I don't think I've read a post by any dev that has made me feel like they are truly passionate about this game the way you are sir. That's not to say they aren't, but to say that they haven't captured it as well as you have these past few days. I salute your efforts and look forward to working with you and enjoying the results.
Thanks for your enthusiasm!
Developers are LIMITED on what they can post vs. how they feel or think about things. As a business you must control what you post on a public customer forum. Saying the wrong thing can backfire. So just addressing what you said about "any dev passions".. they are tempered by professional procedures.

Was it his idea to leave the smuglers out of a combat class desigination?

*ahem* we do use a gun
Hey Runesabre!
Got a thought to solve: Combat Droids, Droid Engineers, andSmugglers' Spice...
Allow all players access to ALL droids, combat or otherwise. Flag droids CL11+ as "illegal"to use, but with no initial penalties at first, building up to major trouble with NPC cities for violations.
I remember you when you were a player and one of the first GrandMaster Blacksmiths in UO and inspired me to become a GM blacksmith.
Good luck.

Heh heh... no more seekers for YOOOOUUUUU! ![]()
It would be nice to know that a dev was playing a crafter, working their way up, running a business, etc - it sometimes seems that many of the devs have a combat-centric view of the game.

Interestingly, my name "Runesabre" was derived from my first character from Ultima Online who was a Grandmaster Blacksmith. His name was "Runesaber" and used to stand at the "Hammer and Anvil" forge in Britain for many hours selling and repairing player's weapons and armor. I changed the spelling slightly when I started working on Ultima Online so as to differentiate the character from the developer on the forums at the time.
Crafting and Combat need equal attention; one can not and should not exist without the other. I hope to try and maintain that balance over time although some publishes may seem to focus more heavily on one than the other from time to time.

Welcome Runesaber...
Are you planning to post more about your vision on where this game is going and what you want to do about combat and crafting? It seems like everybody is holding their collective breathe right now in anticipation of some really wide sweeping changes. There's alot comming down the pike and knowing your vision things would be helpful as we contribute our own ideas and wish lists.
