Player cities have a flaw......and a big one at that.

Think tourism. Why should myself and 50 other people live in a city and pay taxes to have our city when everyone else can come in at their convenience to run missions there?

I suggest giving mayors the option to tax mission terminals up to 5%....meaning it reduces 1-5% from the mission reward and places that in the city treasury instead. Either that or letting mayors place the terminals in city hall, where only citizens can enter and get the benefit of having our own terminals.

5% isn't a lot considering it's like taxing a luxury......very popular cities could have huge incomes like this. It's also a fairly decent money sink because only 50k per day can be pulled out of the treasury. Perhaps give cities more features at higher costs per week.

Also, allow bases to be considered "city property" or be ran by guilds. Many more people would like to have bases but that is very hard for crafters who already have their 10 lots dedicated to their professions. I suggest having bases deduct 25k per week from the city treasury for each base in the city. Make them take 0 lots, but limit each player to only having 1 base.

Base raiding is fun, and there would be lots of bases to raid if people didn't have to spend so many precious lots on them.

Well i've posted this in a few places now and was referred to here as being the best place to post ideas so here goes:

This is an idea i've tossed around to several of my guild mates for a very long time. I've seen many posts where the dev's are looking to lighten the load for items on the main database servers. Hence the limits on houses, inventory, etc.

My idea is this:

Add another building, only avaliable to player cities. Call it a warehouse, cold storage, or whatever you want to call it. The sole purpose of this place is to store all your items you don't want floating around in your house / bank / inventory.

Now the big difference between this place and your regular storage is huge. You could give people unlimited space to store things, or at least a very large amount of space. You could charge them a maintenance fee based on how many items they have stored etc. The most important thing about this alternate storage is that everything in there isn't readily avaliable. Lets say i have a 100k stack of resources in cold storage that i want to pull out. Well i go to the proper building and put in a request for that item to be retrieved. It takes time to find things in such a large place so i have to wait, say 5mins, for it to be avaliable to me. Then i receive a email message that its ready, and i go pick it up.

The beauty of this whole idea is that the dev's can create a single database (or database cluster) solely for item storage. People like me who have thousands of resources in storage houses everywhere would suddenly have one place to put it all. The need to lot swap between servers would diminish, and all those items could be removed for the core databases and put elsewhere. Faster core database, and less lag. Happier players.

There's several options to this, but i think it would really be worth a look into.

And I thought of this right after posting that last message.

Devs, please add a 'Seek Team' function ala City of Heroes. Nobody uses the Community window, and the only alternative is stand outside of Coronet screaming 'LFG!!' for hours. It's embarassing to this game for me to be able to do in 5 minutes what it would take me an hour to do here.

I don't know if anyone has every suggested this or not but I think it would be a great idea.

Why not design a new building for storage. It can take up 2 lots and hold like 500+ items. I don't know if everyone could use this but I know I could. I make lots of spice when I run a batch and don't always put it all on my vendor. I also buy lots of food at once for a lower price and then it ends up taking up too much room in my house and inventory. I know I could probably drop a bunch of houses and do the same thing but why not design a building specific for it. People are already doing this with factorys and such. To me this is kind of like the merchant tents. It could be specifically for storage and nothing else. Always private and not a vendor house or anything like that. It could also run at a higher maitence (sorry bad at spelling) rate this would help bring money out of the economy. Also as your years playing goes up the rate could go down. This would be another reward incorpirated into it.

Another idea that would work is use one of the factory templates and just make it into a storage shed craftable by Archetects (sorry bad at spelling). This way you could not enter or exit it. It would all be menu driven. Kinda like a bank. Heck it could even be a veteran reward. Something to show that you have been playing for a while and deserve a nice treat like that.

If this were to be used I would make it so that it has to be within so many feet of your designated residence or in a player town. That way the land would not be littered with tons of little storage sheds. Another restriction that would be nice it on one per character. This would help people to keep from hording tons of stuff but give people like me who could use the extra space another option to keep my stuff organized.

Well I will organizes my thoughts here for anyone just wanting the short version

New Building

Storage Shed

  • 2 lots to place

  • Stores 500+ items

  • Could charge a higher rate for mait.so more money leaves the economy

  • Must be in a player city or within X number offeet of yourdeclared residence

  • Only one per person per server

  • Could be craftable or given as a Veteran reward

Anyone that has any more input feel free to copy and add on to my ideas. Just try to keep the organized like I have. I think it would be much easier for people to read the quick version and get the idea. It also makes it much easier if the developers decide to submit the short version to game designers. I know I'm not the only one who would like to see this so if you think it is a good idea feel free to spread the word and get more support for a building like this.

Balconies.

This is a MUST to be honest.

To make balconies part of the inside of the house.

Why?

A. You can then place like chairs and tables there

B. The most important reason! Lets say you have a balcony. Now you have someone that comes into your house. Your blabing with him etc.

You let him go up to your balcony and then BAN him from your house. This person is now STUCK here. Because he cant get off the balcony. Nor can he go back in the house unless you unbann him or someone kills him....

Make roundtrips cheaper than purchasing two one-way tickets. That would encourage players to use that feature.

GOOD IDEA....

like a warehouse.. or even better yet... why not rent space in the NPC towns... like those ugly U-store-it places.

I was wondering has anyone hadevergiven thought to Player City Chatrooms. It would be nice if there was a chat system so that whatever city you had your house (with declared residense) in you would join a chatroom with all the other players of that city. That way Mulit-Guild Citys would be able to talk to each other without having to create a chatroom every day.

The mayor could be in charge of the room and kick or add players as the city demend fit.

Anyways just a thought.

Idea to boost PvP!

Allow a player to go to war with another. PvP duel crossed with a guild war... both players would consent towar and thenwould always be allowed to attack each other. If they ever grew tired of itone of themcouldjust end the war (there would have to be some sort of delay, 30mins?) Kind of like having an arch nemisis in the galaxy. I know guild wars are in place but the problemis somemembers might not want to(eg crafters or people grinding profs) Might be quite fun for non guildpeople too... 2 friends could have a friendly war etc etc.

Please please allow more objects in buildings!

At the moment its impossible to fully decorate a building so that theres enough objects to make it look 'real'.The only way round it is to have empty rooms and concentrate the decorations in the main ones...but this always makes the buildings look fake and hampers the suspension of disbelief. It would also help people who use their houses as extra inventories, if they could just have an extra 50 items (a backpacks worth) it might save them from buying a second home and using up valuable lots and land.

Thanks, love the game!

Sorry keep thinking of more as I read thru everyone elses!

- Relax the building restrictions on Rori! I can build a camp over a puddle so why not a building?

- Stop dead logs from blocking combat and to a lesser extent running past. At the moment you can 'hide' during PvP by running behind a small log.

-Cantinas are a must have for player cities as they look cool, but for 5 lots they are a bit of a drain on the poor player holding them. Either make them generate an income somehow (sorry haven't figured out how yet!) or decrease the lots.

PreviousIdeas I whole-heartedly agree with...

- Love all the new structures suggested for Player Cities! Gimme gimme!

- Definitely make POIs and dungeons harder on 'out of the way' planets like Rori. Our poor little city needs some more traffic

- Allow a city to earn an income from mission terminals and trainers.

I like Ronin's idea there for ID. I don't really know much about it, or how it works, but he sure seems to know what it's all about. Making image design kinda piece meal allows for more variations and more unique designs.

I had a thought today about pictures. I was thinking about it and, well not knowing how they are made, I thought it would be really great if who ever it is that can make pictures, could use screen shots to make unique pictures. Since they are already saved in the SWG folder, all there would have to be is an extraction from the folder onto the server. I'm also assuming you guys have firewalls and such that protect your servers from viruses and such. Anyway, the person would go out and take screen shots. Then during the picture's crafting process, the screenshot is uploaded onto the face of the picture.

I know that these are only aesthetics but it would give a whole new dimention to who ever it is that crafts pictures.
