Thread: Weekly Rountdable Discussion (Week Ending 2-1-04)
Thunderheart wrote:Well the lamps themselves is kind of tricky. A "glow" spot has to be added and an ambient light source and it takes a lot of involvement. What I were able to do was focus on "ambient lighting" in general. What Im hoping will happen is we'll get a switch on our main housing control panel and it will have "bright, medium and dim" or something similar and the lighting levels through out the house will be effected.
I discovered shortly after (same day?) the City/Mount publish that streetlamps (designed for outdoor use) could be placed and used indoors. One catch: they only illuminate at night (in-game night). Any chance they can operate 24/7 when placed indoors? I would imagine this would be easier for the interim.

If you computer crashes and you have to install SWG software on another computer do you lose your char files with all their inventory and skills? Are you char files stored on the SOE servers and backed up to your char folders on your hard disk every time you log into the game, or do you lose your char files if they are lost from your computer hard drive. I think this is a very valid question that hasn't been answered yet? This happened to me as the game just locked up and I got a windows system registry that won't alllow my computer to boot up. I may be foreced to reinstall the SWG software on another computer. I hope that I haven't lost my original char's and their abilities which have taken months of game play to achieve.
Can you address this question so we will all know that is the outcome of your char's when this happens to someone.
Thanks
I hope not all dungeons are going to be like the warrens while it was different, 1 time is all we needed for it, it holds no replay value unless your a farming type. I would rather for PvE content more dynamic stuff and things like the stronghold idea brought back. In no way I want SWG to become a static playground and its already heading there with camp spots.
I love the warrens and hope we get many more harder theme dungeons like it. I think by far that is the coolest place in this game that i've seen so far. Too bad a lot of people just ran through it with at-st's so they could get their badge and be cool.........What kind of dungeons do you have planned for the future is my question......thanks,

You told us that this was the one way that we could become Jedi (not you Thunderheart but you the Devs, most specifically Holocron in his messages about two months ago). We took you at your word and tore apart our characters and grinded xp even though it is the last thing we would ever want to do in a game. We did it because we had to to get to all the jedi-only content that was announced about the same time that Holocron confirmed that the system was purely based on profession Mastery. You cannot now tell those same people that took you at your word that you are changing everything and their work is for not. Giving people who have done holocron professions some kind of headstart based upon the number of holocrons used or holocron professions mastered will not cut it. You must let the system you created and implemented play itself out. You must give those that have worked, and I do mean worked, so hard have the fruits of their labors that you promised them. If you ever want any player to believe what you say, it is time to fish or cut bait.
Whatever happened with the posts on the Species issues?
I saw a lot of good comments but, since then nothing has ever been mentioned, WHY?
TH, here's a list and please give it some thought.
1. The sit and "glide" technique. I have seen this since beta test and I still SEE IT. Can't you fixt it?
2. The classic sandpeople in the Fort Tusken walls. Can't hit em. Can't touch em. Can't you fix it?
3. Capes. Are they that rare?Does Boba have the only one? I tried to ask him about it in Jabba's palace (Which was the only reason why I did the "ThemePark" anyways) and he had nothing to say about the matter. I warned him about staying away from the Sarlaac in the future buthe just shrugged me off. :\
4. Any chance of getting other types of armor/clothes? I mean Jedi's wear composite for god's sake. Where's the Trandoshan armor? Let's see, you make composite the toughest armor there is so what do you get? An entire populace wearing it. Everyone wears composite and it is all you can see.
5. GMs. EverQuest (gasp, I said the word) had these. They were good for a couple things and one of them was stopping people from making DUMB NAMES. Man, what a better way to kill continuity than seeing kids with retarded names. Maybe give us a roleplay server for those of us whom enjoy that sort of thing. But, alas, we are dealing with kids and they will just probably choose the roleplay server and choose retarded names like they did in EQ (dang, I said it again).
6. Can I be a GM?
7. Can I be a GM with a cape?
8. Lamps on floors. Yeah because we can't move them up and I am too poor for a large house with stairs.
9. Jedi. Why did you bother? Don't worry though, once WoW comes out all the Jedi kiddies will run over to that and you'll have more time to hammer out the bugs of that profession. ![]()
That's all for now. Pay no mind the sarcasism cause I'm just too tired right now. But if you feel like answering any of these please feel free.
