well altho I like the idea of having 12 vendors at master merchent. The item limit is still a bit scary. If any gorath players visited the mall in new haven and looked at my vendors. I keep my vendors stocked and stocked good. the item limit only forces me to limit what i make, thus only providing goods to a certain group.
there are 9 pieces of armor to a suit of advanced composite, at master merchent on my armor vendor this means i can sell a grand total of 27 suits of adv comp which with my customer base wont even last me 2 days.
now lets look at tailoring.
how many diferent colors, and choices are there?
or how about doctors making their medical supplies using meat from each of the diferent planets? that will break the 250 limit easily.
if Sony is going to go thru the trouble of writing the code to have an item limit to help reduse data base problems. why not just fix the current system?? like instead of when i do a 1k run of composit segments and end up with 50 piece crates. just have 1 crate of 1,000. since acording to the dev posts the items arent created till removed from the crates anyways.. i did a inventory check of my supplies .... and i currently have in stock ready to use over 5000 qty of panels, armor layers, cloth, armor segments. etc.. that is ALOT of crates for the date base to keep track off.. corect??
which brings me to my 2nd point. recources which i use tons of to keep my stockpiles all ready for my customers. i have 3 accounts just so i can have enuff housing lots to store just the recources. remember the stack limit on recources in the beta? why not just increase it again to 1 mil stacks instead of 100k. that would cut out alot of data base lag. since the number of 100k stacks would be derasticly reduced.
yes i agree changes are needed... but the question is, will the changes truly be beneficial or will it couse more harm than good? i mean lets not forget we players are here to have fun im SWG rather than to spend 8 hours a day ina out of game job, then log in to spend another 8 hours working to keep the vendors maxxed at 3000 items for master merchent . or is this sony's way of attempting to downsize us large empire merchents so that others will have opertunity to snag our customer base away from us?
nomatter.. just had to add my 2 cents worth..
if you are on gorath be sure to visit gorath trade forums. over the next few weeks over 54 mil in recources will be auctioned off
current auction is at this thread
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=gorath_trade&message.id=97255
bid now while ya can =) liquidtion sale in process.

TH, while these changes are good for the existing merchants removing the ability to manage a placed vendor from non-merchants is going to cause a lot of un-nescessary pain. You're still making Merchant required for any crafter instead of desired. The little guys who wish to do things other than craft are completely screwed unless they get a second account. There is no possible way to enjoy the game as a combatant, and as a crafter. Previously, you could explore both aspects of the game (not easily) but it was still possible. Now, it's impossible. Many, many players will not be willing to purchase a seperate account. If merchants could actually function as merchants, providing an easy way to be the 'middleman' in the crafter-customer relationship this would not be a big deal. However, you haven't provided these tools! Selling wares through a merchant on a rental or consignment rate should really be a part of the game first.
I agree in part with that staitment. And also feel that it means you need merchant as a part of your template if you are going to sell certan types of things.
But what i really see as part of this would be 'No more Mandoloron armour', as for that you would somehow have to sneek a crafter down to the forge while he has no combat skills. So the first shot on him will hit and posibally kill the poor guy or gal. So in turn he or she will need their own privite doc to res them every room or just lay there for 9.8 minutes after dieing, being dragged around the place by a medic and then having to be ressed before the auto clone cuts in.
But yeah, its made the limits better, and i like a few other people here would like to see the max limit system changed a little, so that any vendor can hold X ammount of the items. So this would mean that with my components vendor i could have the 1000 items on it i currently stock. But i wouldnt have as many items on many of my other vendors.
Got something to cheer about aswell *Wooooooooooo YAY! WOOOO! YEAH!* with the cap made to 250 items i can keep my 1 of every type of clothing vendor.

Smooth, very smooth. And a smart (and ironic) approach to a Vendor Nerf by playing that "used car salesman role" - start the offer withsomething ridiculous to make the customer feel like they won something in negotiations.
...suckers, I can't believe the population here fell for it.

Quick summary
"Ok, this is more in line with what could be expected of the Merchant profesion." At least this seems to be the general opinion.
The caps
+ The new250 items / vendor - higher for M. merchant - is reasonable for most professions. Good job!
- Was it really that hard to understand that the community would scream about the initial low cap?
12 vendors
+ Diversity. As a WS I could - had I wanted to - have one vendor dedicated to every fighting profession, example "BH Weapons" etc.
- 12 vendors in a merchant tent...? Hehe, it's gonna be tight and hot like h... in there
My personal opinion
After this patch, people won't be able to mastermultiple profs at the same time as making big bucks from 12 vendors.
Some master doc's/CM's are concerned about not beeing able to have a a master doc / master fighter character while at the same time being able to runvendors. I do understand your point, but keep in mind that M.doc is a very powerful profession in the first place. For example, as a master WS I don't have the points left to be a M-doc and master a fighting professionat the same time... and what good is a WS in the field...?
Maybe it will take a little more of co-operation; for example some guilds may implement a guild-merchant, who buys stock of the crafters (so that they don't have to spend points on m-skills) and then sell it on his/her vendors with a xx % profit?
Ok ok, I'd love if I still wouln't have to spend any points on merchant, but let's just face it; we can't eat the cookie and still have it in front of us... To be honest, noonehad been screaming, had this been included in the game from the start.
Questions
* Will backpacks with stuff incount as one item?
* How long will a vendor stay up if it's unattended?
* Will maintenace costs per vendor still be the same?
* If you place a vendor with a uniform and a weapon or a certain race and then drop the skill, will the uniform / weapon / race be removed?
* I presume that one will have to keep advertisingIII to stay on the planet map?
(i will keep adding questions to this thread)

Im a master merchant, architect, and artisanand happy with the new limits. I am not too thrilled with having to use 12 vendors to get there but if its required for the limit, Im all for it.
The one question I do have is this: Will there be a limit on listing price forthcoming (to 10 or even 5 million) to battle the storage vendor issue? If not (or even if so) will there be any other steps taken to battle this problem?

Can we please have some confirmation about items sold in a backpack and how they will be counted against the vendor limits? I have seen several armorsmiths ask about this in this thread and others and have yet to see an answer.

This is good for people who are dedicated to the merchant profession esp master merchants, but for people who just want/NEED a vendor- this totally screws us.
100 items-??
Im a crafter and I have more than 100 itemsjust forresources, and MUCH more for things that I sell.
I fell that we should be given just a bit more- 100 items is really NOTHING. I mean maybe give us 250- Im not one of those pack rats, but Ido hunt alot, and currently I have 500 items on my vendor ALL for sale.
Between my products and my looted items the 100 item cap would just KILL my business, and cause me to have to 1 stop hunting , or 2 MASSIVE DELETION of ALL kinds of stuff.
There arethree things you can do
(1) Be fair , give us more space- a reasonable amout- say 250 at business 3 (which is what im at) 350 at business 4 and + 1 vendor ( so a total of 350 items
(2) increase the max sale price on all bazaar's to maybe 10 -15K
(3) Do what you guys allways do SCREW US- I thought hitler was dead - come one- U give us somthing - then take it back,
Then give us somthing else- only to nerf it, or disable it, I HAVE LOST ALOT OF RESPECT FOR SONY AS A COMPANY, and ANYTHING THEY PUT THEIR NAME TO. ANYTHING- including electronics.
I think that sony must want people to quit, because there cannot be any other reason for thier actions.
Sony's Faults:
No sense of Priorities -( they want to launch JTL when we STILL HAVE BUGS BUGS BUGS- a year later? OMFG)
ZERO sense of customer service
No Forthsight
NO REAL UNDERSTANDING, OF WHAT THEY PUT US ALL THROUGH.
Sony's to do list
1 Launch jtl
2 take money
3 count money
4 use deceit and subterfuge when speaking to players/customers
5 Lame @SS changes- that hurt alot more then help
6 go to lunch
7 count money
8 a bug or two---maybe- only if players start to revolt
How can we be thinking forward when we WARP WHEN SITTING OR DISMOUNTING- COME ON!
Sonys to do list (the way I feel)
1TAKE ACCOUNT OF ALL THE PLAYERS COMPLAINTS AND SUGGESTIONS
2 FIX BUGS
3 FIX BUGs
4 FIX BUGS
5 FIX BUGS --- sorry there are ALOT of bugs
6 IMPLEMENT POSITIVE CHANGES- that PLAYERS ,not coperate puppets decide on
7 Take feedback, and adjust when needed
8 Applogize for blinders in the past, and also totaly lack for concearn.
Give us some hope, some reason to log on-
Im really tired of the nazi simulation.
This has been a long time in the making.
The fact of the matter is that we are all fed up with the problems associated with SWG.
we just want to have fun
I applogize for my rather out of controlness- but when fustration builds-BOOM!!!
Come on SOE restore the faith- if u can
In game name Anowie

Oh btw WHAT THE FREAK IS THERE A TIME LIMIT ON VENDORS FOR?
its a major pain to have to re-list a crap load of items.
esp if u loaded like 100 items that day- like the first day I got my vendor--
that BARAGE of email was also a friggin pain
PS My above thread isnt just talking about the vendor issue- it also addresses my feeling on sony as a whole.
They've got a good game on their hands- and they are BLOWIN it- hardcore.
- heh some days I actually have fun-- weird huh.
If there wasnt the chance for
I would be nothing but tail-lights
