One way to keep Jedi from running amok is to put more of their natural 'predators' into the game, say Darth Vader and Boba Fett. (Take out their NPC quests of course) In the same way as you can get bounty-hunter visibility, you could get 'Emperor' visibilty and then the really big boys get sent against you... (maybe each 'person' PC or NPC you kill raises Emperor visibility.)

I see no problem in making these type of NPC's un-killable, but possible to drive off. If they were made uniquely instanced to hunt down one jedi until that jedi had died some integrity and continuity would be maintained. Jedi should be limited in number and they should act as discreetly as possible, if they aren't and don't, they should be culled...

I'm really looking forward to the revamp of Jedi, making it quest based and giving your existing character force sensitive powers is exactly the way I hoped it would work when I bought the game!

I'm new on SWG. I haven't played this game from the early stage of the beta (I was one of the "happy" beta testers... and I really enjoy the game actually). I saw some example of GCW on Kauri but I doesn't saw any of the "Jedi" you speak about... The first time I saw one was yesterday on test server ! Now... I think the change they made are great, because, with publish 10, you'll have the possibility to be "force ehanced" without being a Jedi ! This is a great idea, more "realisic" or at list in the right line of the books and film.

If they're killed on sight by the Empire, it still have some people "touched" by the force. This is not because there's only one known as Luke Skywalker that it's impossible there's no other. So, now, I would like to see the GCW in not a "replay" of the film but in an evolution ! And if it's evolution is a world with more "force", it's good as well ! Why don't make again a Jedi order and a Sith order too ! This is a great idea and we all a day (I think so) enjoyed the idea to be one.

It have to be a HARD way, but not an IMPOSSIBLE. And as I saw, it's possible to kill a Jedi without being one and I think this not a "God mode". I really hope they don't lower too much the power because Jedi's have to be powerfull if they're high ranked. Now, if you think this is horrible for simple players, I just want to say that if they put them in two faction, Light for Rebels and Dark for Empire, it's really nice for both camps !

Imagine a Jedi specialized in healing, it could help a bit in a battle, but you cand find one on BOTH side, not only on light but on dark too ! Do you think it's an error ? I don't think so. They're was some Jedi in the current story year, they'll be more in the next and come "overt" ! This is great ! This will ehance gameplay (I'm not sure actually I want to be a Jedi a day in the future but...)

All I can say is I LIKE the job done by SOE and I would like that player who play on live server and never go on these boards (and there's number of), who really enjoy this game, come to say that SOE do a great job. I'm bored to see only harsh crictize of the job they do.

P.S. Sorry for my bad english, as long it's not my mother language.

Reading these posts just make me laugh. I remember way back Publish 5 or whatever when no Jedi ingame on live server were known of, and EVERYONE (my self included) whined about how no body could unlock their Force sensetive slot, and how jedi might not even be completed yet, oh I remember the flames the rants.... now jedi are ingame a whole publish to them and we all whine and flame and rant; see how hypocritacal we are? Anyways, to those afraid that every jedi will be running around owning in pvp, dont worry, its happened before (CH, CM, Commando ect) and sooner or later Jedi will get the nerf bat like everything else overpowered does... and then we will all whine about the nerf, and life will go on in the galaxy.

They really shouldn't push this patch to the 22nd, too many bugs, easy to fix and not so. Once this hits live you can't just take down the live servers every 2 hours to fix the jedi bugs, at least push this publish back a week, there is no way in hell you can fix all the bugs by the 22nd.

I hate to say it, but I doubt many people will leave. So don't say we will. I don't think in all the history of MMOs there has been a publish or patch that caused a massive enough exidus or players to makes Devs worry about it...

I'm sure it will all work out in the end. The Devs want to make a fun game that people want to play. Most of us joined because this is Star Wars. Most of us, at one time or anouther, would like to be a jedi, or have fun with one. Thats what this publish, and the next one, are aimed at. Opening the door so that people can enjoy that dream.

The combat rebalance is going to be aimed at the rest of the game. Allowing people to be what they want to be and be useful, unique, and interesting. So someone can be a BH, go out with a group of buddies, and have fun hunting in the wilds. So that people will actually want to be a pikeman or carbineer because they will help you kill a rancor. This also will hopefully create a more Star Wars feel for the game, as that is what the game is suposed to be.

Of course last on the list was the GCW... Once again, aimed at not only opening content to us all, no matter what proffesions we have chosen, but also allowing us to feel more like we are part of the Star Wars universe.

And then JLS, because what would Star Wars be without starships?

The next few publishes will either be great content or something a majority of players don't want. Once JTL comes out, that is pretty much it for major revamps. Everything should be pretty much complete and only new dugeons or worlds should be added at that point.

The one biggest thing SWG has going for it, is no new major MMOG has come out to contend with it. There have been a few like City of Heroes, but they just don't have the draw something like EQ2 or WOW will have. This game does have a huge amount of potential and the next few publishes will either use that potential or barely scratch the surface and more revamps will be in the future.

JTL right now is enough to get me to continue playing until it comes out. I do know that I would have switched to WOW for 3-5 months though if it would have been out already. I know a majority of people don't think that same way, but I doubt I'm the only one.

I have seen somthing simular happen and no there was no mass exodus, players started to post on the forums how they hated the new changes and forced a roll back in the game.

this is more often the means of fixing bad design choices and people use it.

Or opening the pandoras box where only Jedi can PVP.

I have already seen the effect of Jedi in the game to PVP, I forsee many people gaining thier jedi characaters and basicly running amock on the eneamy killing everthing non jedi in thier path.

The Combat part of the game must be balanced, having one type of character that is awsome in PVP and PVE totaly unbalances the game in the end as everyone will want that class,.

Now they willjust do jedi quest till they can gain there new skills and then blast off into PVP.

Base takedowns will be next to impossible as the defending jedi exterminate the non jedi players needed to destory the base.

This will put a end to the civil war over all as all sided basicly become nutered by the shear number of jedi ingame.

I really hope the DEVS have considered the impact this will have on the game and forsee many Jedi nurfs in the coming months.

I will simply stay and wait for JTL to come out, as that is a 1st person then skills will be required to play and some form of tactics required and everyone will have a chance not just those who gain a ubber fighting class or ships.

and we should justcall this game jedi wars instead

if the timeline were twenty years before or after what it is now, i wouldn't mind having so many jedi, but it's at a time where jedi are all but extinct
i'm all for having jedi, but the timeline should fit continuity

Yeah, might be good and bad... but I see more of a devastation from it, and going to completely mess things up.

If they are in a haste doing everything as fast as possible, it's just going to be one big mess.

Tip for anyone who thinks Jedi in the GCW is going to change anything.

Don't go overt, pvp has sucked for months now, the only difference now will be that it sucks even more.

I am glad that even though they are patching out data this week it doesn't prevent them from adding fixes.
