Thread: New Team Comments Art Director Jake Rodgers
since maybe this thread has the art team's ear, i would like to take this opportunity to request again that an ART forum be put up here so we can all have a looksee and a say on what art goes into this game. it is something that is really important to me as well as many others.
and mr rodgers, while i love this game's graphics, PLEASE start incorporating art directly from the movies (particularly those that cover the era in which SWG is set) into the game. this means things like holsters (almost everyone in the movies has one, from stormtroopers to han solo) the funny helmets worn by the alderaan corvette crew, rebel uniforms like those seen on hoth and endor, well, you get the idea. the art design from the classic trilogy is simply brilliant, and it is a terrible waste to leave it out of the game in favor of designing new looks that don't necessarily fit into the star wars universe. the corellian corvette dungeon (the art beign takendirectly from episode IV)was, in my opinion, a HUGE step in the direction of "star warsiness" and i hope you all continue down that path in the future. ![]()

The only good news I've heard is more clothes and hairstyles. Give us some flirty styles. More short hair for guys! You've got more ugly long hair then short. Short is better on males! Long is better on female. =p
You have any idea just how many do'shuman males have? If you don't think there's enough short male do's, I suggest you see an ID again. Isn't our correspondant on starsider? Talk to her.
Give us more hair colors to choose from too. I wanted to make my hair red and be like Alias when I wasa Commando.
Okay... okay. Amen to that.
And then more furniture is good news but bad. More static furniture that is in no way customizable and will only take up space?
See... I've never decorated my home because I can't. The item limit makes it impossible. For some people to even finish a single room. If I can't decorate the whole home or at least the most used part... I'm not doing it. Unlike the "developers" I prefer to not cut cornors. I didn't do it on UO and won't here either. Also, because of lots, and the item limit, I need to use those 150/250 room for resources and components. On UO I was able to decorate my home from top to bottom and have a ton of space left over for storage. Heck! I was even able to decorate the walls and tear them down and create a home all my own.
Go loot some items. Get creative. Do something. If your having problems decorating one lousy room, you need to step back and consider what your doing wrong. I have a well decorated Large Tatooine, including a nice livingroom with a beutiful large Holovision, and a great couch and table set, and an awesome kitchen with fish on the wall and an old-fasioned stove top cooker. Unless you've got some over-the-top decorations, like an imperial symbol inlaid into your table-top, then there is no reason any room should go higher than 40-50 items at a time. Any more items and it begins to look cluttered and gawdy.

Okay... There are how many freaking different styles of BALDNESS... Not short! There is only about 4 hair do's that I find nice and only about 6 that are even seen. Out of 40.. /sigh... A shame

Um... The main point I'm trying to get across is that there isn't enough room. By the time decorate I am out of room for storage. With the current conditions I do not understand why anyone would want to waste the time and energy to decorate their home that can't be at all expressive to their own personal tastes. It just isn't worth the hassle. With the up/down command (After asking for it since launch) is an improvement. But if your home is on Dantooine you've still got the crazy lag. I remember I would do a /movefurniture back 1... 2 minutes later... 1 more minute... It moves. I don't have time to play that game.
And again... The problem is lack of furniture but even more so the item limit. It doesn't make sense. Ipersonally find the medium Tatooine/Naboo and large Tatooine home to be the nicest ingame. But due to the item cap I will not ever place one.The large takes up too many lots. The medium is spreading furniture too far out with no room for storage, the large is impossible to fully make use of. Why does the medium home cost more maintenance if it gives no extra benefits from the small? Why does the large home which takes up an additional 4 lots only give 100 more storage? Your better off buying 3 smalls/mediums. It just makes no sense. And I'm still trying to figure out why we can't use our balconys.
I haven't read all the posts so sorry if this was asked already. . . but you said pics of starships soon. . . how soon is soon?
you (the devs in general) have been saying we'd get SE info "soon" for quite some time now. . . and I'm sure you can understand why I'm ancious to get info.... so is therean ETA on when we might be seeing some of these screenshots or get a list of all the SEs features?
THANKS!
I just read that letter on the SWG website and was confused whether I should laugh or cry. I want to laugh because its extremely funny how he mentioned how we seen all the "many, many changes." What changes? Creating a completely unbalanced playing field by nerfing anything and everything to the point whereits unplayable? Some change...
And then he goes on to talk about how players can build their own home. I almost spit Sunkist all over my computer laughing so hard. Yeah... Our home that is just like everyone elses since we can't decorate the apperance. Our home that we can't express ourselves in due to a limited amount of furniture that isn't customizable - not even the color! Our home that can hold 150 items or for an additional 4-7 lot's, plus higher maintenance, can hold 100 more items. Try decorating more then the main room in a large home with a 250 item cap.
"Choose from an array professians..." ... Right.... Do I even need to comment on that one? The unbalance making pvp a joke and pve more difficult or too easy for some. Completely broken professians and 1/4 working professians. Then the totally useless professians. Count 'em up we got about 5 or 6 professains to choose from.
And lol... Mayor of your own city? Player citys are pathetic. It's a great idea and could've been fun but instead was just another slapstick production on the "developers" part.
