very cool. i like the idea...though will this place be instanced?

so that we may get that feeling we are the only one who is doing this quest so that the few jedi who want to actually feel like a true jedi training alone would have that star warsy feel and can enjoy the village by them self as they level up...cause having hundreds of e-bay jedi running around the place, waving their light sabers yelling look at me, watch what i can do! and BH's stalking the place.. it really wont feel very star warsy....

and the village will not be cool to try the new quest.

Thunderheart, does this mean it is open to the Rebels or neutral players only in this idea?

Oh I think this sounds great as well ..just wish storylines like these will be created for other proffessions that need them badly...like the socialists in the game,Entertainer folks,Tailors Etc.

I really feel for those people they really got the wrong end of the stick from Hologrinders.

Creating a way for players to experience a mysterious but not impossibly hidden path from being “normal”

to Force Sensitivity is a difficult task. Ultimately, it must be a story driven path that doesn’t go counter to the Star Wars experience, while also bending continuity in the game so that the MMO game experience can deliver a play experience that is satisfying and fun for those that do want to seek out Force Sensitivity.

About this... i think you need to balance the "difficulty level" of the task. Plz consider than there are powergamers and casualgamers. Powergamers can leave all about game and look for the path, it would take like 3 months (as i read somewhere). But if casual players can not do it in 1 year... well, i do not need to tell ya that a lot of ppl would resign to this option an even to the game. Yes, it is a jedi population control, but it would become little bory to try it and try it and try it 2 hours daily and no results. Is it possible for tha AI of the game to determinate who is a powergamer and who not? maybe appling this system could give them a good oportunity to make it.

In the other hand, lets think on this: I sent Bert to look for the FSS, unlock it, gain the ability to create the new char, and i want to do the second char my jedi. Then, my 2nd char would go to unlock the FSS again but... if the 2nd char is a pretty "newbie", it would mean that i need to reach "TKM" (in example), to continue to search the FSS slot? It would take time, much time... imagine if i am a casual player...

Without revealing the exact path to Force sensitivity, let it be said that it is not hidden in the way that the Holocron/Professions system was hidden. The path to Force Sensitivity has underlying mechanics, but essentially it is to just play the game. It is definitely achievable, but mysterious and unknown. We don’t want people to grind anymore, so ticking off master professions will cease to be part of the equation. We may or may not reveal more as time goes on. It depends on how the flow of players through the system goes. (If too many players are pushed through the system, we may have to make additional changes based on technological needs, but if we do that, we will let you know in advance). It may not be long before you are visited by a mysterious stranger.Once players are on the right path they will be welcomed to the village with open arms, and will be given the training they need to understand how their Force Sensitivity works.

As i explained above, all depens in the life style of the player, a casual player could feel dishearting working 2 or 3 hours daily to work on it and expect the visit of this stranger than he could not come in a long time.

This place is the Village of Aurilia. It is a place where a group of Force Sensitive characters have gone to have some privacy and solitude in their lives. With the Empire slaying all the Jedi it can find, Bounty Hunters tracking them for profits and shunned by galactic citizens, these sentient beings needed a refuge. This village is that refuge. The player experience is one where they too can be a character that has these abilities and is seeking both help to understand their abilities and become part of this story. The village has heroic NPC’s, rogues and enemies. There are different stories a player may pursue and different Force Sensitivities that they can develop to make their character somewhat unique.

I think the idea about "the Village" is definitly unique and cool ,a good ingredient to the necesity of new content, althought theconcept could be "out" of the storyline and sense, i think is a good idea since i read about in the chat of stratics yesterday.

I have only one concern with this... well, two: 1) This village would be a perfect place to see BH's sorrounding the area, killing padawans like chickens in the garden. How could be invisible for BH´s and other "Jedi killers"?. In the other hand, we will face the other side: How we could know that all the jedi ppl would desire to live there, avoiding the civilization to not face a BH? the Village would become in a "Ghetto" that would involve a non - interacting community... maybe ok for many, but not good for a online game with a concept of socialize and meet ppl. The "enclaves" would become desert if this happens.

2) I am pretty sure that this village would become Coronet eventually, the "kingdom of the lag" would be know it. Maybe the solution would head to "villages" in 3 planets (Naboo, Corellia and Tattoine in example), to avoid lag.

As players use their characters to play through the Force Sensitive training, their powers will grow and they will choose their Force Sensitivities using the existing skill system by completing quests and then purchasing them with experience and skill points. An exciting new feature about this part of the process will be a new “Quest Journal”. Players will have a new user interface that will help them track the progress of their questing and also give them fictional descriptions and important information in the quest journal.

Same, i need to do special enfasis in the power and casual player... meanwhile one still waiting or starting to do this quests, the others would claim for more content cuz they finished 6 months ago...

When players finish their Force Sensitivity training, they may choose to either remain simply an FS character or go on to Padawan training.

•Do you like the idea of the Village of Aurilia?

Yes, definitly the idea is excellent... just consider the lag situation.

•Do you like the idea of adding a quest journal?

Yes... but plz keep in mind the power and casual player problem... i think SWG is a game for everybody, not just for powergamers...

Plz, be so kind to forgive me for my bad english (i am from Mexico city, you know Kurt), and i am pretty sure some ppl could start to flame me about some of may concepts. My apologize for that, but i want to express my point of view, at this side of the wall.

Maybe i am repeting some concepts and ideas for other ppl, sorry... but i want to express all my opinions.

Wow! 7 pm!!! time to get a pizza Thx for the chance and hope this helps in some way...

This all sounds very cool. However, some of the wording brings me back to a point I made in a recent TH-authored thread: I have spent many, many hours attempting to become Force sensitive and, therefore, a Jedi. I have been playing since Beta 3, and my goal since launch has been to seriously roleplay a Jedi character. I joined a large group of players (FSCSI) who spent countless hours trying to learn the path to becoming a Jedi. Once the Holo grind started, I mastered as many professions as time allowed, without using AFK macros and other tools. Now that path has been removed (and rightly so), and it appears that those of us veterans who are not already Jedi are being thrown back to June 26th of last year.

"It may not be long before you are visited by a mysterious stranger." --- By saying "It may not be long," you are indicating that it very well could be a long time before you are visited by a mysterious stranger.

"...essentially it is to just play the game.... Once players are on the right path they will be welcomed to the village with open arms..." --- So those of us who have been working hard for over a year to achieve this goal now must just go about playing the game in general and hope that a mysterious stranger approaches them at some point, which may or may not be a long way down the road? It sorta' sounds like some of us veterans are being picked up and placed back at the beginning of the game, with just some extra profession badges on our character sheet.

Oh, if only there was something like this from the beginning, when I was not yet a jedi and seeking to become one. It would have been so much more engaging and interesting than the torture of profession grinding.

and we were specifically told in these forums that our progress using the profession mastering system of unlocking would be converted into the new system so our effort would not have been in vain

This is a cool story and all, but unless you develop a path for each individual, it will not remain mysterious and will quickl be optimized for maximum gain once a few players run thru the system.

I realize that the intent here is to eliminate the grinding, but I feel very certain that regardless of what you do, once the system is revealed, it will be grind one way or the other. And lets face it, with all the fan sites etc, the moment anyone finds out anything about the system to FS, it is gonna be known worldwide. Trying to make it mysterious seems futile.

Why not concentrate on making the quest driven path to FS as fun and fulfilling as you can? It is inevitable that once the system is revealed people will want to move forward as quickly as possible. Brand that grinding as you wish, but it is as much a part of MMORPGs as role playing, perhaps even more so

Also keep in mind thathaving a second character slot to do with as you wish, as part of this system almost guarantees that it will be a system popular enough to strain hardware.

Now this is what I'm talkin about! Story, and depth. I absolutely LOVE the idea. However I'd like to make sure that these quests are UNLIKE ANY OTHER QUEST in the game and that the city is instanced. If you manage to do this you will have truely succeeded in making this a truely unique experiance for every player who does these quests.

This is new addition to the game is the reason why I've continued to play the game. I can only hope more new additions to the game can have as much depth and story as this does.
