balance that will change. Those toons that worked so darn hard before publish 9 deserve to see any additional Jedi pay the same dues (ie, time commitment).

i think that rather than the old "hologrind' the FS system should work like this...
to become force sensitive you must do 1 npc quest.
yes 1 npc quest, here's the catch...
we have 8 planets, dozens of cities, hundred of random NPCs
everyone (who is addicted to becoming FS) must find their NPC and do their mission, the quest could be a simple delivery mission, it could also require you to bring down a stoneskin handak, or for you to craft a certain item (make a drink of brandy for me which would require you to get that far in chef)
this way it is difficult, tiresome and will prevent only those who truely want FS from acheaving it
