I agree with one or two of the others that have mentioned it above TH...A place like coronet could be a death trap for someone right off the bat in this game due to lag alone. If they get dropped off anywhere near the shuttleport it will be bad news for them even if they have a good computer.

I would recommend sticking them on the outskirts of that city...or near a shuttlport farther away from the spaceport.

to enhance new player experience, i think you have to finish the debugging of npc quests

on corellia, vreni island, the 3 quest npc don"t work

on naboo, keren, quests given by Bardo Klinj and Lt Vana Sage don't work

please correct this !! the advanced planets in the game have good quests, all debugged but naboo and corellia still have some problems

I don't think you should send new players to Coronet...it's way to busy there. I started in Nashal, Talus and it was very nice to play my first few hours as a newbie there. There weren't much players and we few enjoyed to sit in the cantina and watch the entertainers, etc. I don't think something like that is possible in Coronet, with all the afk-spammers and entertainers.

Cant say I like the limited choices in starting locations. I started every one of my characters in Dearic and loved it. I also spend time there since it is easier to find new characters to help.

Corellia and Naboo might be too populated and people would more likely be overwelmed in my opinion.

Agreed!

I picked Doaba Guerfel as astarting city because of the description and I fell in love with the place. I knew Han Solo came from Corellia and so I had to make my home there, and the mountains reminded me of Colorado.

Having to start in Coronet could be disconcerting for someone like me. Besides the programmers spent a lot of time developing that whole choosing interface, it would be a waste to throw that immersion out the window.

Did you play through any of the enhanced new user experiences? Which ones? What did you think?

I just played through the whole Artisan bit... not bad, I must say. I was one of those who started playing SWG back on launch day, and I recall feeling somewhat directionless at first. Admittedly, I began as a brawler, so it wasn't so hard to figure out what to do (ie, go hit stuff)... but for something like an artisan, or scout, this wee droid was very useful.

Comments -- several times, neat toys would just be deposited into the inventory, and all you have as far as notification is the ol' System Message (which, in my opinion, is in serious need of an update too, at some point). My general thought here is that, as all your important messages are pretty much only viewable in the 'spatial' window, it will be very easy to miss quite a lot of the information, especially in cities like Coronet. Perhaps a 'Viewable-Only-To-You' droid speech bubble would be in order...

The bonus of the extra cash, XP boost, and the items is a very good idea. The vouchers and the vehicle rental, in particular, I think would go a long way to getting a new player started. However, the fact that the vouchers don't work (or I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to utilise them) will have to be resolved. The vehicle rental, at least, worked as advertised.

Suggestion -- During the course of performing all these survey/construction quests (and only these quests, nothing else), I made the XP for my Surveying I (and maxed the excess XP cap at 1000, too), and with the XP bonuses, very nearly enough for one of the other crafting trees. I think it's pretty much safe to say that any new player successfully completing these quests will be more or less in the same boat, so some droid assistance on 'leveling up' would be good. Automatically establish a waypoint & path to the nearest appropriate trainer, and probably some brief dialogue about what to do. At least with the quest bonuses, a player can easily afford the training. Plus, perhaps the droid could also guide the player to a mission terminal as a final training action.

So! Final analysis is, very good. I like it. For a novice artisan, I believe it'll get a new character up and running pretty well.

I agree on the starting locations bit. It isn't bad on TC, but on a Live server, Theed and Coronet are horrific.

My suggestion is just to update the descriptions in the original choice system. Have the updated text say Theed and Coronet are heavily populated if that's the draw.

Even a veteran player will be able to play through the New User Experience by picking up a starting skill. The system isn't limited to new accounts. You will receive a helper droid at that time you train in a starting skill box and be given the option to go through the directed experience for that skill.

played through the marksmen helper droid quests. . .it works very nicely. I didn't encounter any bugs and it gives a good intro to how things work.

I would suggest NOT forcing a player to start in either theed or coronet. many people will want to start elsewhere and I really think it should stay as is in terms of selecting a starting location. maybe you could have it so that theed and coronet are labeled as recomended starting points.

There is still a bug with the Scout profession helper quests; I can do the first four or so just fine, but then when I get to the point of having to build a tent, it just repeatedly gives the same thing over and over (build and place a basic camp kit out in the wild). The first time you do it it does give you the bonus credits/experience for completing the task. After that, you don't get anything else from it, just can't advance.

I tried this feature out several times with different characters this past week. Earlier in the week several bugs kept me from being able to do the quests, but they've since been fixed. One issue is that you claim the droid should be a mouse droid, but it is actually an R2 unit, I'm not sure which it should be.

Other than that, the only thing I have a problem with is this one:

Starting Locations: After new players leave the tutorial they will start in large and constant population of other players; Theed on Naboo and Coronet on Corellia. This will immerse players in a busy location where they can quickly and easily get involved.

I can't stress enough how much I hate this. I like the ability to choose where I want to start my character. At the very least, let the new player choose between Theed, Coronet, and Bestine. I know I could just take a shuttle to my prefered city once I get to Coronet or Theed, but thats just another hassle, and if the birthplace field of my character bio will be automatically filled in someday, I'd like to be able to choose where I start. Honestly, I'd actually prefer it if it remained the same as it has been since launch.

The Medic missions did not work for me. The droid would tell me to find and enter a med center, but would not acknowledge I completed the goal once there. This helper droid idea is extremely cool though, it will be great once all the bugs are worked out.
