Thunderheart can you please respond to these questions:

  • Can the development team please provide the community with a valid reason for pushing back the combat revamp?

The most important reasons are:

  • I understand that there are many people against having Jedi in the game, but it is part of the game. En masse, the community was adamant that we change the holocron/professions system and that time is now.

and my point is sealed it is'nt the devs fault about the jedi its the communitys fualt suck it up. you got what you wanted. AND for my old qoute

I don't know if any of you guys listen to Tool but this kinda hits me like "shut up and buy my new record."

It's clearly about marketing and money here...duh (slaps self upside the head), Jedi and JTL are the selling points and money makeing hopes of this project right now. Is anyone surprised that all the things we've been despreatly waiting for aren't going to happen until JTL?

You'll buy JTL anyway, you'll keep your account anyway.

"All you hear andsee...is a product waiting for your fat filthy dollar......you bought it, buy, you bought it"

BTW yes I'm palning on being as constructive as possible after this post but wanted to vent. I quess I feel cheated that the game I bought won't getwhat it needs because of the game they want me to buy next.

/venting off

I look forward to the changes that are being made currently, hopefull the pre-CB things will make life more fun untill the CB

I would much rather have the CB & GCW revamped before JTL.

The JTL expansion will have bugs that will take more time away from the ground game. Please fix what we have now before adding more content. Focus on the people and broken professions that have been playing & paying for a year, please!!

I can wait till next year for JTL.

It's so sad that there are so many things in SWG that need to be balanced, fixed, adjusted and tweaked yet all the Devs can do is put out new stuff.

If the Devs read the forums as much as they say then why is it that they think that by adding more stuff and not fixing the things that need fixing or balancing those that need it, it will make the players happier ??

By reading the forums you Devs would know that getting things fixed and balanced is the top thing people want to happen NOT add more stuff.

You compele;y fubar'ed CH in their rebalance and now you have completely fubar'ed jedi in theirs. While I understand that they needed balance the problem you created is that you balanced them with the Combat Revamp in mind and that is TOTALLY WRONG !!!!

You can not balance a profession with the idea that when the Combat Revamp comes everything will be all good because between now and then you have a profession that is totally gimped.

How many people are CHs now ? Not very freaking many that's for sure.

How reason you have alot fo Jedi running around now is because they are mostly new Jedi and haven't gotten past the whole, "WOOT I'm a Jedi !!" feel to it yet.

The older Jedi all hate the Revamp. I persoanlly never got to really play much pre-pub 9 so post-pub 9 isn't too bad for me except for the fact that you screwed up the Jedi trees pretty good. Now most Jedi are all the same skills......good job bringing diversity into Jedi.

Jedi Robes have NO PROTECTION LIKE THUNDERHEART SAID THERE WAS GOING TO BE !!!!

TH,

The biggest flaw I see in the development team's goals is adding content. The largest goal the development team should have is fixing broken professions. I'm sure there are lots of people who want new content on a publish by publish basis, yet what everyone should realize is that fixing broken professions is adding new content to the game. Let's examine the truth of this statement -

Combatants -

For each combatant that is fixed, every player has a new group-mate that can help them in group situations much more than they previously could. Moreover, PvP combat becomes enhanced when you have new enemies to worry about.

Crafters -

Fixing broken crafting professions leads to more schematics and new markets for everyone. With the chef revamp, everyone in the game got a whole new plethora of goodies to play around with that could enhance their style of play.

Entertainers -

When Image Designers were fixed, everyone loved making cool new looking characters and using holoemotes. When Musicians/Dancers were given mind buffs, lots of medics and combatants had a fun new way of making their skills all the better.

Scouts -

By adding camo kits to the Ranger profession, persons who could not explore the high level content of the harsher worlds were able to trek places they never could before. By letting +creature harvesting effect the amount of resources harvested, the market for resources became more a battle of Scout skills and less of who could kill the largest creatures. By allowing grouped Scouts to harvest the same creatures, Scouts we encouraged to group and take on the upper level content that they could not do so alone.

Medics -

I'm not really sure what to say. I don't even know how Combat Medics make money.

The Conclusion -

With the obvious exclusion of Medic professions, fixing broken professions gives content to everyone in the game. Quit making super hard dungeons with uber loot. Quit adding race tracks for the swoop junkies. Start fixing professions. Start realizing the content you have infront of you.

What can be expected from the combat revamp? What should be our expectations?

Only a few defense numbers changed? Everything changed ?

I'm hoping that JTL is beyond fun.... that it doesn't havea gameplay stoppersuch aswhat Combat Medics / Defense Stackers / Uber loot Mind weapons / Combat Imbalances have done to SWG (issues that destroy the fun factor).

Rather than make any grand posts or documents, I've chosen a different path. One of action. Each week, I'll be working with the community on these items to develop plans, post them and then make them part of the web site. As part of these delay changes, the team has given me additional weight in the decision making process.

I have to complete the hiring process, finish the transition and then I'll get to work with the community.

Seeing as Jedi and CH got "balanced" (CH's MONTHS ago), can we expect these profs to be "un-balanced" until the balance ?

The Combat Balance will now be at least 1 year late if it goes live in November (we were told the CB would start in November 2003 for 3 months).

Yes. I'll be working with all of you and the correspondents to identify the most important changes and work with the team to add them.

Let me explain something about your last little change. CM's lose the x2 range multiplier. Ok, it sucks at first glance. When I throw together a poison, I was going for range. Even at the expense of effectiveness. So, now that range is worthless, I'm now throwing everything into effectiveness. I'm wearing 38% 90% base stun comp and don't get hurt much anyway. It took me till this change to realize that range doesn't matter since almost nothing goes through my armor and psg and rifleman defenses. Effectiveness in a poisin is all that matters now so that's all i experiment on. You just added 100 pts a tick to my poisons by trying to throw in a partial fix to combat balance. Thanks. Throwing a poison 75m was neat, but this is better.

What's this mean? This was only one small change and it wasn't thought out far enough. How is SOE expecting to do, say, 10 or 15 of these at the same time. Everything that gets tweaked seems to throw this game more out of balance because the basic mechanics are hosed. You have to start at the bottom. You can't fix a broken fix by placing another fix on top.

Re-do it from the bottom up,and do it right.

Things are not looking good for our heros.

I would have been fired so fast if anything I coded contained even a portion of the bugs I've seen here. It's unprofessional. Either the management here has never worked on a real project, or they don't consider this to be real. It's being treated as a group a kids making their own personal game, not a product that people are paying for. I'll continue to play, because I'm a sucker, but part of my monthly fee goes towards allowing me to whine on the boards, so here it is.

ok let me get this straight so you devs decided to NOT do the combat revamp and wait until JTL is finished? You just gave everyone who belived you guys were going to do this right for once. your reasioning makes no sense you just pissed the WHOLE community and haveLOSTALLTRUST that you devs would do something right for a change.

so TH please answer these questions: Why should we still play this game? Why should we trust you and the devs?

You know this game is supposed to based around a WAR right? I have never been or sought out PVP in this game because as it is all we have is an empty shell of what it should be. All this game is right now is a place for Star Wars fans to congregate and talk. The Empire is a joke and so is the Rebellion. Servers are bare of people, most cities are ghost towns; Solution? Combine half of the serverstogether for all I care.

I remember this was supposed to be the any man's MMORPG. Where someone without much time to play could just come on and play. Right now here is the routine: Log on, wait 10 min for a shuttle, wait 10 minutes in line for a buff, wait another 10 minutes to shuttle to the planet you wanted to run missions on in the first place. Slaughter some animals or npcs that don't effect you because buffs make you undefeatable. 30 min wait time to just START playing a game where you should be able to jump on and enjoy. Once you master your profession you don't have anything to show for it besides killing animals faster so you try another profession just so you can say you ACCOMPLISH something when you finally log off.

Will I keep my account? Sure I will. I love StarWars too much and I know too many people on this game to leave them. But I will not really enjoy my 'gaming' time until JTL comes out and maybe I can log on, blast some people who do spontanious things instead of dumb as doornail NPCs.

In the performance so far in the game I am utterly disapointed and I have not recommended any people to buy this game if they have not already.
