Thread: AT-ST changes on Test Center
What I found really fun with this game.is that pvp/fighting isnt that dangerous..yeah I know lots of peeps are scared to die cause of 1% (!!!) decay on their armour....so what..just gives u a reason to once in a while gather cash for a new composite, no fun in having same eq forever anyway.
Coming from Eve Online where if you died 2-4 weeks of boring mining got wasted in 15sec of pvp SWG looks awsome cause I can go do pvp without loosing weeks of playing when I die.
Thats why I got so depressed learning that faciton pets have perma death!! Why?!! Without perma death there would be some meaning to havign a at-st, maybe make it so it takes 24hours to get a new one after one died....sort of like you dont buy a at-st for those 9500 fps, u buy a certificate to pick one out from the Imperial storage when you need one, if it gets destroyed you can come back one day later to get a new one..... this is the mighty empire were talking about, they should have there machines in hunreds of thousands....
Mate, suck your head in. I'll bet money you're reb. Commandoes can deal out stupid amounts of damage anyway, at expense. As I said in the previous post, an AT-ST (and any future reb combat vehicle) should be a valuable rank privilege, not something that can be trashed in no time flat by a couple of commando's.
Which leads to a wider concept: elite professions can simply do too much damage. They should do no more damage than any other, they should just have a wider array of damage types available (such as heat or blast damage). Otherwise you have a serious combat imbalance, and you end up with a preponderance of those professions that can deal out that increased damage (and hence we see the preferred classes: CH's, BH's and Commando's).
That doesn't take too much thought, really.
I find this funny.. This goes to show how intellectual thesedev are. Faction pets should be based on rank not a profession. With each nerf to the at-st the cost should be nerfed as well. I could explain why but what's the point.
Droid engineers would have more of a right to call more at-sts out than a ch, for the simple fact TH has stated they are vehicles not animals. Chalk one more up on the stupid board for the dev team.
Changes like these made my decision to cancel a joyful event.
gee, dont tell me all the AT ST owners are crying because they cant one shot rebels and not have to worry about loseing it. oh my, heaven forbid they lose thier precious little babies. imps have CH, and AT ST as well as commandos. rebels have commandos and CH but no AT ST equal faction pet. if you think its not fair, then you should go back to playing your console games with your gamesharks because you dont like it when its actually fair. (if you are an imp and dont use an AT ST, then you shouldnt even give a rats arse about this. i can only imagine people crying about this if they DEPEND on an ATST to do all the work for them.)

Players like this one is the reason swg will continue on after all thesmart players leave.

This is all I see, post after pathetic post. None of them, good or bad have been given any consideration. The fact is that the game designers (or whoever makes the decisions) are apparently feeling like they make a huge mistake by giving something of this magnitude to the Imperials and without giving some counterpart to the rebels. To offset this mistake, the goal is to make it so worthless that no one will use them. Don't you get it. They can't just undo what they have done. They can't just take it out of the game. So they do the next best thing. Make it nothing more than a trophy. For those of you that have them, it would do you good to simply consider them removed from the game. If you do this, you will spare yourself from the stress and frustration. For those of you that don't have one, and are considering getting one... reconsider, unless you are just wanting a trophy to show your friends.
Furthermore, give the development guys a break. They are the grunts here. All they do is write the code and make possible what someone else decides. They make the occasional contribution, but those are known as easter eggs. If you want to flame someone, flame the people with the serious control issues making the decisions about these idiotic ideas.

In the grand design and being true to the Star Wars theme I agree that with the ATST status as a war machine..
The cost and length of time to aquire one and it's perma-death makes it too costly to actually use in PVP. I never use mine for PVP and I am more interested in hunting than in blowing up fellow humans of any alliance, I only became an IMP for the ATST. To use one of these in battles with NPC's is FUN beyond words! to take them away from those of us who enjoy the sights and sounds of leaking oil and fuel over smoldering nests should be a crime! If Not an ATST then give us a smuggled TSTA ( ATST with all the serial numbers grinded off!) create a black market for military hardware! give us this aspect of the game. I personally will weep over my keyboard when my ATST tells me I have targeted an Illegal target!.
GIVE US OTHER HARDWARE like blackmarket atst's - Battle Droids! - Create new machines!

Be creative.. customize Crawlers with different weapon types, armor, engines, generators, storage.
We are not anchored to only StarWars movie items are we? If so please ask them to make more movies with more content so I can get it in the game.

as long as you can no longer usethem to camp force sensitive and camp kryat ect...then it gives everyone a equal chance at killing and getting good loot.
----- only a few have camped the krayts with them most do not, and most are not interested in camping krayts. As far as camping force sensitives the developers/designers created the problem. If they were all spawned at random locations there would be no problem. until then wait your turn.
it's not right that you think the olny thing about being imp is the faction pet. and even WORSE you think ATST are a REASON for being faction. that just shows how pathetic the atst is that you cannot continue your way of hunting without it.

Maybe you will have to rely on something called SKILL and good grouping to killPVE now... not just big tanks. Rebels have been doing it for ages.

I'm sorry but think, if you are griping about THIS when imperial faction pets have about 12-30k HAM while rebel faction pets have about 9k you are griping about the wrong thing to the wrong people.

seriously isnt all your whining about the uberleetness of commando? yes Commando are uberleet so how come somany are griping about the ATST who's OLNY weakness is a commando and not griping about the uberness of commandos? you are placing importance on the wrong point... yes you are right Commando can kill a ATST fast. but do you see any other classes killing ATST? NO. according to your complaints you prove that commando it too uber for you to handle.When I hear you say : " that pistoleer killed my atst" then I'll think you MAY have a argument about it's weakenss...
----Thats because a Pistoleer hasn't had a chance to pick up a flamthrower and kill one yet. They may not be able to use the weapon expertly but they can use one.

Having no commando skills whatso ever I was able to live long enough to light it on fire. Luckily there was water nearby and he may decide to talk to me again in the future.

Why has the CH Imperial more stormtroopers? Because he can handle animals. Yes, this is the way it goes, his ability dealing with creatures is the reason the Empire thinks he should be able to command more troops.
This was pretty evident in the films, where the host of commanders stood in awe when the Ranchor trainer ( seen in RotJ ) joined their ranks, and promptly was given the command of an army three times as great as everyone else.
Soon all the Imperial Commanders used all their spare time dealing with animals, so they could increase their armies accordingly.
( This next part is extremely fictional, and do not represent any actual conversation done by anyone, ok? )

If the developers have this great fear of the AT-ST, it's better to remove it, instead of destroying the whole faction concept. A quick fix could be to limit the number of AT-ST's to one, for each player. It's not relevant to have CH issues affect faction resources, the way it is proposed.
The AT-ST seem to have been made pretty worthless already. But limiting it to faction missions, and making it un-repairable is not enough? ( Not mentioning the cost. Oh I did. Heh . ) To me it looks like the devs are using a sledgehammer to repair the broken watch here. Subtle as giving a nuke to the city planners. I look forward to command my last Stormtrooper to form a wedge...
Oh, and by the way, if these things are so great... should not the place be crawling with Imperials? If things are unbalanced, one faction should be swelling due to this fact, according to the latest conspiracy theories?
The AT-ST limited to PvP and faction action is fine. It is a matter of resource allocation. Limiting the numerous Stormtroopers the same way, is suspect. ( Sorry Lord Vader, they are civilians my Lord! We can't hurt civilians! Look, it's here in the charter. *Gaahrrghle* )
The Empire should actually be able to repair their equipment. Time to introduce a some skills dealing with vehicle repairs maybe? And maybe turn the AT-ST into a vehicle...
I want to command my Stormtroopers, I want original content. I do not want to play a copy of the last three MMORPG's, where everything slightly fun is watered out because 100 children sounds like 1000 children. The loud voice is not necessarily the wise voice.

So basically You can have one pet of any type out at a time.... What about the fact you have ranks in the game, why not make it so that a higher ranked guy can get +1 faction pet or somesuch thing. I spent Time and faction points to get to an officer for roleplay reason so i could in good consionce (sp?) order around 2 stormtroopers and an ATST.
And besides who uses an ATST in PVP, the thing dies so fast its sad... Hell i lost one in one hit from a commando and a friend basicallly lost another due to so much ham dmg that cant be repaired from flame throwers and the like to make it useless
As far as fighting PVE goes, I prefer using troopers and ATST's or even droids if they didnt suck so bad....
WHERE IN STAR WARS do you have people running around and fighting with pets like **edit**!
AT-ST's need even a slow heal ( while in data pad ) I have one and worked my butt off just the way anyone does leveling up to lose something that cost so much faction.
Staying true to the movies and reality.. a flamethrower wouldn't ever hurt something with metal so thick.. at least make it realistic.. say a rocket laucnher.. and please don't nerf the armor too much.. lets get real
AT-ST's and Stormtroopers are not animals.. If I'm a Sgt in the Empire I should be able to control 3 troopers because of my rank.. not because of animal handling skills.. RANK SHOULD ALSO BE A PERK..
.. BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO WORK FOR IT... it doesnt come for free..
Wel all pay for rank and pay for faction pets just like any creature handler.. now you want us to all be creature handlers !??!
A REAL SIMPLE SOLUTION TO EVERBODY'S BITCHING (MYSELF INCLUDED):
This is not going to happen, however, seeing how it is nearing Christmas I can at least try and wish for an early X-mas present from the devs:
Release the source code for the SWG server applicationso we canstartour own private servers. You keep strict account control of client software and continue to rake in your money. We maintain optional SWG servers that everyone can join if they so choose.
If the private server isnt balanced from a CONSUMER PERSPECTIVE, then nobody will join that private server. At the very least this will put the power and perceived balance back into the hands of people that actually play the game. The best case scenario is that we canalso start writing patches FOR YOU to implement. Less work for you and happier customers who just want to play a game that isnt nerfed on a daily basis.
