Thread: Weekly Roundtable Discussion (Week Ending 2-16-04)
- I unlocked my FSCS last week. After the expense of mastering 25 profs, I have few credits left. I 'm a member of a tiny PA who cannot muster a competitive Krayt-stealing group. I can't afford pearls or the 500k - 1million being asked for crystals now. I burned thru the two crystals I have worked for (non-AFK) in a matter of days. With no way to gather crystals, my jedi character went on the shelf after only a week. WHY WERE CRYSTAL DROPS REMOVED WITHOUTSOME FORM OFREPLACEMENT BEING IMPLEMENTED AT THE SAME TIME ?????????
- I returned to my main to attempt to rebuild his combat skills (ALL of which were lost in the final professions of grinding to FSCS) only to find bleeds worthless now. I'm rather disappointed with the changes to bleeds as they were an important asset for gaining xp in many combat professions. Why is it PvP changes always trickle down and directly impact PvE play?
- Crystal drops have been removed, thus putting many jedi on hold without weapons.
- There are no crystals dropping.
- Something needs to be done to address the lack of crystals.
- It may interest the devs to note that CRYSTALS ARE NOT DROPPING ANYMORE and you have crippled yourstar profession.
How about for the next crackdown you guys put the crack down first?
Let's see a crystal hotfix until you guys sort out a proper method for jedi to make their only weapon.

Oh, presents! That's a different story. I suggest they give out imperial banners. That would be a good recruiting tool.
If rebel is what you want to be then live with what it means. If your neutral but want to break some rules even if they are not the kind of rules you would make live with it. No matter if you chouse to be a crafter or a fighter then rember that the empire runs the galaxies and they make the rules. Even Imp’s get toasted. The rebels are to do things in the dark and try to get the empire by doing terrors acts not by standing toe to toe with the imperil army. Don’t pick on the DEV’s for following the store line this time.
As has been said before, the issue isn't with an increased imperial presence, but with turning coverts overt. That has serious consequences for gameplay; as I've said before, carefully consider before using the argument that "you joined up for a war by joining a faction, you agreed to pvp at any time"--it can just as easily **edit** the Imperial rear in the future.
In any event, the rebel penalty doesn't even make sense. Why should a contraband scanning team be able to determine whether a target is a rebel? If the scanning team could also determine this, why shouldn't they also discover rebels without contraband? Some have argued that the team does a background check on those found with contraband. While that makes sense IRL, most Imperial players also argue against comparing the Empire, which is corrupt and evil, with the US police/army. I'd agree, and add--the Empire doesn't care about personal privacy. They're looking to stamp out the rebellion, and if all they had to do was perform background checks to determine whether a person was a rebel, they'd do the checks on everyone regardless as to whether the person was found with contraband. They don't care about a person's rights, and wouldn't provide such an easy out to rebels.
The present penalty is unfair and doesn't make sense; a covert rebel with contraband should be treated like a neutral, and just get a fine. To say that coverts can be "found out" opens a hole can of worms (e.g., why shouldn't an overt of either faction that has previously seen the covert in action not "remember" said fact and be able to attack him from then on?) that you should reconsider supporting.
Under no circumstances should a covert of any faction ever be turned overt.

1.TEF is staying on after a clone. Twice I was killed by a stormtrooper npc in korvella before I could get to the insurance terminal. The second time you die the TEF disapears but by this time I've lost the Insurance and Items have degraded at the uninsured rate.
Really? I haven't had that happen to me (i.e., TEF sticking through cloning)... but as long as you were already insured, being db'd by an Imp, even an NPC one, should no longer remove the insurance... Are you sure you had insurance in the first place? I haven't had to reinsure since the patch, and have been killed by both imperial players and npcs.
2. Bleeds.. if you wanted to stop people kiteing huge raid type mobs. make them immune to bleeds.
Don't exactly agree... Bleeds should definitely be un-nerfed, but making those mobs immune to bleeds wouldn't be any better of a fix. Bleeds are the major effect of some professions.
Instead, I'd suggest the devs find a way of removing all of a player's existing bleeds if he should mount. I expect this might be hard to implement and doesn't make sense IRL, but it is the ideal fix for gameplay.

Is that worms with holes or is the hole in the can?
You disagree with someone, fine. You need to debate their points, fine. Just leave sarcastic comments about their spelling mistakes out of it, especially if you are going to make some of your own.

Hehe, it was nothing more than a little good natured humor (though I should've added a
That said, I didn't just post to "leave sarcastic comments"; I went on to provide a clear and concise rebuttal to his argument--which is more than you just did with respect to mine.

My thoughts on the crack down...
Rebels being at a disadvantage as far as NPC turing coverts overt... oh quite crying... Plz. I'm a covert rebel... and i understood that I may get revealed and attack at some points in the game... I found that kind of appeling. Rebels may indeed be being treated unfairly, but, by god, we'er rebels under a dictators rule... we'er SUPPOSTED to be treated unfairly... I can only laugh when i read the whole, "it's unfair to the rebels" load... Like the Empirere or Vader care or something...
"but, but but, it's a game and we pay for it and we shouldn't be treated this way... we should all be treated fairly and equally..."
another coment i love to see. what world do you people live on? nothing in life is totally fair and balanced. some people get shafted in life, and you got to deal with it. Be thankful it's happening to you in a GAME and not in real life, i'd hate to see how you handle REAL discremanation.
and besides, if you want NO fear of PvP, go netural. I honestly can't see any perks to being covert that a netural doesn't have... Nothing worthwhile anyway.
bottom line. You want to be a rebel? There's risk involved. Even covert rebels, that is SOME risk involved. IT'S ALWAYS been that way, since day one. DAY ONE. The TEF has ALWAYS been part of the game, only now, it might happen to rebels alittle more often. but hey, we'er rebels, lifes hard. Get over it.
as for the Imps... there IS such a thing as a covert faction dector. I've been naild by a few in IMP towns, and seen a few rebel ones in Rebel towns. The Imps can get these too, only difference is, WE got to do it to them. We don't have NPC's running aroud scanning people, and we NEVER SHOULD... Rebels are supposted to, for the most part, oppreate in secreat and relie on supprise.
anyway, that how i feel. If you don't agree, that fine. It's your option and right.
Now, finely, I'd just like to add, it looks like i was right about TH and his Crew. Total Silience on this thread. How you guys like our new and improved lines of comunation?

No one here is demanding for the removal ot TEFS. Yes they have been here since day one.
What people are complaining about is before, we had pretty much complete comtrol on when and where we get a TEF and be subject to PvP.
This Crackdown, with turning players OVERT randomly in the wilds, changes thingsCOMPLETELY.
TEFS are something we we have been dealing with, and are more than happy to continue deal with in the future.
Being turned OVERT without any control is something we CANNOT deal with, and has to go.

The TEF do to scans has been in all the notes before the publish. It would figure that a rebel (notice I use singular) would be crying about it. Though I have come across rebels that fight with honor, it would figure that there would be some that would cry about the unfairness of our emperor. If you are so nervous about being converted to overt, go neutral. Stop your useless struggle against the empire. The emperor will forgive you for your transgressions, but he never forgets.
Sorry, but turning Neutral is not, I repeat to get through your thick skulls, NOT an option.
That would shut me out of the main story line and far too much content to be a valid option.
And as I have stated befor, I can live with TEFs.
Its being turned to OVERT is NOT acceptable.
