Thread: Desired Rewards
I'll just add another post to the support of "Interesting" rewards.
Remember it doesn't have to be anything to affect the game, or affect crafting or be "uber" loot, but a simple peice of unique clothing, or a gorgeous and rare painting is great as a reward
Well having read through the posts here, I see a common thread appearing that reflects most peoples answers:-
1) Its all about Individuality. Standing out from the crowd. Uniqueness. Items or abilities that give a character the ability to be different.
2) Its also about recognition. Rewards that clearly say 'I have done that'; 'I have been there'; 'I am this'
Q I am sure yyou can see thisas clearly as I can. So the answer is to find rewards that do not impact negatively on any profession, or the player run economy, but which give players an identity which in some way is unique to them.
So the list includes trophies...things for your home or person that allow you to be different or appear different.
Minor ability bonuses like clothing that not only looks different but offers the wearer some kind of added defense/offense/influence/skill.
I like the idea of schematics too. Because they allow the player economy to take part in the ultimate building of things which are a cut above the rest. These schematics of course must be very rare; if everyone knows which quests will get which objects then you are already losing out on the 2 principles outlined above.
Hows about a database table that contains 100 or 200 different but desirable loots which ae randomly allocated as rewards from NPC quest givers on completion of the quest. That way you cant have everyone trawling over to Endor to get the marauder armor because they might get something else! That is possibly a bad example as the marauder king giving his peoples armor is good for continuity in my mind. But the principle holds true in most cases.
On top of that database, you could have an uber database which is smaller; say 20 really desirable schematics with very limited usage. Say 5 of the item only from the schematic...these 20 must be connected to unpublished lengthy in-depth quests that will really require some work to obtain; and even then the end result will still be randomized, but guaranteed unique quality.
Another Idea is comedy. Lets have loot that doesnt necessarily benefit any attributes, but is humourous. clothing or artwork or anything really that when seen will raise a smile. Humour is so important for creating a sense of immersion in my mind.
I also like the idea of granted extra skill points, badges, labels which reflect your completion of something specific. All of these things help ultimately to produce a sense of recognition and achievement and uniqueness!
I have no idea what other people been writing but I have a very simple request.
Rare / Uniqe Clothing (with out skillmods)
I'm a roleplayer first of all and I'll choose uniqecloths (robes, shirts, wests, blets, headwear, and most of all jewlery)before uber weapons ANY DAY of the week.
Thanks
My favorites are:
- special coloured Armors or clothes
- something like exotic Plants for use in Player Houses
- Throphys such as Animal heads to hang on walls
- Special Advanced crafting Tools with a limitet number of uses that cause createt items to be more powerful then items craftet with a normal crafting tool. So this tool could be handed out to a crafter who could craft this special items.
I would love to see decorations as well. My two types of loot I would like to see most, however, would be:
- Items from a Camp: When going to the Tusken Fort, looking around, they have TONS of cool items for a house... The stretched skins, wooden cages, skull decorations, etc. I would love to have some of this.
- I would also love to see (already mentioned) Rebel or Imperial Decorations such as flags and banners.
Just like weapon power-ups, how about:
*Resource enhancements
+30% to conductivity on 100 units
+25% to Unit Toughness on 125 units
* more badges
How about seasonal items that, while may not enhance play, adds to one's dwelling?
definitly new and specific schematics for special weapon, droid, armor etc
trophy for house
title or badge or something else which could be seen when a player look at you
a sort of ranking between player, ranking for pvp (duels won and lost, ranking for the best artisants) = a competition, this is what the game lack atm, a real competition between player
finishing jabba theme park should give an access to a new faction (hutt faction please please)
finally for BH (and I m not one), ADD PC bounties, it could give so more fun to know we are hunted omg
I pretty much agree with all the comments so far, I personally would love to see more items that make armor and items more powerful such as the krayt tissue or the night sister plates, Also I like the idea of more humour and more color in the game...
Also, it would be nice if at some point schematics could be randomized like some of the random loot drops in games like Diablo. If NPCs dropped randomized schematics with different names, stats and looks then you would have actual uniqueness in the crafter community.
Also, keep up the crafted item enhancements, we need a lot more of these and not necessarily ones that enhance stats. For example, maybe some lower level NPCs drop enhancements to weapons that allow for unique looks like wooden stocks, silencers, etc.
Finally, you might consider allowing mobs to drop weapons and armor that are functional, but until they are taken to a crafter to fix/upgrade their stats are sub-standard compared to other crafted items. That way a player could actually get some instant gratification as well as keeping the crafter community at the top of the economic food chain.
