Thread: Icons over heads

Raph Koster:

Is there any chance that we can get an open Topic or category here under the Dev Forum to list bugs or suggestions? This might help to seperate general gripes from other topics where Dev is trying to get specific feedback on one particular idea. I would even be happy to see a patch/fixes to-do list. That way every time I find a hostile thug inside of a street lamp, and no matter how hard I try I"cannotsee my target,"I can know that somewhere a developer is working on it.

Kudos to your team. Thank you for listening to us.

let the icon also let the medics know the sub categories such as stamina or strength are wounded as well as teh main ones.

About the icon over a wounded persons head. You can do this if you want, but a simple click on a character will show that they are wounded. So if it is going to take programers a while to add this Icon, I would say don't do it. There are bigger problems in the SWG than an icon over a wounded persons head. But if you do decide to implement the "wound icon", then the toggle for turning it on and off should be on the /diagnose menu. Most medics have to pull this menu up to see what they are dealing with anyways. Now who should see the? I would say that the icon should only be visable to people who have the capability to heal wounds, and they should only see itwhen the woundedcharacter is in a place of healing, such as a camp or a med center.

Now the idea for the group leader to place an icon over the target to attack is a GREAT idea! You should also think about changing the highlight color for the targeted creature so everyone in the group knows that this is the creature that we will attack. I'm not a squad leader, but I am usually leader the leader of the hunting groups that I participate in.Haveing to group chat what the target is can be difficult when there are multiple targets with that name present. (ie: I was fighting a bull bantha lair, needed herbavore meat, with a group. I would say "attack the bull bantha" but there are three on the screen. This usually ends up with one or two people getting incaped. So I started to justbleed the target while everyone waited to see who we should attack. When I'd bleed a bantha and they started to run after me, everyone knew who to attack. But after two missions my BF is really high, and wounds are starting to appear. So I agree with this idea, would make gameplay a lot easier. (who ever though of this one should get a promotion.)

Thanks for asking for input.

I think this is a great idea for healing purposes for people who are co-factioned or people who are grouped. I do not think opposing factioned or ungrouped people should see this icon (or HAM bars for that matter).

I love the idea of Squad Leaders getting the target icon.

I think Icons are a good thing, but they must be controlled by individual players so that the option to turn them off is available.

But for targetting specifically, perhaps a /targetwounded or /targetcorpse would work better so a medic or doctor can easily scan through available choices from most serious to least serious, just as the /target command works with the closest attacker first to the farthest, because in crowded rooms.

An automatic current group target icon (from the group leader) would be a good idea as well so we know what the main target is, but that is not so different from the /assist command. Should work for all groups, not just groups that include a SL.

If I can turn it off. I really dislike Icons above heads. But if i can turn off the Icons I don't see any reason to dislike it. I'm sure others will find it very helpful.

But please, please, please let us turn them off!

I already have stuff that i can't figure out how to turn off. Like my Radar. I hate that thing and yet i can't seem to get rid of it!

Personally, I'd be much happier with easier targetting for medics...as it is, in PvP, I'm trying to chase non-grouped faction members with my mouse while they run around all over the place getting killed...EXTREMELY annoying.

Friendly-targetting system like the tab would be great! (:

I've been asking for this for SOOO long now! This is what we(medics and others) need.

As for the Icons, you have to figure out how to handle it for factions and neutral. Group is already covered. You don't want the opposite faction to see these icons, but neutrals and same aligned factionswould need to see them.

A problem I forsee with this is it's hard enough trying to find someone in a small area when all the player names get intermingled. The icons used need to be grouped like what we see when we target a player and be large enough to see and not get mixed up with other players icons.

We can see the effects of things like fire, poison and disease, but things like dizzy/stun/intimdate is not seen.

OH!! Tell him he is a genius! or atleast very cool

I am a doc.. hehe..

I would want to ajust when it came up though, OR have it set low.. like i dont want it coming up when they are only 25% wounded.

I am at a camp all the time and some guy is screaming HEAL HEAL for his wound.. and he has like a sliver of black on his bar.. I am like waaaaaa? your fine! lol I walk aruond with black on my bars all the time if i forget to clone.. anways just dont have it over there heads to earlie is what I am saying.

Icons for POISNED would help a alot.. DISEASE.. X amount wounded.. X amount damage.. etc.. etc..

LOVERLY!

I don't like that.

At first, i don't want to be highlighted in PvP as an Easy Target.

And I don't want to run around with a Icon over my head.
If I need someone to heal my wounds, I'll go to a Med Center and find a Doc od Medic.

If you have to implement more funny icons, Then make it so that i can decide if i can see them AND if my Char displays them.
