Thread: Friday Feature Jan 23rd Jedi Revamp
Something like : "Holocron will stay in the game, but they wont necessarily be related to mastering prof to unlock FS" or something similar!
Anybody else remember that?
Devs and other Powers-That-Be,
The new Jedi Death Penalty is simplytoo soft. Three to five deaths per week -- penalty free --is too gracious.
I would alter the system to allow for only one free death per week. Anything more than one death per week should be penalized with at least one skill box loss. I submit that a loss of two or more skill boxes for more advanced Jedi is a fair alternative.
On a related note, since permadeathis beingremoved, what then has become of the blue glowies?

Agreed they havent said they are changing the FSCS way of opening.... but they havent exactly said it remains have they, they are just vague...
They should just agree an amount of professions to master, then tell you all the ones u need to do, have some sort of indicator... EXCEPT you have to keep the master title for a month to truly learn/know that profession, that way, if its 5 professions you have to master for FSCS... you know it will take you 5 months.... and you can choose which order to do them... fancy a bit of combat, do the combat one, fancy some crafting do the crafter etc etc....
That will keep a stable market (instead of the crazy holo grinding prices), people will respect professions, randomness is taken away and the game can be played without having to be on it 24/7 powergrinding....
Only problem is, in time, there will be alot of Jedi (although the way people grind there will be anyway as most people look to make jedi), therefore Permadeath would be better.... but then perhaps they could reward you by just making 2 or 3 profession to re-open jedi slot?... That way jedi numbers would rise and decline....
One thing they need to fix are the nerfed combats... commandos kd/dizzy, eye shot spamming etc... they are what make the game lame.... Oh and servers which are totally biased either rebel or imp....
First off, revamping the permadeath is a good job on the Devs part. Anexcellent idea on your part, and kudos to you for this. Now for the unhappy portion of my post. The current system for opening your FSCS is difficult, truly, nor is it particularyfun. However, a significant portion of the player community is quite far down this road. IF the Devs significantly change the route now, you will see ahuge loss of veteran players. We fought, spent, and died for the holocrons. Millions of Credits, and countless hours of Gameplay have been devoted to following their call. Like Lady Macbeth, I have gone way too far to turn around now. I don't want the game "rebuilt", I want it fixed. If you couldn't build it right the first time, why should I or anyone else, trust you to build it right the second time? The post was vague on what your intentions are for changing the path to jedi, and I see a few ways this could go, and the likely results for each.
1. The current system for getting the FSCS is completely redone, and switches to something completely different and of about the same difficulty, possibly quest based. Everyone who put so much effort, time, and credits into gaining holocrons and following their call is essentially screwed. We get a lame badge along the lines of "... completed 3 holocrons". This would be a betrayal of your players, and is completely unnacceptable.
2. The path tothe FSCSbecomes something different, but is relatively easy. Those of us who went far down the holocron road will be pissed, but this will be mitigated by having our Jedi in short order. This will be a direct contradiction of all those statements about "Jedi will be rare", "The life of a Jedi will be difficult", and so on. This may not break the game, but it will change the game into SWG: Jedi PvP.
3. A) The Path to the FSCS is only altered slightly. The holocrons/professions remain the bulk of what must be done. A few, EASILY FOUND, not overly difficult, quests become part of the path. In this case no big deal, maybe even bonus if there is a badge to get out of it.
3. B) If perhaps the final quest revealed your final profession for you, or at least narrows down your search(IE A voice in your head says ... the path to enlightenment is to be found in an elite marksman profession), then you have immeasurably improved the current system.
Well, those are the possibilities that I see. I'm always right, so hopefully you havebeen payingattention.
Yay. I can't wait to see armies of Jedi swarming Imperial/Rebel bases.
Maybe next can we have some Klingon Battle Cruisers?
Maybe some Sandworms? Or Fremen?
Jesus Christ...

Q-3PO stated: The second phase will be to rebuild the Jedi system to be quest-oriented; and to include the familiar elements of Force Sensitivity, Jedi-oriented quests, as well as many other elements the developers and the community feel should make up the process of becoming a Jedi. From this statement, I think we should assume the current method of opening your force-sensitive slot is not being changed. The system of going from a padawan to Jedi is being changed. Your not a Jedi just by opening your force slot. Your a to-be jedi.I agree, it doesn't sound as if they are changing the way you obtain your slot, but rather the play mechanics and features of the Jedi proffesion. Also, the BH coming on here are fools. I'm sorry but they are. They are crying because they cannot perma-kill the Jedi any longer, and I find that to be wrong. I would enjoy it alot more if people came on here to be constructive rather then destructive. Much love.

This does seem to be what he is stating. This seems more acceptable. Perhaps TH could clarify that point. If you dont change the way you open your FSCS and change the way you become a jedi this sounds more acceptable.
The current system for becoming is Jedi is so incredibly bad as to be mind-boggling... but at least it was mitigated by the fact that Jedi were faced with perma-death.
Now you are removing permadeath, and have PLANS to change the means by which one becomes FS to something that isn't drastically stupid.

My previous post is about Holocron!
LOL, from the In dev forum
Well i guess we have to live with that one, but i might have a few suggestions dealing with the Jedi matter. First of i would like to see "Ysalamiris" (Yes that like Forcestoppers) included into the game. Maybe as some kind of Special to the Master BH who actually has to deal with these Jedis.
Second, there is a predator critter in the game KOTOR, wich is said to attack Force Sensitives. I don't have their name at hand, but should not be to hard for Lucasemployees to find out. These ones could be included for CHs to deal with Jedi too.
Third, why not set the period of the game to a different time of SW? I mean, if it was placed after Episode VI the Devs would have many continuity problems solved. Jedi and even more powerful NPCs for the Rebels that fight in a more open conflict at that time. The only thing you'd have to do is to remove some NPCs from the Emperores Retreat
These are just a few thoughts that came to my mind....
