Thread: In Develepment #2004-1: Changes to the Official Forum Take 2
Interesting change, now do you think the developers are still going to come here and listen to us and read what we think. NO they are not, all they have done is categorize a bunch of posts that they will never read. So it comes back to the sorry excuse they call the correspondent position to fix the problem. Every correspondent says the same thing.
"I am in a one way discussion with the developers on that issue, when I get a response I will let you know" So basically the communication there is lacking too.
Tell you what SOE, just close the freaking boards completely already, that is really want you want to do. You released a sad code base too soon and are getting nailed for it now instead of fixing the problems you put in, you want to quiet the people that are here trying to help you make it better.
This has to be the lamest excuse for a customer service move I have heard out of any company. I am going to give it three more months and see where things are.
Now why did I post that? Do you really CARE that I might leave, you have not cared about the other 10,000 people that left before me, why would one more matter to you.

Could we get an explaination of the new HAM system that will be going in with the next big patch as one of the first items to fall under this new policy? Also the new weapon/combat system. These are by far, the biggest change to the game since release and will drastically change the game, we need to know how.
Here are the issues with the new HAM special system that most everyone needs explained.
1) How is the amount of HAM the special cost now determined (will character stats effect it)?
2) How does player stats (Consitution and Stamina) effect the regeneration of the new HAM system or does it at all?
Here's some questions about the new weapon cert system (novice, master) and combat system?
1) With the new novice and master level weapons, what will happen to the current weapons in the game? This effects nearly every player in the game, crafters, combat professions, and even people who just have the more basic weapons for protection. Will they still work, will they be considered master level weapons, or is it just stuff we are suppose to toss away under the new system?
2) What changes to weapons in general will be happening to balance the weapons?
3) When do you plan on posting information about the new combat system and the new specials each profession will have?
Thanks TH.
Your welcome. My pleasure.
Im working on the patch notes for publish 6now. Ill have a betteridea of the specific changes sometime next week when I go through all of the data.We will be pushing things to In-Test soon. When that happens, Ill post the first passes at some basic "test plans" for those that want to get involved on TC.

Apparently, if you don't agree with them you are ignored.

Give me a break, SWG Discussion is (was) nothing but a whine-fest and had absolutely zero positive effect on the development of the game. Good riddance.

Why should he comment on something they already said was going to happen (and has happened)? It wasn't open for debate.
get over it
And don't get me started on the damage to our community with this divide and conquer routine. If they would stop treating us like an enemy to contain, and if they would stop making questionable decisions and then not face the challenge of answering the questions they create, we would be able to work togather.

Funny, I've been playing since August 1st and ever since I joined I've seen a large portion of the users who seem to feel the Devs are "the enemy" and howl, bitch, moan, flame, etc them every chance they get. Everyone needs to just realize that the SWG Discusion forums are dead, new methods are around and you won't change it. Adapt and live on. We'll have a lot less random crap rants floating around which I know will make me happy

Adapt how? You're not addressing the real problem, which is that there is a valuable feature being removed for which no adequate replacement has been provided or even offered; namely, the ability to get cross-server and cross-profession opinions to player-initiated ideas.
Yes, people whined. But there were also plenty of good threads that only happened because 1) someone posted an interesting idea about the game in generaland 2) people from different servers/professions with worthwhile reactions were able to see the post and thus respond to it.
This isn't possible now. So along with the "random crap rants," out go the good ones.
Doesn't seem like progress to me.

Psychologically, this will reduce feedback, as no one will want to slog through a monster thread daily.
Going through a thread on a specific topic with 200 posts is infinitely easier than going through 200 different threads of which most are non-constructive.
We'll see repeat posts from folks who are not reading the thread, and likely, we'll see even more evidence that the people in charge are just "skimming" and not reading.
This kind of ties in with the above. Duplicate posts in a single thread are a Good Thing. It shows that more than one person is in favor of a certain idea, and it is always possible to expand on those ideas. However, having 5 separate threads on the same topic does nothing but dilute the discussion.
I know this new shift has eliminted me from participating in this aspect of the community.
How exactly? The only thing being eliminated is the confusion over what kind off feedback the staff wants.
And don't get me started on the damage to our community with this divide and conquer routine. If they would stop treating us like an enemy to contain, and if they would stop making questionable decisions and then not face the challenge of answering the questions they create, we would be able to work togather.
I don't see any "divide and conquer" going on. I see the staff actively working to streamline the communication process. That involves cutting out the crap that's slowing that process down, and SWG Discussion is a very large pile of crap.
I have absolutely NO place to post now. My server forums are nice and all but that is NOT the place for general SWG discussion. Sorry.
Divide And Conquer - SWG Discussion Form closing....... hmmm wow how did I put those two thoughts together.....
Recent Game Reviews
On the front page today Cinescape puts SWG as the Best game of 2003.....
While a bit more mainstream site like.... Gamespot
Most disappointing game of 2003
SWG was listed.....
*cough*
A little blatant divergence of opinion no?
What I want to know is how much it costs to sway such opinions.... was gamespots price too high?

You know what else is going to happen here? People just do not have any idea where to post on these threads now. Take the in-testing forum, it is meant for people on test center and someone with a red name has said if you make general comments there they will jsut get deleted.
Now tell me, how is having 115 threads going to help get information to anyone? First people are not going to know where to post something in all that nonsense. There is no way the devs are going to read every post on these threads, mean within minutes of one being posted there are 10 pages of follow-ups to it.
I swear these people need to hire someone to run their customer service department because whoever is in there now is a bungling moron. If that is you Thunderheart or Q-3POed, then you need to stand up and face the music.
Seriously, only Microsoft gets away with more than what you guys are getting away with right now.
Well at any rate when all the CS jobs go to India we will not have anyone listening anyway.
