 Pt 3Thunderheart,
The changes all look very good. I do, however, have a couple suggestions:
- Spread the pet storage increase around. Concentration will reward dabbling.
- Adjust the stats of (aka Nerf) the 3 most popular non-CH pets (cowardly gurreck, rock beetle, mtn krevol) so that they become CL10 and will remain usable by non-CH.
But overall... very good work!

Good point about spreading out the Storage mod, I can take the training tree and the management tree, call a graul mauler, have 16 storage slots, and be able to tame mounts. HAHA, yes, now I am a chocobo farmer. Ahh, the millions I will rake in.
Good job Devs. With the exception of giving MCH 4 more storage slots. I see no real use for these changes.
Medium armor pets have been declared taboo. Has this been changed? If im not mistaken, gurreks had medium armor once upon a time, will it be restored? Doubtful.

Change Call level of Kaadu male to 10 so non ch people can have them to ride.
It seems wrong that only carrion spats can be used by the vast majority of the players.
Thunderheart PLEASE ask them to change this.
Yes i know that BEs can change CL but .. If im a master ch I have already saved up 5 slots on male kaadu but no one will be able to use them but other ch that makes no sense.
I want to be able to go out and train kaadu for the populace to supply them. But i prefer the kaadu over spat.
Too bad they aren't listening to their nonCH subscribers at all.'
Bingo. Started off as a way to balance the class, ends up strengthening it. I look forward to future CH 'nerfs' in the future as every time a change they dont like is mentioned, the forums erupt with one star ninjas worried their ability to play on Easy mode will be taken away and the Dev's crumble. The worrying thing about this one is its being touted as the long term vision, so in essence the way this game is played combat wise will be the same for a long time to come - we all need pets to be successful.
Think you could bring some of those 'nerfs' to BH next?
All I won't to know is will I still be able to call my mauler at 3/2/x/x? And if not? What do I need to still be able to call my mauler with the latest nerf?
Thanks

Try fixing instead of nerfing. Nerfing is for losers and cowards.

Pt 3I don't agree with most, if not all these changes.
However, instead of SOE's "Continuity be damned!" approach how about you go ahead and nerf Rancors with this as well. I don't care if you add in something which is basically a Rancor in a different shell(body), but Rancors are special in Star Wars. I also think it would be nicer if the building size pets were shrunken a tad.
Grey_Ghost
I would like to agree on the Grey's comment about the building sized pets. As most people know, large animals that are raised in captivity rarely grow to be the size of those that are raised in the wild.
Since the pets that CHs train are found in the wild and brought to captivity as a child (a tiny datapad nonetheless!), wouldn't it make sense that they would be smaller?
Also, it would also make sense that they would not be as powerful as though found in the wild. Now, I don't mean to throw this off as a nerf, instead, I propose a galactic increase in mob creature power. This would allow the CHs to stay happy with their powerful pets, and make the adventure planets more difficult and exciting for Master Commandos and the such.
Comments?
No, it doesnt make sense, these parts aren't weakend through generations of domestication, nor are they giant killer whales stuck in a tank instead of roaming the open seas. These are wild animals captured as babies, and raised to be warriors, any decrease in ability due to being captured has been more than compensated for by its rigorous training routine.
As for the physical size, it more annoying in the field than it ever will be in town.

This post is just an idea that might be cool for Creature Handler's down the line:
Make a building that can only be owned by certain level CH's that can house pet's. Call it a Zoo or a Pet Store or a Cage. Maybe have different sized ones that can hold different numbers of creatures. The CH can offload his pet or pets from the datapad into the building. The maintenance on the building could consist of power, cash, and FOOD. If the food component goes to zero, the pets start disappearing. Maybe have an outside terminal where other characters could come up and purchase the pets, kinda like a mini-bazaar built in.
Just an idea. Please don't super flame me!

The changes aren't bad but I actually don't think they are strong enough. I am mastering CH now and I really enjoy the class and will master it regardless of changes the devs make but I would like to see the class be a little more exclusive.Dabblers will still be prevalent with these changes and I was hoping it would make people master the class or get out.
I personally don't think the class is to powerful, especially considering how frequently I die in PvP and PvE. I'm a commando, wear good armor, have good weapons, have good tactics, and still get spanked. There's still a huge element of strategy and tactics in the PvP part of the game and a good BH / TK / rifleman / whatever can take on a walking meat shield. I've taken down numerous CH's with rancors and mereks. Strategy and tactics is the key.
Many of the other professions are broken to some degree or another. That is why people are flocking to CH. Help the devs fix those classes by giving good feedback and not complaining about other classes.
Oh, and fix Acid Rifles on Commando. PLEASE!!!!

Thunderheart let me say Thank you I dont post alot but I'm here reading the threadseveryday. At first when I read your post about the nerf for CH I couldn't belive it. But you stood up, you communicated our issues, and our comments, and you were heard!!! After reading your last post on this issue it looks to be ok. I agreed from the begining that other players were exploiting the CH tree and I thought that could be easily fixed and thats exactly what you've done and still let it be a fun class for us who were planing on mastering in anyway!!.
I would like to personally thank you and you should pat yourself on the back you have really done the impossible. you have really made SOE re-think there method for "fixing" classes" not just "ohh there too uber lets nerf them, to your route of "lets really address all the issues here and see what can be done to make it fun for everyone, not just nerf the heck out of the class"Some sacrifices will be made in the long run but I belive this is for the good of all CH's
BRAVO !!!! Thunderheart good job......REALLY good job

So which is it...does your pet have to be in the non-CH range to transfer from the datapad, or does your pet have to know the 'transfer' skill?
I've transferred CH-only pets before in the datapad. And I'm pretty sure (but not absolutely positive) that I've transferred pets /without/ the transfer command.
However...I'm willing to admit that it's possible I've never tried transferring a CH pet without the transfer command--though I HAVE surely transferred a non-CH pet without that command. And I'll also allow that I've transferred CH
Bleh. I cut myself off.
As I was saying...
And I'll also allow that I've transferred CH creatures WITH the transfer command in my trade window.
So I can't confirm: Can one transfer a CH pet /without/ the transfer command from your datapad to the trade window? The other two options (CH with transfer, non-CH without transfer) seem to work just fine.
Everybody...still wins?
This has been my experience......
Non CH pets up to level 15 will secure trade for anyone.
CH Pets above level 15require the "transfer" coomand to secure trade.
This just chaged or was "fixed"!?!? not too long ago.....please correct me if im wrong ![]()
