Thread: Request for your help in reviewing the Holocron Text
Do you want specifically inaccuracies and grammar corrections, or do you want content additions?
Unfortunately I don't have access to it right now, but I remember as a newbie (and since) I've wanted to go back and check on racial abilities (equilibrium, vitalize, regenerate, etc.). I don't think I could find anything really very useful and ended up having to go to fan sites to find it.
Ummm, isn't this a job for SOE staff? Is this how we "cut corners" in the budget by having the paying customers do your work for you? Spelling errors? Time to bump up that staff over there Q. Oh and after you've hired a technical writer to go back and fix your mistakes you can then add a few more dozen people to actually get these "publishes" out in a timely manner and *gasp* BUG FREE.
Better yet, hire me and I will come on down to the office and crack the whip. Apparently you are all in desperate need of an IT office manager that actually DOES HIS JOB.
Not trying to be an jerk here folks, but COME ON ALREADY. We shouldn't have to do YOUR WORK. It's bad enough we pay monthly to play a broken game.
i know this is NOT what you requested, however im gonna say it anyway:
why not setup the tutorial a bit differently?
here's my thoughts:
character enters the game, after completing the basic tutorial, have the character enter a room with X doors. X=the number of professions available. each door leads the new player thru a series of tasks that the Profession (have the profession printed on the door or something) might have to do on a daily basis.
example: new player enters the Bioengineer door, a guide then walks him thru an area with caged creatures and demonstrates how-to's, such as collecting DNA.
once the new player has finished with a profession (room), he/she then has the option to finish the tutorial or continue on to another door (profession).
i believe something like this might have a much greater impact on what profession new players choose to do.
again, i know this is off topic, sorta, and i apologize. but it was a spur of the moment thot in my absentmindedness that i had to express =)

Hey all, in my continual pursuit of many text fixes, I'm focusing a bit on the in-game Holocron (CONTROL H by default). Our goal is to put most useful information in the Knowledge Base because that is so easy and quick to update. Since the Holocron is dependant on publishes, I would like to change the focus of it. Currently, the Holocron is a form of an in-game manual. What I would like the Holocron to be is a starters guide to quickly give the players the basics (such as with the current tutorials) in an easy to read format. The advanced stuff should be in the Knowledge Base because it is a much more powerful tool for answering specific questions.
Anyway, the reason I'm here today is to ask you to give a read through of the Holocron and let me know if any current information is just plain wrong (such as mentions of player corpses) or if there is bad grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.. I'm doing my own read through, but I know your collective eyes are going to find things I don't. So if you have the time and desire, pick a section and give ita read through.
When reporting on this thread, please write the Chapter header, the full sentence you thinkhas an error and your recommendation for the change.
Thanks!!!!
fix the game first worry about this later
I was going to mention the same thing. SEVERAL of the loading screens are wrong in one way or another.
Some have incorrect information, others, it's the picture. There's this one picture of a Selonian, for instance, that looks SUSPICIOUSLY like a Jawa...right down to the Tatooine flag in the background. At LEAST one shows an inventory that maxes at 100, and not 60. It hasn't been this way since before launch. And yes, there's that mention of ensured items going with you but uninsured items staying on your corpse.
Which reminds me...what is the current purpose of a bank? We're not lootable are we, or did you do that, because I have never been looted.
Actually, you CAN forage for organic resources if you're a medic.
I don't recommend it. You get a few, but it varies each type.
With the recent Imberial Crackdown...there is...sort of. Yes, Smuggler seems a bit off, but I heard they did give a scanning bonus to smugglers. Not as good as a high-ranking imperial, but better than everyone else.
I found grenades on the weaponsmith onion. Third column.

The Holocron mentions the ability to become a "mercenary" which obviously wasn't implemented in game. You might want to remove that ![]()
