Dasyra thats a good concept buy why not model off a bazaar real estate terminal where ya go it lists the type building etc, then you pay the requested rent etc and recieve an occupation deed, differant from the other deeds.

I have a problem with the proffesion points, your character gets x starting point, but to be a jedi mastering all those proffesions you have to give them up, thus the profession, but doing so forces you to loose hard earned exp in that profession. Which I dont feel is right. The solution as I see it would to be once you master a proffession ie CH those points go back into your useable poit pool to use in another proffesion. This would correct I think alot of problems in this area, while still allowing players to keep the proffesions they like to play rather than the ones they dont.

When I first starting playing the game I natural figured that a Jedi top end goal of the game would simply be to master off the available proffesions and trades before unlocking the force inorder to persue the Jedi tree. This I thought would be done similiar to EQ quests, and killing stuff, selling etc all the exp methods we now have. Seems logical to me for instance Yoda would be all that above.

There are a lot of good ideas here. Thanks for making this a really productive and thoughtful thread

Also it would give a small insentive to get faction points so as to increase in rank.

As per the wages. Think of the payout for running faction missions as your wages Halmet. That is basically what it is.

They probably should pay you... with faction points. But it has to be developed. Maybe have a payday which will be the only day you can collect your money or make it vary depending on who u killed and what you did and on your overt or covert status. It would be more realistic to pay in money, but then they'd either pay too much or too little and I don't think it would work well. Faction points are a good "game" way of currency.

The only real way I see money working is if they pay you a bit for each opposite faction player you kill and every base you capture/destroy. Not for NPC missions because you get paid for those already, so that can count as payment. However killing non-mission NPCs and players could add a "bonus" to your payment.

What do you think?

P.S. Nice To hear from you Thunderheart!

Do you have any comments on any specific ideas? I and the other posters would love to hear them!

Not sure I understand Durangoo.

My idea is for players to be able to rent the buildings in the player towns. So if you travel to Theed the cantina could possibly be rented and owned by a player, while other types of buildings could be shops. If anyone could just buy a deed in the city it would be a first come first serve. The bidding system is so that the value of the location is player determined. If no one bids and you bid 1 credit it's all yours for 30 days. But it is likely that in places like Theed merchants would be willing to pay a pretty penny to setup shop where they will likely sell out of items almost daily, especially if they stocked up for the rent period.

Though you did give me an idea which you may have been trying to explain. Maybe only certain types of professions could bid on certain types of buildings. Dancers/Chefs could bid on Cantina's, while merchants could bid on shops, and so on. Though at first it might be best to let anyonerent the building and during their monththey can let anyone on their admin list use it.

BTW, I want to bring up the idea of apartments again because I just saw a nice row of apartment buildings on the border of Theed and it looked like it would be so fun to live in them. There were agro NPCs and stuff walking around. They could be like the negihborhood thieves that everybody who lives there has to deal (but have fun) with. No one ever commented on this in the first place, so what do you think?

It's not really my idea. It's been on the boards for a long time. Just my way of explaining it.

I am all for using the NPC buildings and letting players run them. I'm sure a lot of people would enjoy actually living in one of the major locations. If politics can be tied to the npc towns in some way that would be great as well. It looked like they started something similar in the Bestine township on Test Center. If they allowed players to run for mayor though that would add another dynamic and allow politicians to actually run for officeunlike right now where guilds pretty much control the player towns.

BTW, i didn't read the previous post before i posted and that's a strange coicidence. That's what i was talking about. We should be able to rent apartments and other building, so here comes another idea...

Maybe they should allow us to give people admin rights to certain rooms of houses. Then they could rent out rooms and create apartment complexes.

Maybe then they should add new player owned "apartment buildings". This would be a GREAT AND NATURAL addition to player cities in my opinion and would add a new level of realism and depth, and I can't imagine these things being so hard to do. I have several idea for details to this sort of thing but I'm not gonna go into it.

So what do you guys think?

I always thought it would be cool if rebels (or hutt factionor something "naughty")did more "terrorist" type stuff. I know that people would have a problem with it, because of all our real life stuff, but maybe a variation could be worked out.

Example:

Seedy Npcs walk into Theed cantina (non attackable but obviously out of place) and walk to the back. They plant a small device that looks like a little box with buttons, and when clicked on for examine has a small timer clicking down. The Npcs leave, but the box remains. Now, this box is a bomb (SWG style) and a master smuggler is needed (overt) to come and disarm it. If he doesn't disarm it in time, or nobody touches it at all, everyone within the cantina gets diseased. Or maybe every Imperial, or person with negative hutt faction/thug faction. Whichever. Covert or Overt, doesn't matter. everyone gets diseased. Now, if a smuggler does manage to disarm it, he gets faction points, or a cool unique reward/schematic for smuggler, or credits, or something. Just random content that adds flavor and feel to the world.

I can't believe this is hard to do and I think it would be grandly fun. I really really hope the implement stuff like this. Of course, the fastest way for this to happen would be to hire me and let me come up with ideas.

I really enjoy running around with a combat group in SWG but it is often difficult to find people who want to group up, run missions or do silly npc quests. It would be greatto be able to go hit a planet like Dantooine and be able to find a group in a matter of minutes I could join up with. The only place I have had any luck was at Fort Tusken where there always seems to be a group willing to let me join up. I'm not sure what can be done about this but if anyone has ideas please post them. Also group looting is another issue, I don't mind letting everyone else haveall theloot but it does get frustrating that the /group commands still don't seem to work and distribute items so I at least have a chance to get an item or two from time to time without having to solo.

How about wages for those who join a faction. Your joing an army right, shouldnt you get paid wages?

It would be based on rank. Nothing major like 100k or anything.

I think it should start at 3k per week for the lowest rank and go up to around 15k a week for the highest rank.

This would provide incentive for neutrals to join a faction, it would be a boon for being part of a side, it would provide those who have a hard time with income a steady income, it would help ease the work of those who have to grind constant redundant missions to afford some good armor, etc.

what are your guys' thoughts?

I think there was a Dev post on this a while ago. They said something like there can't be salaries for rank, because you can't get demoted. Therefore, once you grind up to the highest rank, you basically get free money with no more effort.
