my only question/concern to this will be the effect it may have on the already at times bad lag. If there are numerous factional bases on a planet, will it also affect the other NPC spawns? For example, Dant on my server is already heavily populated at times. If say 15-20 players drop a factional base, will it decrease the amount of PVE spawns on the planet?
Thanks,

I've been playing since day 2, and it's difficult for me to vocalize exactly how great a change this will be (along with the vet. rewards and the TEF removal.)
You're reshaping the game and making it more fun to play with each patch. If you implement all of this properly, you'll be coming very close to what a lot of people were expecting when they purchased SWG. The linchpin is 'planetary control'; it has to mean something, or people will have no interest in doing base kills regularly.
You guys are on a roll lately. Keep rolling.

One request I would have with this is to consider where both PvP and PvE bases can be placed. I see potential for some sort of trouble to occur. Ihings like ... let's surround this POI or hunting ground with PvE bases. I'm sure there are other possabilities as well.

Ok can I ask a Q or two here? First of let me say I like the new developments very much it feels like you guys are working round the clock to bring us good stuff right now and it is much appreciated.
However I have a minor concern about the new base system, namely will there be a planetary cap for these things? Right now it sounds like there will be an awful lot of PvE bases out there (especially if 2 come free with every PvP base), are you planing on implementing a lifetime or cap on thse bases to prevent planets becoming swamped with them? Just asking cause these sound like they are going to be seriously popular.
Next up will planetary control apply to all planets? I mean there are fictional political and logistical reasons for some planets to remain allied to one faction specifically. I'd hate to see Naboo or Tatooine become overtly rebel or visa versawith Correlia, after all how annoyed is the Emperor going to be if his retreat becomes rebel teritory?!
Basically I guess I'm talking about SW canon here, and I've the feeling that one or two planets at least should remain base camps for a faction so they do have a safe haven to retreat to.
Hope that sounds like good feed back, pretty minor itches to scratch really, but I hope it's more useful thanmy just drooling over the great ideas you keep posting lol.
Gift.

This all sounds pretty neat, and may make it a bit easier for people to get their faction points.
I do worry that people have no way of helping defend their bases. Perhaps a system could be implimented where the base's owner could control the defense in some way. Maybe even control some sort of turret or at least choose how their soldiers or other defenses are deployed. I know that this isn't going to happen soon, I'm just brainstorming here.
I can see something like this being cool. Your base comes under attack by someone and you get a message on the screen saying that one of your bases has been attacked. You could then type in a command like /basedefend and you have the option of taking control of one or more turret to take shots at the invaders. You could of course, just let them attack, if you don't feellike defending, but shouldn't the owner get a little fun too?
Again, just an idea. Feel free to tell me why I am a retarded moron if you wish.

There is a serious flaw in this design, you really need to make the area around a PvP base, combat enabled only, I can just see the raids now, they send in a group of coverts to clear out the npc's at no risk then cause confusion then a few overts come in and take out the base. This is a whole new form of griefing, I really hope you consider all scenarios so we dont get a half-a**ed system like before which allowed so many different kinds of grief.

Hey Devs, what if you already own a Detachment HQ but haven't placed the deed? Will we still be given 2 PVE bases since the base hasn't been placed yet? And what about those that currently have bases down?
From what I understand the answer is no. We'd receive replacement faction points to soften the blow. But isn't there a cap on faction points? If I already have like 40k faction and the cap is like 65K for Colonels...would I only get the max I'm allowed to have at one time and get shortchanged?
