Unbelievable!!

Well, thanks so much for misrepresenting yourselves on the date for this publish. Thursday wasn't provided as an estimated release date, but as the official date. Thanks for the great 'communication' on this one.

Tommm70, grief players dont ruin MMOs, its all the carebears, people who cry for nerfs rather than balance and the devs that give inthat ruin every MMO.

UO was destroyed by carebearing and handling everything with kiddie gloves, it just became boring and repetitive. DAoC was destroyed by people crying nerf about one class after another until the game became based completely on what class youchose rather than how skilled you were or how well youplanned your equipment setup.

As for all the cries of 'i pwned you d00d', 'u suxx0r',cheating accusationsand all that other pathetic stuff that 12 year old american kids seem to think is great. Learn to ignore them, or just laugh at their lack of maturity and proceed to kill them again. Either that or move to europe, as it seems more common to actually praise someone for a good skillful kill rather than whine or brag about it.

Unless you remove PvP completely you will never be free from griefers, and even then they will find ways around it. e.g. like pulling agro onto people in EQ.

Rebel players will just have to be more careful and thoughtful about their actions. If they take the right precautions they can minimise the risk. TEF is bad, its open to abuse from so many angles its unreal. Rebel vs Imperial is the PvP on SWG, if you sign up to one side you have signed up to being open to PKs. There are plenty of non-rebel/imperial NPCs of similar difficulty available in the game that dont leave you open to PvP.

As I've said, I'm all for beefing up the Empire. It's been only lurking in the background for far too long. I want to feel the mailed fist of the Empire squeezing the galaxy and exerting Palpatine's will. But I DON'T want that to come at the expense of my profession or at the expense of ANY profession, OR at the expense of game balance.

That is preciesly what is going on . your feeling the heat, and you think your the only profession that has fallen to a nerf or change? please. hello? bounty hunters. Nothing has ever worked correctly for hunting BOUNTIES. lol where were you on that?

When you PAY a high ranking Imperial officer to get your stuff pass a scan... in the real world that would be called a bribe. something the mob has done with the police since the beginning of time.

Han solo IF you read a book. has Bribed imperial officers to get things passed therescans. How do you think they got different identities. Refer toROTJ for those of you whocannot read. As they go down to the planet i belive that code was roughly six months old?

What a bunch of babies LOL

I am glad to see the publish out now too. I am a Rebel/Wookie and I am Overt too with a bunch of sliced goodies on me. I am currently loggged sitting outside the Starport in Coronet. Its gonna be a good fight getting out of there but I am not worried, if I am going down I am going down fighting. I somehow knew the patch would be released early, I think that they wanted to catch everyone off guard on purpose. imagine what us reb will be instore for us once we can get on today. I got one thing to say to the Empire, if they wanna take my stuff away they are going to have to pry it out of my cold hairy hand.

Imperials will act in a tryannical fashion. GOOD. This game SHOULD be about unfairness. Smugglers should be criminals. Rebels should be criminals. There should be a penalty if you are caught doing business with a smuggler. There should be a penalty if you are caught doing Rebel missions. This game should NOT be about accumulation of wealth, uber weapons, loot, etc. It is about a WAR. Wars are not FAIR.

When I realized my twi'lek paid more for Imperials perks than humans, I was a little stunned but then I thought..GOOD..it makes me understand things more. The racial prejudices are GOOD. It gives the correct flavor to the game. Jedis should be hunted by Imperials. Jedis scream about skill loss. Understandable from a grinding point of view but in light of what this game is about, its GOOD. Rebels and Jedis should feel persecuted! This is not supposed to be a warm fuzzy huggable game. It should be about danger and conspiracy and tyranny and persecution and the fight to free the empire FROM said dangers, conspiracies, tyranny and persecution. NOT about who pwns who with the 1337 uber PvP Skillz.

Yup we use the dev tracker. High ranking imperials are immune to any and all contraband scanning. That is not right on the basis that we had to pay skill points to gain that protection and the imperial did not.

LMFAO... I suppose the 65000 fp I spent on getting Colonel is nothing compared to your Smuggler grind... /sigh... idiot

AWSOME, after doing the Jabba theme park back in the day when it took an hour to hike to Wayfar, then you had to actually spend the week there in Wayfar to finshish the quests, with hardly any doctors around and dancers to relieve bf were impossible to find, and then on top of that the missions were buggy. Now I get to do it once again, YAY. Same applies to the Emperor's Retreat, looking forward to doing the same thing again instead of doing new content, I get the option to do the same thing over again. HOW **edit**ING GAY!!

extra melon?

SOMETHING has to give, and this is the logical thing.

Someonesuggest something else that could give?

If the number of faction pets went up regardless of how they tried to balance it a load of CH's would be whining.

The fact that Rebel recruiters have been pushed underground and/or eliminated is an Imperial advantage, since it's not easy for Rebels to rally or go Overt.

The fact that there are more Imperial NPCs patrolling towns is an advantage for Imps, who get backup.

The scan teams, if the Devs decided to implement it, could scan for only Rebel Faction (rather than contraband as well), essentially giving Imperials 100% immunity and making it risky to be a Rebel in the presence of a scan team.

Those are three benefits that will be in the game now.

AT-ATs are on the way, not as a controllable perk, but as backup for Imperials.

And regardless, the fact that you even think that people need to be pulled to the Imperial side at this point borders on delusional. On many servers (probably not all), Imperials either have the upper hand, or the population is essentially equal. The myth that it's 6:1 in favor of the Rebels(or whatever crazy number people want to unload) died off months ago. This patch is about baking the place look Star Warsy and pushing Rebels off the street, not giving Imperials super powers and capes. It's a crackdown, not a beef-up. This isn't the Imperial Welfare Patch.

You know ... I'm just amazed at the slow learning curve here.

The short-notice push of the Player Cities publication caused no end of problems for customers, and everyone at SOE said "Oh, yeah, sorry about that, won't happen again ..."

So they tell us a WEEK ago "Thursday, that's the day, write it down," and then again give us less than 12 hours notice of changing amajor release date.

I don't know what problems this will cause (yet) ... I just know I am dumbfounded how they could not have learned this lesson yet. Notice matters.

Still grading out at a D- on communication and planning, folks.

reply to Kzinkiller

Sometimes it takes shorter or longer then expected, depending on if somethings happens more quicklythen expected (like bug fixes), and some times it could bedelayed over a week in a case if a new bug is found before the release. It does not really matter if they give a date or not, it still is an ETA time, which is always subject to change. If they feel confident that the contents are good enough to release then that is what they will release.

Reply to the board

I think the new content personally is good and how it should be to make it more in favor of the emperor, which it should be. Smugglers complain that they will lose part of there job because high end imps wont need to get scanned, and they shouldn't. Because of just rank alone should be valid. Why would a stormtrooper scan a person that they know has a great presence in the eyes of the emperor (which could make them bepart smuggler as well, but I see it asa perk you get for being a high end officer on the Imperial side).

Yes the 6:1 did diminish, but it did not go away. Why? Alot of Rebels had switched sides to Imperial just so they could harvest Holocrons (Imps could get them from mission terminal missions, while Rebels couldn't). Now with the great Holocron Hunt being obsolete a vast majority of those that switched sides are switching back, if they haven't already.

Players really can't assume the numbers are equal. Rebels have always said there are as many if not more Imperials than Rebels while Imperials say the opposite. Only the CSR's (?) and the Dev's truly know the numbers.

Yes I know I'm guilty of doing this too. But what you don't know is I used to be a Major in the Rebel Alliance. Completed the Theme Park (don't believe me? come examine me sometime you'll see the badge) but I switched sides to harvest holo's and decided to stay cuz there's only 3 of us in the guild. And my PA Leader wants a set of Storm Trooper armor so I need to grind out faction one of these days.

I know that's their thinking, but unfortunately (as all too often happens) they didn't give 30 seconds thought to how this will affect players who relied on them actually doing what they said they would do, or stick to a published schedule.

I'm thinking primarily here of players who were planning on shifting around their inventory and logging out pre-publish in a place where an Imperial Crackdown scan was unlikely. People trying to intelligently plan for the Update. People who may now have lost that opportunity to exercise a little strategy in the game.

Not me, I logged out at home as usual and the only problems I'll have will be the result of whatever new bugs this publication spawns ... but I feel for the people who were denied an opportunity to plan (just like they were denied it in the Player Cities early publication) for no good reason at all.
