Squidd, just out of curiousity, are you even a crafter? Have you even tried the new quests? Even for a novice, there is no point to it. You can grind with a macro, and gain xp much faster than if you were to these quests. With grinding, you can also choose what you want to grind. With these missions, they tell you what to make. If you don't like it, it makes you wait (not sure how long), before you can choose to do a quest again. Also, as a novice, more than likely you need to pay for the resources you need to use in crafting the items required. You wouldn't be getting your moneys worth. As a novice, it's much easier to just do the survey quests, or the basic crafting missions provided by the terminal to make a little extra money buying resources.

When's that? After the third expansion?

No no...it's coming soon. Most of the code is already worked out. They've been looking over suggestions from the crafting community for months, and it should only take 1 or 2 more "most needed fix" polls in order to really nail it down.

See, they feel the pain that the crafting community has been feeling, and they know that this is a priority for most players. Thunderheart has been working closely with the devs and the community, so the devs know just how vital this is.

It's a complex system, and the devs want to take the time to do it right. They are determined to only put out quality, thoroughly tested patches, especially on something this big. Thunderheart feels confident that when the new system is in place, it will be a big improvement for everyone, helping make this the best MMORPG on the market.

LOL! I love it.

One thing you need to take into account for the usefullness of these quests is that some items are not worth crafting for experience. Only certain items are. For droid engineer, for example, I can make the relatively simple Advanced Droid Frame Unit for ~500xp that takes two different resources. If I make the R2 or Probot ADV droid chassis, which require subcomponents and a lot of prep time to make, I get a measly amount of XP relative to that. Some items that require very little in the way of resources, but a lot of subcomponents grant you little to no XP.

XP grants for complex items need to be addressed. I've mastered DE twice, and the second time I told myself that I would not grind ADFU's for XP. Eventually I got so fed up with the things I was crafting that I started to do so. I know this is my choice, but if, as a low level DE, I could've gotten a decent XP reward for making a full R5 to sell, I wouldn't have been grinding.

If the goal is to get away from a grind mentality to reach master, then this really needs to be looked at.

A hard Arch mission was to deliver 9 Large Generic houses, ummm lets see, make 1 mil in houses for 10k? NOT!

lol, at least they should have a sense of humor about it, no?

*stupid architect hands over 9 large houses*

NPC: /emote bends architect over and kicks him in the rear

NPC: "you stupid ****** you could have sold those houses for 1 mil and you just handed them to me for nothing"

NPC: "come back when you've learned some "merchant" skills, and no, I don't mean the skill tree"

Then it should insert a special "badge" into your profile:

... cluelessly got duped out of 9 large houses by NPC on Coronet

Thunderheart, I pity you.

Because you have to deal with the SWG forum community which is, overall, quite pathetic. The in-game community is pretty pathetic, too.

Forget the feedback polls. Let's do an age poll.

I guarantee that more than half of the community is under the age of 16.

Half of those haven't even seen a Star Wars film.

Keep on fighting the good fight, TH. You're a classy guy, a hard worker, and you're going places.

Garabaldi, I feel bad for you.

Because you have to deal with a game which is, overall, quite broken. The community reps are pretty pathetic, too.

Forget the age poll, let's do a quality assurance check.

I guarantee that more than half of the patches have broke something which has yet to be fixed.

Half of the players only stick around because of a blind loyalty to a movie.

Keep on playing the game though, Garabaldi. I'm sure the developers really value your opinion. You're going places, as long as you're a Jedi, Combat Medic, or Rifleman.

I take this to mean that you're 16 or 17, yes?

Most of the community members that I know (e.g. the ones that post on these forums) are adults with jobs, most of them either in software or the military.

I myself would probably be much easier on the developers of this game if I didn't have real-world industry experience, which has taught me thatyes, programming is hard, but that's not an excuse for putting a broken product out the door and calling it gold.

You'll note that many of the other more vocal posters make references that hint at experience in either software development or game design. If anything the "under the age of 16 posters" seem to be on the side of saying "omg lolz teh game is fine, give the devs a break, programming is hard k?"

I have not read this whole thread so ...

It seems to me that these missions should be altered to teach the newbie crafter about experimenting. The task could be "craft me 10 stim A" with a hint as to how number of shots could be increased. Other missions would be along the same lines " craft me Stim A with 70+ heal " etc etc

Why solicit feedback from this small sliver of the overall fanbase that reads the forum when you could be getting much more meaningful feedback from all those people that are actually playing the game?

I've never been a big fan of Dev bashing, but this man does have a very damn good point

Now theres a man who knows what he's talking about.....We know you hear us TH...I think our great hopes for the game are sometimes over powered by the small odd things the DEVS do give us, considering there are so many other things we would like to see! (pssst Imperial Hats) Wink!!

SO right, you have harvesters, houses, guild halls in the way, i dont know why they even brought this track thing up with peoples houses and stuff in the way, takes away valuable secs and takes the fun out of racing, because you have all these ridiculous things in the way...in kettermoor, hell all the servers you have somemoron putting things in the tracks way... this wont work out lol

I personally like the look of the new and old armor.. it resembles ancient Samurai warrior armor.. the one with the horns.. well maybe its to blend in with the other critters.. It also reminds me of the Roman Gladiators.. I like it, good job, and it is bout time that there is some decent armor for the wooks. And there will always be the people that are never satisfied, that the game is failing, doom and gloom<insert rhetoric here >, but I, for one am just happy that Lucas Arts allowed the game devs to add wook armor...

Thanks !

The emote has nothing to with this. If you stop moving BEFORE mounting, and come to a complete stop before dismounting your vehicle will never warp. Try it out. Since I discoveredand began practicing this(months ago) my vehicle has never warped.

So when i went to lunch today, and left my toon who was on my speederbike outside of the Cantina on coronet, then came back half an hour later and was thrown thru the cantina wall, it was because i hadn't stopped yet? We need to decrease the time to stop to less then half an hour then!

Actually if you come to a complete stop before mounting your bike, you won't warp when you get off. That might be what Artisan43 meant. Once I realized this, I haven't warped a single meter getting off my bike.

Checking your spelling (and punctuation, too) will ensure that you're making sense to more than two people.

Kinda funny that I never everheard of anyone asking for a crafting quest system yet the devs spend valuable programming time working on one rather than fixing current bugs. That saddens me.
