bah, don't know what happened but it posted without me 
a. There should be only 2-3 battlefields. Now I loved the variety. So I think there should still be the same amount of locations, but have them alternate locations once a week/month. To get ppl moving around!
2. The Battlefields had no real effect or outcome in the game.
a. They should effect the planets political status, (like voting on the planets capital). The battlefields will keep score and which ever side had the most wins. Their dominace would be present throughout the planet. (like rebel/Imperial troops around cities at all times across the planet, those cities that are always a certain faction would battle against invading opposing faction NPC's) And a global perk to that planet. Like enhanced crafting, enhanced accuracy, enhanced damage.... etc. It would be a minimal change and effect every one on the planet that was on the winning faction side! Eventually all planets would have different dominace and features once the battlefields cycled through.
And I feel it would create a greater sense of struggle of GCW! Ppl would be fighting for thier dominace over the planet!
3. Perks that were not present or not working
a. I never saw things such as. AT-AT's, Shuttle pickups for your troops, faction weapons (that were decent). I think in these battlefields we sould see. bunkers for troops to establish positions, Everybody should use equal Faction issued weapons (no sliced weapons or pre-nerfed ones), AT-AT's, Troop reinfocements, small NPC armies to command, Ranged weapon installations like ION cannons, etc.... you guys can think of more.
I think this would make things more exciting and compelling. And best of all the War would effect EVERYONE! Which is how it should be!

HOTH BATTLE PLANET
A Hoth planet added to each server, this planet is for battles ONLY, players will shuttle there for the soul purpose of battle, you can choose to be either Imp or Rebel, factions do not count here, so every player can play from either side and neutrals can join in on the fun for either side.
Rebel Side
Players will spawn in Rebel battle gear and man turrents and other weapons in defense of the Hoth base against Imperial forces, deep inside the base is flag that has to be defended. If a player dies they respawn in 20 seconds in the ship hanger.
Imperial Side.
Players will Spawn at two locations from the Rebel base, Imperials will then attempt to take the Rebel base, if killed they will respawn back at their original spawning points, imperial players spawn in snowtrooper gear, the object to take the rebel flag in their base and thus win for the imperial side.
Devs can decide on players using vehicles or not, Snowspeeders, driving AT AT's or AT ST's and maybe three different classes of fighters with different weapons depending on what class you choose.
This is based on the Battlefield 1942/Vietnam style of gameplay..except you will have your character name and your kills and victories will be tallied individually.

Yeah i hope they fix battlefields was a cool concept, that just didnt work.

Battlefields did have issues but mostly with lag brought on by the number of players in a LOCAL WORLD area all queued up in combat (Imagine having a few Coronet Starports on each planet). The oddities with the spawning content were negligable as most of us ignored them and went player on player. Battlefields were a wonderful concept for player tool for designed in game content. I hope that one day they will return with the IDEAS in place thought of oh so many months ago to limit the lag potential.

why not make a pvp area? similiary to the DaoC pvp areas for example. They got a specific area u load up. I think that would solve the problems for us. One of these specific areas on maybe 3 of all planets?
Not a possibility this might be the solution?

If the revamp wasn't ready to be implemented within a month's time, you silly twits, then you shouldn't have taken down the battlefields!
Dont' give me GCW revamp runarounds, don't give me "Wait for JTL" or "Combat Rebalance"
I'm not a god-damn Jedi, I'll never be one, but I pay as much god-damn money for this game as they do AND I WANT TO SEE SOMETHING, ANYTHING FOR IT!!

not all battlefields were pvp, some were pve with imperials fighting ncp rebels or vice versa.

Here's a crazy idea: why don't the devs LISTEN to the players? I see dozens of posts here every week saying "battlefields... combat rebalance... smuggler revamp... etc..." and what do the devs do? They spend 2 months messing about with Jedi and in my opinion, ruining the game. Here's a question for the devs: Have you actually SEEN the Star Wars movies? I have and I didn't see four or five Jedi running around EVERY planet showing off fearlessly. This next publish had better sort it out cos if this game becomes "Jedi Online" I'm quitting. It's not Star Wars at all, it's just a Sci-fi MMORPG with a Star Wars skin on it.
Disclaimer: I understand that the Devs work very hard on SWG and it is the finest MMORPG out there at the moment, and my complaint is not that they're lazy or, indeed incapable, I just think that they should manage their time better and listen to the same complaints that they must get every day and stop fixing things that aren't broken!!

When I bought the game I was hoping that SWG would have artillery and cavalry units to use in fighting in the Galactic ground war. I thought I had read that that was in development in one of the forums. I would not be dissapointed if those units were limited to the battlefields alone. It is probably the best place for them to keep the game balanced. Vehicles that allow one player to drive and another to shoot from and that can be captured by players of the opposing faction would create the intensity that large battles are currently missing.

Just to keep everyone informed, Battlefields will be closed down for a complete upgrade. As part of the team’s efforts in 2004, the GCW is going to progressively heat up. We want it to peak with re-iterated battlefields, completely re-vamped and exciting.
To do that, we have to close them down. Battlefields are closed for business. I will keep you updated and involved with the changes. When the time is appropriate, I'll post an In-Dev thread so we can get your ideas on what the battlefield experience should be like.

i know that this is kind of way out there but... how about making fighting in battlefields real-time just like the how the space combat is suppose to be. That would create a HUGE variety to the game and be a lot more fun too since theres suppose to be a lot of people on the battlefield. I dunno about you but it kinda gets boring just setting up a macro and watching ur player shoot in the middle of a battlefield. It would get players into the game more, and again, a HUGE variety in the game
