Thread: ID#2: Two Changes to Bazaars and Vendors
I think raising the cap on regular bazaars is both good and bad: Its good so that people can sell higher priced items (duh!), but that also means that people wont visit vendors since they can get what they want from the bazaars. Obviously this isn't true for the higher priced items but I would still expect to see a lack of visits to external vendors.
Personally, I would like to see more options avialble to sort items. For example, for certain meds I need a resource type of Flower, now to find that on the bazaar without actually knowing which resource is a type 'Flower' ![]()
Also, I dont really see the benifit of premium sales. Ive never used them myself, but the ones ive seen are just with a petty little star next to them! Big wow. Maybe it premium sales should 'sticky' to the first cupple of pages (depending on payment) similar to how search engines work. Also, enable the ability to use colour and font sizes for premium sales but not on regular sales, therefore making them more 'visable' and more worth the money paid.
This will be a MAJOR game breaking blow to all tailors. In order to offer a selection of clothing in a variety of colors I have at least 400 items on my clothing vendor at any given time. 150 items per vendor is not enough. It is bad enough that vendors are very laggy. Please do not establish a 150 item cap on vendors. Tailor is the most item intensive profession and needs to maintain that ability.
-------------------------------------------
An item limit is going to be placed on vendors and that limit is intended to be placed on 150.
-------------------------------------------
Sounds good. That makes lot easier to check vendors. But in that case 6 vendors is not enough anymore.
Lots of merchant (me included) are selling items on many planets. and this moment only way to do multiplanet trading is to have huge load of stuff in one (or 2 in big malls)vendor. If and when limit comes to 150, vendors run out ofitems way too fast and selections of items will go down a lot.
So. ok. if DB cant handle one vendor over 150 item then lets give master merchants more vendor. People can acces vendor and browse items more easily, database will be smaller since ppl dont store items on vendors as much and master merchant can really be master merchant and do multiplanet trading.
Price Cap Up = Very Good (could be a bit higher)
Amount of Items 150 = Bad (perhaps 250 - 300)
150 Item per vendor limit? I am a merchant/politician. I have 6 vendors. 3 are mine and 3 are for public use. I have a vendor in our city's hospital selling stims and spice that our doctors and smugglers make. I have a vendor in our theatre to sell musican instruments and some clothing for the musician who owns it (nothing much else can be done with a theatre except eat up city funds each week), I have a merchant tent with a vendor that the public can use, they offer items up for sale, I buy them and resell. Sort of like a public bazaar.
This leaves me 3 vendors. I run a resources company with 5 other people. I sell anywhere from 300-500 stacks of resources each day. With 150 per vendor limit, I will be forces to have less variety and quantities of resources. I usually have one vendor with about 1000 stacks on it. Which I have to restock every 2 days. You will force me to restock at least once a day, sometimes twice if I have a run on an item.
My only option to continue my business will be to remove the vendors I have for citizen use and hoard them all for myself. Do you also realize how stupid 6 vendors will look in a single tent?
If this change goes into effect, I will have to quit being a resources seller because I play this game for fun, not for a second job. I don't want to have to constantly stock my vendor just to stay in business. Doing it twice a day for 2 hrs each is a job.. I already have one of those that takes up 45hrs a week of my lifethank you very much.
Raising the cap on the Bazaar I say no to. It makes people go out and look at vendors to get what they need.I think it would take away oppertunity for impulse buying. Say this person is looking for a medical supplies and sitting next to it is my vendor of droids. Afterthis personbuys what he/she needs over there he may see my vendor and look though it and say hey I need that droid.
Putting a cap on vedors. I can live with that.....
The bazaar change is fine IF you also let bazaar terminals be placed in player cities.
Also, if you need limits, 300 is much more workable.
I agree that the bazaar cap should be higher. 6000 or even 10,000 sounds fine.
I think the vendor cap should be higher than 150 for most peoples use. I could see armorsmiths and weaponsmiths being hurt the most by this. 150 items is what, 21 full sets of armor?
What do backpacks count as? 1 item, or the number of items inside?
Why not make the cost of the vendor go up once you pass this threshold, so if people want to pay a bit extra for more stock they can?

I think if you made things go into the correct bazaar catagories, (pet medicine goes in the pet medicine catagory instead of pharmasutical (sp?)) it would make them a whole lot easier to use.
I wouldn't mind raising the price cap on vendors, altho that'll probably lead to more price gouging on resources (a direct result of holo hunters), but I'm against sucha low cap on Vendor items. Double it and I think you'd have a better solution.
As both a DE and a Master Artisan I have to keep hundreds of crates of various products on vendors. I sell powerups - at least 50 crates a day. In order to be useful I have to stock at least 8 different kinds (my ideal collection is melee x6 varieties, ranged x4 and grenades x2). At 150 items, that's less than two full runs of powerups. From a DE perspective, I sell 50-70 crates of BH droids a day. Considering that a run of 300 will take me 8 days to produce, there would be really no point in having a vendor because I would never be stocked when people want it. An absolute minimally acceptable vendor limit is 1000 items. If it is the limit you are suggesting, it would be pointless for me to be a merchant - buying and reselling others junk is what I do for a living. To serve my customers, that is the entire idea - having a lot of stock.
Opening up the bazaar limit = Very good
Limiting the vendor items to 150 = very bad. I don't need to repeat all the reasons why, you've probably read them above.
I find it equally annoying, and while increasing the cap to 10 - 12k might help reduce city spam a little, it would seriously hurt the Merchants & those useing private Vendors.
The private Vendors add some fun to this game in my opinion. I like looking around and finding good deals on Vendors. With a bazaar cap of 10 - 12k, half that looking around would be pointless, the Merchant class would take a massive hit, as they would loose a larg part of their business manageing vendors for other players.
My Merchant makes 2k per sale. She maintains a vendor tent, keeps my merchant stocked, and even helps advertise by sending WPs to people asking to buy spice in the big cities. A 10 - 12k cap on the bazaar would make her services useless to me.
