Hey everyone -

JTL is a high priority for us not only because it's something we believe that players really want (based on focus testing, press reviews and previews, forum posts, in-game feedback, PMs we receive, feedback from events such as Fan Fest Comic Con, surveys, etc.) but also because it is setting a tone for quality going forward. We also feel that we need to have JTL out there before we tackle the full-blown Galactic Civil War revamp because a large portion of the content is faction-based.

Mr. Blackman,

Some people are wondering about the validity of the focus testing and the so-called in-game interviews. As far as I can tell from the stratics polls (mostly forum readers) is that 80% of the players (in the forums) want the CB before JTL. Now instead of debating these facts I ask you this: Can we institute a launchpad poll system in which the players who never visit the forums must click an answer to the poll question after the EULA agreement? This will give the devs some hard data on what players want.

Also, is there any info on the Publish 10 release date? You all have some post publish 9 unlockers who are getting real antsy to play what they worked so hard for.

Thanks.

Welcome back and THANK YOU for talking to those of us at Comic Con, and for taking the time to post here. I got to see and play JTL at con and I am looking forward to it.

Well said. I'm one of those silent, generally happy types. I'm satisfied with the way the game is going, especially the recent small updates that address big combat issues. If these keep coming out you'll keep a lot of people happy. I can't wait for JTL.

Now, if we could get TH to explain his unpopular usage of "Poke'Man" in his early talks about the CH nerf, and keep JustG from causing more Jedi/BH flame wars than stopping, we would be a better community.

Thanks for the response.

Here is the meat of the nut for many, many people:

It doesnt seem as though you have enough programers writing code. The discontent is that we are not waiting for enhancements to the game - we are waiting for working systems.

There are many things that are flat out broken and need attention. Asking customers to continue to pay for a game, where many aspects don't work as intended/don't work at all is really, really frustrating.

I don't mean to sound cruel, but I don't care what the problems are. I am paying for a service that I have certain expectations for. Fix the game - now. If that means you have to hire 35 more programers, then do so.

I appreciate the post and the detailed comments on what you feel we as a community offer to SWG. We like to feel we are helping in a game we love.

I know that corrospondents have been collecting issues for short term "improvemnets" and looks like some will be live very shortly (CM). Two questions if I may:

1) There has been a lot of community discussion on the FRS system as it stands now and the "farming" for faction that can occur on normal players. Some folks have stopped going overt and reports are that the GCW has become even quieter. Is this something that will be addressed in the short term, or are we going to live in this "enviroment" (hiding from the jedi who prowl the streets of cnet) for the next few weeks?

2) It seems that there should be some correspondant issues that should be very straightforward to implament. Giving my own biased opinion it seems that somehow "un-combat balancing the Creature Handlers" by perhaps upping the total level of creatures controllable would be a very straightforward and easy adjustment to make. I think that players would feel much better if they saw some changes start to filter in ASAP, even if they are small in nature. Is it possible to start seeing some changes in the next week or so?

Thanks for the apologies and mia culpa.

I see the game getting better.... even though I still think you have the ass end of the donkey leading (JTL before balancing existing game issues) but I am not going away. I see the mini fixes coming which is being (generally) well received. Obvious that you are working hard.

Best to you,

I personally was very encouraged by most of what was said in your Interviews. Some comments did kinda raise my eyebrow though, heh, such as the one you addressed above. This brings me to my main point:

I have been around since Dec. 2, 2000 (got the email lol)..before the pre-launch forums were up and when there was a Mon-Cal on the home page heh. In the beginning of the forums, you guys were on daily posting design docs, discussing them with us for about an hour daily, and just letting us make points with you guys watching. The communication was awesome.

I would like to see a return to this. Responses like this and future communication as situations arise, instead of after they have broken any sense of control would really help us cope with things. I hope communication with the community guys and you especially,Haden, is more frequent. Kurt does a great job, but could we more frequent and widespread discussion going on? Some forums never see you guys.

Keep up the great work!

I'm glad you were able to clarify that statement Hayden. When I first read it I was like, there is no way he meant that like it sounded. I'm sure it caused you some angiush to see a large majority of the communtiy take it as a slight on the forum posters. The problem is that many of us feel like we've been lied to or at the very least mislead about the developers commitment to the combat revamp.

I ask you to puruse the following thread http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=GCW&message.id=222831which catalogs most of the major comments about the CB since last december and come back here and tell us how we are not to feel like we were mislead.

Wether we were or weren't our anger has seemed to spur some much needed changes in the game. NPC's have finally gotten there weapon and abilities back, making PVE much more fun. The dev team has finally begun to address the issues of CM's in PVP, in an intelligent and non-nerfbat manner. Plus now we are getting more direct information about upcoming changes. 'Cause of this I've decided to stay the course and see how Publish 10, JTL and the Combat Revamp pan out. I hope we're not disappointed.

Thank You for responding....it makes you look even worse when you kept quiet for the past few weeks. Thanks for explaining everything...You must acknoledge though we ARE paying customers though, we are paying...you are being paid and it hurts us whenever you do things like this because it costs US more money, some people who play this game do not have jobs so $15/month hurts, though its a great game.

Please, please, please do not say REVAMP again...When I think of revamp I think of 'smuggler revamp', 'gcw revamp', 'combat revamp'....things that are not going to get done. Like when you say 'ham revamp' I think of.....great, thats not going to get done...because you guys are changing everything in the game. Name your changes something like the 'combat redesign' ect....it gives me more hope.

Hurry up and get JtL out here because I want a gcw, I'm more excited over a GCW then combat....

For the sake of my sanity I'll be sticking to a "believe it when you see it" attitude and refraining from bothering to participate in any "In Concept" threads, etc from now on. You guys just make it too hard to participate on many, many important subjects.

If I want to hear conflicted, disjointed information in constantly shifting contexts and realities I'll justgo talk to my wife.

I'm sorry and I don't wanna disrespect the good work that's been done thus far, but it's feeling more and more like our thoughts and opinions are only collected for the sake of soothing our urge to participate in the game's development.
