Thread: Icons over heads
SL and Medics should both be able to see it, an turn it off if the options menu.
It'sa good idea, but for filters you'd probably want to filter out anyone not in your group, or maybe even not in you faction. For the simple fact that it'd be like painting a targetting recticle on your back so that anyone from the opposing faction would know to look at you as an easy kill.
Good idea though. But perhaps you could add a Key or hot key for Medic/Doc/CM/etc so that it would target only those people in your group with the Heavy Damage Icon. This would make it even better for Groups as the Medics wouldn't have to have the Group information bar up anymore. They could just cycle through the specific list of people who are already wounded.
Maybe even let the players specify at what percentage HAM left they want to be known to their medic as heavily wounded?

The idea would be okay as long as there is a way to turn them off.
I can see how others like this and could use it, but I really don't care for all of these 'otherworldly' icons and Warner Brothers cartoon symbols (the bleeding thing, blinding, etc).
I know this wont get read way at the bottom here, but I would like to see players be able to highlight agroup member. The group leader has a different color tag but all other group members have the same color. The reason for this would be to protect low-level combat characters. ie. doctors with rez kits.
This way a character selected will stand out better in a crowded battlefield, obviously this would be a client side feature.
Well thats my 2 cents hopefully it will get read, and if someone else mentioned it before, sorry I didnt read all of the posts.

Personally, I don't like the idea. Basically you are putting a large 'bullseye' target over the weakest member of a battle/group/party. If I was is a street fight or battle and saw that someone was now near death because of some floating icon over that persons head, I'd be sure to target that person on purpose: 1) easy kill and XP, 2) deny heal XP to medic in the field, 3) sure ride to send someone to cloning facility.
When you group with a someone and their HAM bar becomes visible to you by yours, isn't that already an indicator that that person may be in trouble. I see this as a duplication of information.
Woundssymbol should only be visable to those novice medics within your party and no one else. They should be turned on only by a key press of the person wounded heavily. This is to act as a wounded soldier on the battlefield yelling "I need a MEDIC!" to draw their attention.
I think that group leaders should be able to designate a target for the group, squad leader or not. But, I do think that squad leaders should be able to do this better in some way. (not familiar with the SL prof, so I have no suggestion on what can be better for them in this respect.)
Thanks

Another suggestion was the ability for a group leader to set an icon over a target (I believe that the squad leaders have already asked for something like this as an ability). Ability for anyone? For SL's only?
What do you think about all these notions?
This is a similar idea that I think may also help for groups, Holo. Since you can hit CTRL+# to automatically access any member of a group by pressing their # in your group list, how about Numbering the gruop names. So say if there's 5 ppl in your group, since you (as the player is always CTRL+1) would have a 1 next to your name, the group leader (who's always CTRL+2) would have a 2, and then so on down the list. That way you can just look at your group list on the left side of your screen, find the persons number and hit CTRL+# to select that person.
We use TeamSpeakin ourclan for group hunts and there have been several times when someone says "I've been incapped". Then the medic has to find that person. If the medic (I'm one of them) could just look at his group list, see that the person who's been incapped is number 4, then hit CTRL+4, it would make finding them much faster, instead of having to count the number of names in the group to find the incapped player ![]()
Maybe put the number in front of the name, in some color other than the color scheme the person is using so it stands out. For instance I use the Windu Purple color scheme, so making the nubmer icon BOLD and say Red or White would really jump out.
Don't know how hard this would to implement, but there's my 2 credits worth ![]()
kinda stupid if u ask me......thats what group bars are for.
Also if u want to get healed then get in a group with a medic!

I'd like to see a variation of this also added to the con system. A friend of mine is color blind and has a lot of difficulty determining the con of creatures. Something that would help all the color blind people is a symbol or number system displayedabove the creatures head right beside the color icon.

I'd like to see the tab-targetting system actually working in a useful manner first, then you can base other cool stuff on it.
As for icons, how about markets on the character bar only, to avoid opposite faction members from easily homing in on the easy kills. When grouped, it'd be easy for the medics to see who they need to heal first.
Tab-targetting should be fixed so it works too.l
If "they who need healing" are in another group, then I believe there prolly *should* be a modicum of difficulty involved in targeting them, altho that should simply be leaving things as they are and *NOT* adding to the game to *make* it more difficult to heal them (cuz you know some dolt will read what I've said and start to draw the bloody-minded nerf bat).
Ideally, a system that enhances a medics ability to target for heals that also doesn't reveal the details to your current enemy.
Did I mention that tab targeting needs to be rewritten / fixed / scrapped and replaced so it works?
I don't suppose it would be too much to ask for an injury animation? It might be a lot of extra work but it would be a great, immersive way to perform the same thing as the icon. Too many icons make it look more like a game, less like a world.
Definitely need a way to turn the icon off. Also it would be a good idea to have it visible to medics, doctors, CMs only!
