Allowing any planet to any planet would remove "the feel" of galactic travel... (rough quote from previous post in this thread)

I am curious, what feel is that exactly? Maybe we are playing different games. When I have to find something else to do everytime I hit a 7-10 minute wait it actually RUINS the immersion of the game. Let me be immersed in the game. I really cannot believe that ANYONE feels that waiting for a shuttle is immersive or gives "the feel" of galactic travel. You hear a ship engine and see a ship and then you use your ticket and you magically disapear and reappear a few seconds later on a different planet. How is that immersive and how does waiting 9-10 minutes feel like galactic travel?

Also to those of you who claim we need to wait now so we will want to buy a ship when the space expansion comes out. Have you really thought about this for more than 2 seconds? It stands to reason that anyone who BUYS the expansion will be interested in buying a ship. And they are not going to buy the expansion or a ship because of the starport waits. They are going to buy it so they can have their own ship and fly it around the galaxy shooting other ships.

As for the comments from TH about the direct tickets coming from player smugglers and the waits at starport being determined by who is winning the GCW, does anyone think these are good ideas?

Anyone out there ever have a hard time finding a slicer. Oh you had to go to coronet to find one. Lets see. 5 minutes to Eisley, 9 minutes to coronet, find a smuggler, buy a direct flight ticket from him (oh wait I am only one hop away from yavin now anyway)....

And what the hell does the civil war have to do with the shuttles?

I still do not understand why anyone (devs or players) would not want the shuttle (and starport) timesinks reduced. Is their any rational reasons besides immersion or space expansion because both of those hold no water.

Excellent post. I can only hope a Dev would respond to it. Your questions are excellent and it would be great to hear some answers from a Dev on why. But I agree with you 100%... I have no clue how they feel immersed by this. It's one of those mysteries of the world I guess. I know I'm baffled by it. I'm like you... I have no idea how that makes them feel immersed. I'm a huge Star Wars fan... have been since I was a little kid. I actually had the movies on a cassette tape and used to listen to them on a walkman when I was like 6 years old... I was obcessed. I had every line of all 3 movies memorized... I still have all of the toys from back in the day (and I had a lot of them). As big as a fan as I am... I cannot believe people feel immersed by waiting next to a ticket droid watching line after line of spam about some item I don't care to buy. /sigh

OK my biggest problems are this:

#1 can we /addignore the droids? probably not (SOE please THINK when making changes)

#2 why will scouts be able to toss traps inside but commandos still probably won't be able to fire support weapons or toss grenades inside?

#3 why wouldn't the CMs get brought in line with every other profession? this IS a vital gameplay issue, MUCH more vital than some stupid spam adding droid

#4 if you do remove auto-fixing of bikes will fixing bikes at garages actually work? since i'm probably one of the only ones who have actually fixed my bike without using the bug i've noticed that about half the time i fix it, then store it right away and then next time i pull it out its right back where it was before fixing it, please FIX this bug, i have never seen any update notes saying you've fixed this or any confirmation that this is a known bug and is being worked on, once again THINK before you change, i know its hard but please try

They will give us what they want to give us when they are ready.

Errrr, I pay for this game, if I pay for a game (and continue paying) I want the the things that are BROKEN (i.e. dont work) to be fixed. Its that simple. If you want to be fobbed off thats fine by me but dont waste my money too.

But lets keep in mind the concept of "Constructive Player Input"!

They dont listen, what else is there to say, its proven that they dont listen, we ask for a fix and we dont see it but they still spend time fixing skins or giving DE things that will be forgotten in a feeew days because they arent up to scratch. We got to this point because constructiveness doesnt seem to reach them, they dont listen, the have tpo listen for construcitveness to even come into it.

On a side note I do think the DEVsare trying to distract us from all "problems" that exist in game now by handing out shinny new toys (droids).

I for one would love to see 5 min star port wait times. But I agree with them dropping the anywhere to anywhere idea.

Something we actually agree on.

IMO it would ruin the feel of galactic travel.

In your opinion, I would like to point out that in MOST peoples opinion this is a bad idea, it wastes time, mine and most other peoples (probably including yours). BTW what is the FEEL of glactic travel, and WHAT does it have to do with standing at yet another starport for 10 minutes ??????. As an ex partner used to say go sell your crazy elsewhere im not buying.

*shakes head in despair*

This game is going rapidly nowhere. Each new publish brings with it more problems and more bugs, without exception.

I am going to pick just oneproblem out of this publish, which can be seen very plainly by many people, Ad barking. Instead offixing the spam now prevalent in high traffic areas, the devs are going to make it worse with droid ad barkers! Unbelievable! Implement a better channel system (take a good look at Everquest) and only then intoduce 'ad barkers', restricting themto barking in pre-defined channels.

Please...please...dont fix this bug !
Declare it as a "feature".

1. The Swoop is damaging WAY to fast - this would be a
credit sink for hard working, non rich players, especially noobs with sponsored vehicles (common situation).

They simply cant afford many repairs what makes their bikes/swoops unusable.

So either sink the repaircosts drastically or raise the "being ok"-times of vehicles drastically.

If you "only" fix this bug without rebalancing the vehicles, youre only doing the half work.

SWG got many non-combat stuff for peeps who like to play non-combat roles, many peeps earning money over longer periods, not as quick as blasting a lair.

I insanly ask you to kick this "bugfix" from the roll and redeclare it as a "feature".

Actually, I think this was discounted as an exploit and allowed to remain in-game because they could not fix the cloning problem behind the vehicles themselves.

I'm assuming that since they're taking away this "our-eyes-have-been-closed-to-it-feature", that they have fixed the problem of repairing your vehicle, then calling it later only to find out that it didn't keep its repaired state. This was usually caused by "auto-storing" and "I can't store it no matter what i do" problems.

And I agree, damage to vehicles comes waaaay too fast. Lol they lose 25-50 RIGHT AFTER you repair it and hop on it, geeze, at least give it a few minutes, lol.

As an established player, any repair cost on it is ignored and yawned at. BUT as a noob, the repair costs suck and I won't be able to afford tokeep it in repair unless I decide to never upgrade my weapon or clothes, or armor. Noobs already have enough costs of upkeep and upgrades just to stay alive, much less get ahead.

The issue as I see it is that the whole shuttle wait time was developed during beta as a means of socializing. Fact is this is now a mature product. Most people have friends, pa's, etc and don't need the shuttle waits to socialize. I know I use a macro to take my ticket now and go grab something from the kitchen while waiting. I don't think in the last 6 months I've seen anyone carry on more than a one sentence conversation with someone that isnt an existing friend. It is most certainly time for these time sinks to leave us.

Eh, it takes time.

Actually they did promise they would reduce starport times (implicitly) and they did promise they would make it any planet to any planet (explicitly):

Shuttleports WILL be 5 minutes, players WILL be able to travel from any planet to any planet. We are discussing the DETAILS of reducing starport times. Two explicit changes promised. When you say we are discussing the details of reducing starport times, that necesarily implies that starport times are being reduced. By logic necessity that statement means starport times are being reduced in publish 8. So they did promise this. If the change it they lied. If you continued paying for this game based on that representation they may very well be liable for that misrepresentation.....

So they said that shuttleport waits would be changed and that starport times were being discussed, not being changed. Congratulations, you've proven my point.

Has anyone on TC gotten this (Aqualish cave) explorer badge? I went there last night and explored both in and around the cave for about 20 minutes, but either the trigger area isn't implemented or I'm very unlucky and didn't happen to step in it. I'll try again in a week or so to see if it's fixed.

Aqualish Badge confirmed working on Test Center!

Whereas the first push of the patch to TC did NOT fix the badge, the badge does in fact work correctly now, and shows up with correct text.

I might be the first person in the game to get all 45+5 Explorer badges.

Screenshot collage of all the badges is at:

The Aqualish Cave badge is near the top of the third column.
