You guys should check out Eve Online. Its very different from SWG though, so it might not be everyone's cup of tea (strictly in space, time-based leveling, open PvP). Its PHENOMENALLY better I think for two simple reasons: 1. because it is a harder and less forgiving game, the playerbase is much older and more mature 2. The Devs seem to at least care about the community <cough cough listen up SOE>.

And yes, I wrote this basically just out of curiosity to see how long it will be before it disappears.

what a contradiction making the statement of "making SWG the finest MMORPG ever" is to the actual announcement.

I recognize that there was obviously quite a lot of thought put into this decision, but being someone of at least average intelligence, I'm smart enough to think about what was the actual thought process that went into this decision devs? From your stand point I see one of two possible trains of thought: 1) financial - a) either membership was already starting to dwindle, b) you need to have something on the shelf for when all these other games coming out soon will have a peice of the display shelf, c) you're just getting greedy. All of those reasons completely acceptable in the business world. Thought process 2) much more innocent could be you're just so in love with the game as most of us are, that you're getting ahead of yourselves and just can't wait to get and try out your new toys. Whether or not it's either of those two processes, the people at SOE need to realize that the people who have been playing this game since day one have seen a patter emerge, and it's a scary one. That pattern is to continously put off fixing old problems and replace them with new ones. Don't get me wrong, a lot has been done for this game since day one, and it's definitely a much better game then it was, but for the most hardcore players you have, this pattern of yours is becoming iminently clear and is starting to become quite frustrating. Just the thought of introducing something as complex as JTL to this game before fixing the old problems is absolutely terrifying. No matter how well you've planned JTL, it's expected to come with problems that will be fixed over time, but to add those problems onto the ones already existing without fixing them is just ridiculous.

Hey guys, read this a lil while ago, so I clicked the link that says report abuse to a moderator on TH's original post. I suggest everyone else to do the same.

I too will be off to play EVE ONLINE. And perhaps I'll have a try on WORLD OF WARCRAFT when it's available. Until then, CITY OF HEROES may be fun fora few weeks.

Other options are:

DARK AGE OF CAMELOT

ANARCHY ONLINE

FINAL FANTASY XI

You can read about all of these and more at http://www.mmorpg.com/

There ya go ya little forum nazis, earn your slap and tickle from SOE, spineless gimps.

If we do nothing then SOE can do whatever they want. I can not live with doing nothing, can you? I can live with the fact that SOE may never fix the combat system since I know JTL will be just as bugged as the ground game but I cant live with sitting by and doing nothing while it happens.

Email the game reviewers and help get our voice heard. If you do nothing then SOE wins and we the players lose. Dont stand by and let them get away with the lies, do something!!!

Well, I guess I'll get a word in here, I just hope someone is paying attention to this thread. I've been a software engineer for over 10 years, so you will not find me unappreciative of what has been accomplished with the game as a whole.Anyway, the server I play on , Corbantis, has been quite empty the past few days and it's pretty sad. Putting off overdue promised fixes to the ground game in favor of an expansion is an interesting decision. I've been through all the "usual" corporate BS in my career, and I can imagine what must be going on at SoE. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the people making money decisions are concerned that delaying JTLS will impact budget projections, which = people in trouble with the guys upstairs. When I first saw this thread I figured many people were talking big but would finish their rant and go log anyway. What I have seen the past few nights in terms of empty starports, etc confirms the exodus however. I hadn't been planning to leave as a result of this announcement directly, however now I must consider the fact that an empty server really diminishes the game. The in-game economy is already affected, I have been seeing lone doctors selling sub-par 20k buffs in the Coronet starport due to a lack of competition. As a player,I think JTLS should be put on hold immediately and all available resources directed at making things right in the ground game. As a professional, I realize that the chances of that happening are slim to none in the real world. A week or so ago, I found myself telling my buddies at work that I had no interest in World of Warcraft. Now I can't help but think it may be the only option. I would really prefer SWG however, so I just hope SoE can take a giant leap in community service and listen to the subscriber base on this one...

Personally, I am beginning to think that Dilbert's pointy haired boss is running the show.

I'm actually glad TH isn't responding yet.

No news is good news in my book.

I bet it's asses and elbows in SWG offices today.

Come on SOE, make the right choice, the JTL expansion can survive a Dec release IF the gameworks.

HOPEFULLY they ARE dealing with it and not just ignoring it and hoping we all go away, cause by my count, at LEAST 2,000 Account have been cancelled from these 2 threads and from several others I have been on this weekend.

how do you now that at least 2k accounts have been canceled in 2 threads? Just by people saying they are canceling and then taken everyones word for it? If so I would venture a guess that 2k is a bit of an over estimate...i mean how do we know that those statements are not idol trheats, or that they were not just passionate exclamations made from the heat of the moment?

Anyways, I agreed that this is total horse dunggity poop poo what the devs are doing by delaying the combat balance. I am really upset about this and will definitly consider my options if the stated postponement of the CB is not changed.

Stupid game....errr devs

Well this is what i think is happening they have a had a meeting about what to say and now they are trying to get Thunderheart out the door to go post it and he has said.... " stuff that you go out there and post that to those guys they rip me apart" all the while he is hanging on to the door trims for dear life and they are trying to push him out there saying... "it's your job you wanted it now go get em tiger" and all you can see is a few of the other guys sitting around the desk saying....." thank god i don't to have to do it i have a wife and kids to think of".
