In the teams effort to resolve the PvP Death and Decay, what we are going to be able to implement (for publish 7), is a Faction Combat Day Pass. This "day pass" is Insurance.

You check in with your faction recruiter, purchase a day pass for faction combat (PvP and PvE), and for 24 hours, you will have no decay on your insured items.

How much do you think this should cost?

200 FP. The same amount it takes to become a rebel/imperial

I have a question/issue with the devs on this one.

They cameout and said they could not give us a bye on decay for PVP because theycould not track the source of a kill. NOW they can and want to charge us for it?

Anyone else have a bit of an issue that something we were suppodsed to be given for 'free' is now something we are to suggest a cost for combined witht hte fact that they just said it wasn't possibe?

PvP now is losing proposition. In a good fight where you get one kill and then get one death against the same guy you are both out FP. Negative sum gain. Add in cost of FP for decay pass.

Is there ever a point at which gaining FP is viable for relatively close matched players in PvP? As it stands now you have to have a 2:1 kill/death ratio to come out on top. The ratio gets skewed further when you purchase the decay pass.

Keep the charges away from faction points. Use credits. I say 2000 is more than worth it.

100 faction points seems a fair cost to me. 100 fp can be earned relatively easily.

I have seen alot of kinda silly amounts here.Let's face it people, if you want a free decay day pass it should cost a little bit more than just 25 FPs, It should cost at least 100 FPs. Why? Cause it will last ALL DAY (barring any bugs that should be fixed on the test center) Serioues PVPers usually brag about getting a few hundred FPs a Raid so why not make it cost a little more, besides in under an hour the typical player can get that many FPs from missions right before they hit up an opposing city.

Just my 2 holocrons

Well, if PvPing had any type of a reward and wasn't a gank fest, then yeah. I wouldn't mind it costing something...

I would like to voice how much I dislike this idea. One of the problems with the GCW is the preperation time, the amount of time it takes to get ready and find PvP action when you wish to participate. This system adds yet another 'thing' that we have to do before we go PvP, we dont need yet another prep item thats designed specifically to waste our time and to act as a sink for FP.

I personally don't mind item decay as it stands, it does attempt to prevent infinite wave after wave attacks on things like faction bases.

The part that concerns myself is that if insurance is to be purchased with faction points, Imperial aligned aliens are placed at an immediate disadvantage. No matter what "standard price" is agreed, the alien modifiers will double or tripple the cost.

Using general figures from the perspective of a social player, with a character that has reasonable combat skills:
*To earn around 100FPs (solo and ising factional missions), can take about 15/20 mins (from terminal to base destruction).
*Assuming 2 missons are taken and they spawn reasonably close to each other, this could be 25mins work to acquire 200FPs - not taking into account any slip ups (unexpected pve deathblows etc) and using a terminal on a higher level planet, eg dantooine.

If the FP cost for insurance is set at 70FP, that means a x3 alien modified alien will have to spend 30minutes earning faction points, before they can PVP on an equal footing.

If a person is limited to an evening gaming session of 2 hours, and wishes to spend that time in pvp, 1/4 of their time will be spent acquiring the required number of faction points. Not to mention waiting for shuttles, finding opponents etc.

My apologies if any of this has been said before, but I couldn't wade through 12 pages of posts that all seemed to say the same thing.

Actually, if there was something like a 3 strikes thing like someone else mentioned it wouldn't be a clone battle.

After each death, you lose a bigger percentage of your HAM. AFter three cloned deaths, you are completely black barred, effectively taking you out of the fray...

TH..dont forget we lose freakin faction points when we die in PvP!!!!!

I have a question as well.

Do you guys want the GCW to be fun? Or another exercise in drudgery? How about making something fun first instead of implimenting penalties right off the bat.

Put in no decay in faction combat. Period. No if ands or buts. Why? Because the GCW is abandoned due to poor game design. When you actually make the GCW rewarding, then you can think about the penalties.

So, make things fun and rewarding first, then thing about penalties...

You are not going to get any constructive suggestions from this thread. No one wants this. It is not what is needed. I understand you are just the messanger Thunderheart (so I will not shoot you).

I think we all need to send the message back to the Dev's (thru Thunderheart) that this is not what we want in our game. Do not make any suggestions for this. There are none to make. I mean come on......

Even if we look at it. I read someone say 1000 FP for Overt and 2000 FP for Covert. Do you know what that translates into credits. It costs a Master Snuggler 10000 credits for 125 FP. So you want to pay almost 100000 credits for a one day Faction Pass? Would be 200000 credits for overt. That is just insane.

The message I would like taken back to the Dev's is this:

No Insurance = 5% decay

Insurance = 0% decay

Raise the insurance if deemed necessary. Hell even raise the cost of cloning. Just make it so if you are insured that your items do not decay, period.

I'm going to have to agree with those that say the decay should be gotten rid of all togther. You have people out there that are afraid to PVP because their cool armor that they had someone custom build and that they added some extremely 'hard to find'attachments to just decayed a bit. I, just like everyone else wanna get into the GCW but am tired of watching my armor take on damage, degrade, then disintegrate after using an armor repair kit... money sink?A bit on the over kill there... Armorsmiths are already getting some good business with damage taken on armorbut with the decay as well, it adds up too quickly (although I do wish we could take out those hard to find enhancements that we paid someone an arm and a leg for). As far as keeping the tailors in business, I'm all for that! More clothing styles would be great since I'm always trying to find that 'perfect' look for my character...

But back to the question asked....

I don't think it should cost anything... if anything, insurance should take care of it. The crafters with no weapon skills are already getting jacked when they're ganked during aharvestor check, but to have them do factional missions to keep from having items decay just to check those harvestors... I dunno, bad call... *shrug* And what would we do with the insurance terminals if this is implemented? They'd get no use anymore cept by the neutrals who would still be getting jacked with the decay rule...

And since when did our local recruiter become a insurance sales man too??Well, I guess if he could sell furniture, he could sell just about anything...
