You know this might be fun. I'll start another character on another server. It doesn't take very long to master ID. After mastering ID I'll sit at the Theed booth yell, "Free stat migrations!" lol

Ok, here's my input.

1) The tents are very cool! In fact, the whole revamp sounds pretty interesting. I would like to see in the future the addition of PLAYER STRUCTURE ID tents. (Preferably placeable anywhere, but of course it'll probably just end up in player cities).

2) The stat migration has me a little confused. It seems that you are saying that players will no longer be able to migrate their own stats-- period. I think this is NOT a good thing. I think you should:

  • Keep the stat migration system the way it is now BUT
  • ADD IN the additional feature of being able to visit an Image Designer to get the stat migration done in 10 minutes (as opposed to sometimes up to a full week of RL time).

I have to agree with this in general. Players don't usually mitigate their stats often. In fact, I think in the whole run of the game I've done mine maybe 4 times. However, I like that ID's can do it faster. It gives them a reason to be, since its purely a social gig after all... moreso then musicians and dancers even.

I would like to add though that if the Dev's REALLY want to do this, rather then take stat movements completely away from the non-ID players that they might even consider INCREASING the time... twice as long as normal. This would effectivly keep the ID's employed with this new but rarely used ability and STILL allow other archtypes to play effectivly.

That's my 2 creds on it

The idea of allowing image designers to migrate all of your stats in an accelerated timeframe is a good one. 5-10 minutes vs. what might take days is certainly worth a bit of $$$.

HOWEVER - if this game ever requires you to go see an image designer to migrate your statistics at all we are in for some serious hurting. This is not fun - its just an added annoyance for 99.9% of the players out there who are not image designers.

I am all for giving the ID's out there some content, but don't make this game less fun for 999/1000 players out there to do it.

This stat migration change is NOT what people think!

Hmm, what do YOU think TH meant when he said, "Note: Players can no longer do their own stat migration, please consult an Image Designer for pricing."? I mean, it is the last line of the post he made that started this thread.

I'm indifferent about this change regard stats migration. The last time I changed my stats was probably about 4 months ago. I doubt I will change them anytime soon.

Anyway the last time I changed my stats it was rather drastic and took several days. I think I could find an IDer in the space of several days. Especially with these new ID tents.

I suppose some people who migrate their stats often are probably freaking out.

The holo emotes are interesting. I am glad they are only several seconds. Is there gonna be an official RP explanation on how these work, or is this going to be one of those things that exist out of the Star Wars space and time continum, like say waypoints?

I haven't seen an Image Designer in months, having us rely on them is a bad idea. Choosing to use them (faster stat migration) is a great idea.

In the short run it will work, while everyone is testing the changes. In the long run it won't.

With all due respect to the few, the proud image designers, I think there are maybe all of 5 of them actually playing the game that are not hologrinding. This is going to create significant problems for some players, and potentially whole servers.

This is going to create signifigant issues for people that play during off-times or on lesser populated servers.

Part of the beauty of the migration system is that it moved so slowly - I've spent weeks working on stats trying to get them balanced exactly how I like, trying out the changes along the way.

Now I have to get another player to set them, and the dynamic feature is gone - "+200 str, -200 action...I think." Sounds like a whole lot of not-fun to me.

I understand the need to make ID's useful, but like many things in SWG I want to want something, not to need it. In other words, I want to have the desire to visit an ID occasionally because they are cool, not be forced to find one every time I buy a new suit of armor before I can wear it.

Make personal stat migration even slower than it is now - but don't eliminate it completely. The answer is to get the ID's business from people who want "instant HAM changes", not to force every casual combat player who wants to naturally and gradually alter their stats in a migration system that many people enjoyed.

That said, the rest of the ID changes sound great - but if you take away an essential function instead of simply enhancing it (by providing quicker migrationfrom an ID) you are going to create a lot of resentment and eliminate one of the truly elegant systems of SWG at the same time.

Then it's a bug.

Go back to TH's original post - "Note: Players can no longer do their own stat migration, please consult an Image Designer for pricing" is pretty clear.

I'm a master ID. I do it because I like it, I think it's fun. Being bombarded by people demanding that i meet them at a tent so i can migrate their stats for them will NOT be fun. Allowing me to make those changes happen vastly faster for them is fine, but making me their only option sounds like a bad deal for both of us. Maybe Ioverestimate the playerbase's appetite for stat changes, in which this may be OK, butI suspect not.

Why isnt there an image design tent on all worlds that can have player cities.... say Talus for instance.

Forcing EVERY SINGLE PLAYER to go to an ID to get their stats migrated is one of the worst ideas you have ever had, not only will the ID's be overrun by requests, but you are totally blocking out newer players from being able to change their stats. Why nerf one of the systems in the game that ACTUALLY works?

Stat Migration: Image Designers now have the sole ability to migrate player stats faster than the previous default migration rates. The process will take 10 minutes and requires the Image Modification Booth located inside the ID tents. This functionality has been revoked from the general player base and now requires an Image Designer.

Nope...I don't like this at all. This sounds like a very bad idea to me. I like the idea of making the migration occur faster...but I think making it the ONLY way to facilitate the change is unfair to the rest of the community. Whats next, paying a tailor to swap our clothing?
