SMUGGLERS...
why am I not surprised?
What exactly is SOE's current vision of Smugglers? Do you guys have absolutely NO CLUE what to do with us? We've currently got 4 new threads on the Smuggler forums to give you ideas, yet we hear no feedback as to wether we're headed in the right direction or not...
*sigh*

Please don't criticize TH for this... I would MUCH rather TH give us a ballpark date which could be sooner, than a date that the team can't meet if there are any unforseen difficulties (and there ALWAYS are).
I would much rather expect it later and be pleasantly surprised when it comes sooner, than to hit the refresh button on the forums all day looking for it.

Yeah - but when it's July, and nothing has happened, that's when it's pathetic (and typical of TH).
If it's April (or god forbid, May) and things are "Drifting" and simple one paragraph post is all it takes.
With respect to handling droids
OK hows about this for Droid Usage
Droids upto the equivalent of CL10 can be used by anybody
Higher Level Droids can be operated by :
All --> A droid Engineer (related to 1 of the 4 trees, prob. experimentation)
The rest of use have to earn them via a cerificate granted from Faction Point expenditure some of which require you to be overt.
Thus we encourage the GCW and allow anyone to use them and dont need a new class !
Neutrals will be constrained to sub CL11 and will have to live with that or dabble in DE
Be Well, Bob'the Builder
Where are the smugglers to go?
Oh...
Wait for it...
I suppose the answer we'll get will be: "Take it to your correspondent."
We HAVE taken our issues to our correspondent. He is well aware of the Smuggler ideas for revamps and new developements. So, he is either not passing them on (which I find hard to believe), or the Smugglers are being ignored...
*throws up his hands in disgust*
Please for G0ds sake add a city on Correlia that works like theed for star ports. There is little as aggravating to wait 8 minutes on Dantooine and finally catch the shuttle to correlia to only miss the next flight out as it is leaving for Talus.
Us that are only passing through shouldnt get penalized by the forced socialization system twice.
Please add one city in Corellia that we can pass though without waiting... Thanks,
Tizz
First of all, let me again say thank you to the developers at SOE and LucasArts for Galaxies.I think the game is wonderfully immersive, and has the potential to be a FANTASTIC game. I have been playing since July 4, so I have endured the birthing pangs of this Universe along with the rest of the community. I have never exploited any CHEATS or taken advantage of the game in any way,,, unless you count trying to gain Rebel Faction Points by killing Imp bases, only to have them disapear on you. I only want the game to become more immersive, complex, and FUN.
That having been said... The game is NOW where it should have been at LAUNCH. We all accepted the fact that we were playing "Beta III" when we bought the game. Fine. What the game needs now is CONTENT to the Nth degree. Grinding out missions, killing base after base to gain XP is monotonous! The LIVE EVENTS are a good start. ...although they are so rare i have never seen one. ...sound fun tho. (Is there any way to impliment a MISSION CONSTRUCTION TOOL of some sort, or a way to suggest missions?) The game also needs more PROFESSIONS and with those professions... more SKILL POINTS alloted to each character. (an extra 50-100 depending on the ammount of new professions brought in.) The game needs to INSPIRE COMMUNITY more as well. I have been IGNORED or flat out DENIED when looking to join a hearty party of adventurers.
Again... what the game needs is CONTENT. DIVERSE , MULTI TIERED, and COMPLEX missions specific to professions, races, planets, and faction affiliations, etc..
If you are a MEDIC, your medic mission terminal (or better still an NPC mission giving character) might say..."There was a speeder crash outside of town... get to thescene immediately. Ifyou dont arrive in time to stop bleeding, drag incaps from burning vehicle, heal pedestrians, etc ...NPC's "die". (neg med points for the dead?)If you are a Pistoleer, you have to go "gunning" for a NPC who you have toFIND through a series of mission waypoints/checkpoints/puzzles. ...or perhaps a "trick shot" competition. A rifleman mightaccept a contract to assasinate acorrupt politician or cheating spouse. If you are a Artisan... you must construct100 whitchets that challenge your crafting abilities and then SELL said whitchets for a reasonable profit to what u put into the project to complete the mission. If you are a Creature Handler, you mustPROTECT a warren of animals from outside attack.(never made sense that CH got XP killing critters) If you are a politician, you must get x number of people to sign your petition, move into your town inX days, or raise funds for a new public buildings, raise public funds for upkeep.Smugglers should be given missions to actually SMUGGLE illegal spice from planet A to planet B.. being stopped along the way byNPC troops. They must either "talk their way out of trouble" or fight and escape! General missions... Fishing contests for biggest and most fish with a minimumof 2 for the mission, race tracks(for both mounts and vehicles)withraces all day and off track betting, NPC judged dancing/music/competitions,etc ad naseum.
The LIVE EVENTS are a good beginning. I think live events and NPC RUN EVENTS are good ideas. I think they should be happening on a MUCH LARGER SCALE. If these were things that happened much more frequently... it would FEEL like the "Emperor was cracking down on a planet", or the "Rebellion is getting out of hand" in a System!!! They should be diverse of content, and include a LOT of NPC/PC initiated dialogue (complex dialogue trees to go through that you get ONE SHOT at "solving"), NPC/NPC interaction w/ eachother, and atmosphere. Take a page from "the Ruins of Dantooine" and offer NPC run "cockfights" that animals could be entered in and bet upon! NPC Jawas who you can buy from and sell to!! NPC double agents you can "talk" information out of. etc.
If there were a MISSION CONSTRUCTION TOOL of some sort, or a MISSION SUBMISSION LINE, the community could take a hand in the storytelling process. I am SURE there are lots of frustrated "dungeon masters" out there itching to spin a yarn.
Ifmissions had SPECIFIC CLASS REQUIREMENTS, you would inspire COMMUNITY. For example: You MUST have 1 Pistoleer (any lvl), 1 Master Creature Handler, 1 Master Medic. Those missions should reflect the party's requirements. It could be multi tiered. The party must travel to waypoint A andRESCUE some settlers andHEAL them. Once completed... the settlers tell you they needESCORTED and protected (and the will need to be) as they travel to their distant settlement destination, ... when you reach waypoint B, one of the settlers wants a "petting zoo" for the children so the CH has to tame X of whatever critter. etc. Whatever. But there should be a lot of diverse STORYLINES to follow!!!
MULTI-TIERED missions could also be solo or factional as well, with a "riddle" twist. Yes, you go to REB bas A and kill it, but one of the NPC's has LOOT that leads you to WAYPOINT/Checkpoint B where the 2nd location/base hase a document you have to decode... or has a riddle... that leads you to the final waypoint. Again, content, content, CONTENT.
ALCOHOL should have an effect on you as well. The effect should be random and vary from wild HAM bosts to making "enemies friends", and inadvertently declaring your OVERT status. (ala "blabbing while drunk") Possible OD's if combining too much alcohol and spice combined, etc.
MUSIC should be more pervasive as well. There is no shortage of music for the Star Wars galaxy composed by John Williams. Why isnt it being used? Every different vehicle, planetary landmark, different landscape, event, and whatnot should have their OWN musical track or tracks.
MUSICIANS should be able to play SINGLE NOTES on their instruments (starting with whole notes) so they could compose their OWN music! As the musician progresses, they unlock half and quarter notes etc. This would relieve the monotony of the tracks musicians play, AND actually TEACH something about music.
Vehicles should be UPGRADEABLE with different "engines", decay rates, and handling.
P.A. Halls and Cities needsome sort of BONUSES and DEFICITS for belonging to them... other than to just exist! REASONS for existing. ...also players who are OVERT and kill X number of opposing faction should have a BOUNTY placed on them by their enemies! (Bounty expires after time)
I also think Galaxies needs more PROFESSIONS!! I would like to see a GAMBLER profession. (with the ability to open up hotel/casinos, and more "games within the game" like Jubilee! Let's see Sabbac, and the card game in K.O.T.O.R... Pazzac, HOLO CHESS, dice games, drinking games, and OTHER GAMBLING games.(pod racing screens that "show u the race" that u can bet on)
I think BADGES should be given for outstanding accomplishments in each profession. A RIFLEMAN must "snipe" a heavily guardedNPC politician. A gambler who walks away from a Jubilee table up 200% of what he bet gets a minor gambler badge for that casino... and if youre up 1000% a master gambler badge for that casino. etc. (Last note on gambler... master gambler should be able to open hotel/casino/bar.)
OTHER PROFESSIONS might be SPY (emphasis stealth?), DOUBLE AGENT (#caps on both sides), SQUIRE (a Jedi's personal ally?), PIRATE, TAXIDERMY, SCULPTOR, ASSASIN, INFORMANT (emphasis info gathering-factional), etc ad naseum squared. I am sure the rest of the community has their ideas on other possible professions they would like to try.
The JEDI in the game upset me as well... The path should be a more MYSTERIOUS JOURNEY than "MASTER X, Y, and Z... and you open a FS slot" !!I also think the idea of a seperate FS char is a BAD ONE!! If you OPEN the FS slot yu should be alloted X number of JEI SPECIFIC SP's to fill in that tree on the SAME CHARACTER!! Ifyou are killed while "playing the JEDi side of your char" 3 times... you permadeath... and lose all abilities, but retain 75% wealth and items... or something. (JEDI 3 hr TF if using Jedi abilities?) ....and now i hear you are kiling Jedi chars in 3 weeks!!!?? is THIS true? That would SUCK!
Again, I would like to thank SOE and LucasArts for the game... and especially for this new line of communication. (Let us hope we do not go unheard.)
There is a post i think every dev should read. It is VERY in depth. It is titled :
State of the Galaxy: Wishlist for '04
...everyone should read it. It is in the now defunct Galaxied Discussion room... page NINE, posted by Mills007. (cant post link) PLEASE please please... READ THAT POST!!!!!!
Zebadee Stokes (Intrepid) ...the first of MANY posts here.
Maybe the /heal and /healwound command should not work on yourself, only the /tend and /tendwound commands which are not as efficient and cause mind wounds. Doc's and CM's would get better /tend abilities in higher skill boxes, (even the master box) and in tress unrelated to buffing. This way limiting the usefulness of dabbling while trying to hurt master doc's and CM's as little as possible.
