Thread: Faction Insurance Day Pass: How much?

The entire 'decay' system is a joke. There was nothing wrong with the original system of insure/clone/or corpse recovery that we had in beta and release (nothing that a patch or two of tweeking couldn't have fixed). Instead of making a few backpacks and maybe an equiped weapon no-drop, you guys came up with this mess.

It doesn't help the crafters. I've not worn nor purchased a single piece of armor or clothing since decay went live. There is just no excuse to see good equipment simply ruined in a matter of a few days. Repairs are a joke (do the devs even have a CLUE how screwed up repairs are?!?!?!?!)

You took a system that at worst needed some tuning and threw it out the window. Then replaced it with a totally crap system that everyone hates. Now you're spending months refining a turd with all these clever new twists?

Step away from the pipe, devs.

Just say no.

Seek rehab.

TH, do you see how many people in this thread think that the 1% decay should just be removed from ALL deaths? Wouldn't it be easier to just remove the 1% insured decay than to implement day passes or PvP-only decay exemption or any of this other crud?

What possible excuse is there for wasting developer resources on the fix to the problem that most people are against, when there's an easier and far more elegant solution that most people are in favor of?

The three arguments I've seen in favor of the 1% decay are:

1) Armorsmiths need the extra business.

2) Tailors need the extra business.

3) Death needs to havea "sting" so people don't "ride the clone express".

I can summarize the arguments against the 1% decay with three counterpoints:

1) Armor already decays with use.

2) Decay has no real effect on clothing.

3) Insurance fees provide an incentive to not die.

TH, if you want to maintain credibility, just tell us what the other benefits there are to this 1% decaythat we, the player base, are obviously too dense or small-minded to perceive. There must be some or you wouldn't be ignoring us so fervently.

And if you in fact agree with us and are just the messenger, take this back to the devs and ask for a real answer instead of vague mutterings of "1% decay is a valuable system in the right circumstances", or whatever nonsense G gave in lieu of a useful statementthe last time he commented on this topic.

I want to understand what's going on over there. This seems like what we call in the software industry a "no-brainer".

No kidding, when WoW comes out the exodus from SWG is going to be astronomical unless they stop looking at us as disposable income.

WoW? To hell with WoW.

I'd rather play nothing than stand for this nonsense anymore.

I am so disgusted right now. I rarely ever get angry at the stupidity of the sheep in this game, but this one takes the cake.

Thunderheart, it's really easy for you to ignore the rants and hone in on the players who are agreeing with you here, but given that ratio is 2 out of 300 so far, how do think this will help the game?

Are you simply going to ignore the negative criticism?

I thought the discussion was to see how many players were interested in this.. Because if you guys are going to implement this whether we want it or not, please let me know. I can save myself some typing and some money. I have 2 guys I pay for. 5 people play this game because the other plays it too. You can save yourself some forum space by letting me know from now, so I can go home and cancel both my accounts from now.

actually now that I think about it. more like 50FP. 1k is way to much for this. maye it could be staggered, for lower cost with higher rank.

TH you said a few posts back that 5000 credits seemed a bit steep,,, However the going rate for faction points on the market is around 100 CPU a credit... IF you do the math your recomended 50 or 100 FP cost is around 5000 or 10,000 credits worth.... Just pointing this fact out,,, i think there should be an option to pay faction cost or credits,,,,

Do you guys realize how much money people save with this? This is a fantastic bargain.

For roughly 50-100 Faction Points, players get no armor decay and 1 time pay for insurance for 24 hours? No decay and one time insurance for PvP is tens and hundreds of thousands of credits cheaper.

In 2-3 hours of hard PvP, a player can spend 20-50K credits in insurance andlose 10-50% of their armors integrity. No insurance at all means this stays in the game...I certainly wouldnt like that.

So can you guys tell the difference between a PVP death vs a PVE death now?

I do understand that clothing decay is needed to keep tailors in business.

No, it's not. Tailors have argued against death decay from the beginning, in favor of use decay. In other words, your clothing decays 10 pointsa day (for example) through natural use -- not due to some artificial claim of supporting Tailors by making it decay on death.

Many Tailors have given up arguing for use decay, as they don't feel the Devs are listening to them any more than they are listening to the rest of us...

Maybe you don't understand how much frustration we think this will cause.. Why add another layer to an already buggy system? Try doing an INSURE ALL and take a look at what actually is getting insured.. I have to insure camp kits, crates of camp kits, survey tools, crafting tools, I routinely get 2-3'NULL' items I have to insure, etc. Adding MORE usually means MORE bugs--at the very least more potential for bugs.

I thought I was doing well having 6,000 Faction points after buying a few promotions. The last time I PvPd I died quite a few times because I'm not a Commando/TKA and lost over 500 points from that alone.. Now I have to lose MORE on Insurance for my Insurance??

Hmmm I'm getting a bad feeling about this. All we've heard about this today is shine from TH. No matter how much you shine a turd, it's still a turd.

It really sounds like TH has given up on this and is happy to hear the designers say "take it and like it". Correct me if I'm wrong TH. "Why is there decay?", has been asked over and over and no answer. Do you need help comming up with questions on this issue to ask, or have all the questions been asked and we'd like the answers so little that it's better not to tell us? Communication isn't happening. We're not getting answers to what we're asking.

Not trying to give youa hard time TH (this time), but when players talk about bad service, it's about this type of situation. I know you're asking for opinions. but our suggestions can't really be useful if we don't know what's really happeneing. If you need help comming up with questions, let us know where things stand and ask for help. Considering the state of the game, if we didn't see the potential we wouldn't still be here.

Dear Developers,

We, your player base and the people who keep you employed, are still waiting for you to get a clue about 1% decay when insured. Please let us know when you do.

Thank you,

The Players.
