Thanks!
Sounds good. I think you should give the one-star bandits ranks like Jawa or Ewok....

GARVA?
Is there any way to implement such a 'mean' rating system (as detailed in my previous post)into the ranking system? I think this would solve alot of the abuses that are commonly foundin various forums.

Its a forum, its a means of communication and fun. If your a regular poster/visitor you should at least know the key people on the forums. Even if their rating is good or bad, people will always recognises them for their posts / attitude / help etc

Also note that I have updated the regular rank post counts, I accidentally copied them from the wrong column in my excel
Well that explains that
thanks for the correction. Now as to the normal/star ranking comparison would anyone ever have the star rankings at lower levels? Since someone who qualifies for a star ranking would also qualify for a higher normal rank (unless they did not have the time requirement for the higher normal rank). But once the time requirements are met it would seem that most people would fall into the upper tier normal ranks sincethey would be higher than the potential star rank and the rank granted is always the highest possible rank regardless of tier correct?

I never really cared for the star ranking. But to each their own...

With the obvious exception of the 1-star morons I think most members rate based upon how the post is presented rather than if they agree with the poster's opinion.

I realy does depend on what forum you go. I myself have had some very bad everiences on some specific boards.

how will your system protect from auctions like this?
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=intrepid_trade&message.id=118459
the person is auctioning off some 82% base krayt segments. he is getting a low star rating.
what is that? most likey from jealously
or any auction where somepeople goeson a 1 star clicking fest because they lost the auction

One more time please read the whole first post (as I keep updating it)
The only thing someone could do by one starring you is basically change the color of your name and title, the privileges will be similar across the two ranking trees. Yes there will always be someone who is the gutter of a community and just like real life you plan what you can to counter them, but you do not base the whole system on them.
If the privileges are "similar" why have the difference at all? It seems that the primary factor will always be the post count, and the starring will always be a semi-random, semi-greifed method of doing not much extra. Just a thought...
Also, "labeling" one star bandits might not make a difference for those who truly are just here to grief...
Just my thoughts ![]()
