<3 Devs

Devs, you are all awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! As a player who isn't able to play large amounts of time, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Decreased starport times will greatly enhance the game experience (by making there be less wait time)

I personally disagree with this, but not for immersion.

It is my belief that the GCW, Profession skills and more could have been a more viable option. Rather than just adjust it for everyone. I consider this a loss of a great opportunity to add something to the game.

I agree with you. You'd think this would be the last thing they would want to change with JTL coming out soon.

While I am extremely grateful for the reduction of starport waits to 5 minutes from 10, I am still hoping for the day we can dispense with this "little bit of realism" altogether. If we were soooo concerned with realism, we would not be fighting witches, and cavemen wearing furs with 40% energy resists (???), and 30 foot tall turtles....would we?

As far as the social aspect, we can still get that in the cantinas, and if we do something about those confounded lame tumblers in the med centers (disallow tumbling in med centers, or while not in combat state), we can socialize while actually getting healed by a doctor not distracted by somebody who will "tumble for food".

how does it make sense, to anyone, that wookiees can rip peoples arms off and yet they cant even wear armor made of HIDE AND WOOD?

YES our armor had lower encumbrance than composite.... WHY you ask?

well for one, our armor is only 4 pieces. even at 4 pieces we couldnt put on a full suit unbuffed (with maxed secondaries at cap of 550 or whatever)

secondly, our armor is made of HIDE... and WOOD... both are lightweight materials and both are a pain in the you know what to get.

that's the tradeoff. our armor resources are painfully difficult to aquire (ESPECIALLY resources with decent quality) and as far as i know, they dont use much, if any, metal.

/thumbs down for wookiee armor nerf
/thumbs up for the rest of the patch

1. Everyone has to buff to put on their armor. Deal.

2. Huh? Composite AND ubese also require Hide, just like the wookiee armors do... and wood is just as easy to get as any other resource. You can use harvestors to gather it, and it's no more or less rare than any of the other resources needed to make high-end armor. The wookiee armors are no more difficult to make than Ubese or Composite.

And I didn't even one-star you.

as for the buffing to put armor on, my point is that our 4 pieces which dont cover full body shouldnt be as heavy as 9 pieces of metallic composite.

ok, pretty much all of the resources used in hunting armor are NAMED hides bones and woods. that reduces quality drastically and no the organics arent very easy to come by in large quantities.

Message Edited by KauraMonser on 08-10-2004 11:26 AM

I can only put on myComposite Chest Plate, Pants, Helmet and Gloves before I have to buff.

Composite also requires mostly named resources (including named hide)... and no, wood is NOT hard to come by in large quantities. It can be harvested by harvestors like any other flora. You survey for it, find it, and drop some harvs on it. Just like all the other easy to find stuff.

I know this is late with JTLS coming in a few months (I hope), but I always wondered why there was not a system like airports: e.g.I can pay more to get there faster. I know this would be a huge coding change, since the shuttles would be arriving at different timesfor each player. Just a thought, though...

consider yourself lucky that you are not gimped from the beginning of the game. we wookiees have been gimped for almost a YEAR, while you can wear composite out of the bat. don't give me the reason that "you choose wookiee in the beginning knowing you can't wear armor," FYI, SOE changed that on their online documentation, when we complained.

we wookiees DESERVED the lovin that the devs are now giving us.

Message Edited by WIldWhippy on 08-10-2004 11:52 AM

Huh? What does this have to do with anything I said? I AGREE it was lame that wookiees couldn't wear armor, and they definitely deserved the love that they've gotten so far. I never said otherwise.

I'm just correcting some misconceptions another wookiee has, that's all.

Not true. Everyone on the server I play on hates the 10 minute wait. Every time I'm standing waiting at the starport, you will always here people complaining about the time. Not once have I ever seen someone happy they had to wait. The comments you quoted are just down right stupid, as is your entire post. We had a 100+ page discussion on Times vs. Immersion where we expressed our views that waiting was LAME.

Word on the street from the common player is... THANK GOD! Not "meh".

I am ok with the Encumberance Increase on the wookiee armors it needed it...

But The chest plate alone on the Hunting armor (mind you this is the only place that got a ham increase on both armors) has now a Mind of + 300 to the base MIND pool Cap where the HEALTH and ACTION Stayed the same...

HAM cost now on a wookiee chest plate will eat most of a wookiees 650/600 Secondary Mind Stats.... and does not last nearly as long as a suit of composite with the same HAM costs...

If the chest plates on wookiee armor (using Hunting armor as an example) is going to be as heavy as 1 helmet, 2 bracers and the chest plate, in one part the durability of the armor should be increased on that one part to represnet the fact that the one part protects 4 Locations...

Considering that the chest plates did not recieve an Increase in durability, Considering that the four locations that the chest protects, is a total of 36 to 40k Durability... For a Chest plate that protects 4 hit locations where in a suit of Composite armor you have 4 Individual Locations to be hit with each having 36k durability average

So doing some simple math... 36,000 x 4 diffrent Parts = 144,000 Durabilty points the Hunting Chest plate should be to be on par with 4 Seperate parts of Composite armor with 36k durability average...

Now thats obsssive to give the Chest plates that much Durabiltiy but a doublenormalDurability would make these suits have a better life span then what they currently do now...

I will accept heavier mind costs on the Chest plate, It was too low in the first place, but giving it a heavier Mind cost and not increasing the durability to match the fact its doing the job of 4 diffrent parts of armor is once again proving that you know nothing about how this game works...

All I ask is that the chest plate witch is the only part that got a higher HAM Cost attached to it, be give some extra 20 or 30,000 Durability points so it will last longer than 3 days of heavy combat...

The rest of the stuff you published today is great... Just have to go hunting for a bunch of Named resouces again for the new Doctor Stuff....

Character Name: Chalvooka WOOKIEE FROM DAY ONE!! still a wookiee even after a small break from SWG!!! A Wookiee from before wookiee armors and ROTW or RTOS!!!!

you just proved my damn point, you put on the equivilent of wookiee hunting armor without needing buffs. chest/helm/pants/arms. and you play a bothan? how is it that a bothan seems to have more strength than a wookiee? besides, i said organics meaning hides not wood.

Decreased Starport times to 5 minutes?!?!

The devs have really messed up now.

Anyone who is happy about the 5 minute starport time really has no vision of the future at all. With 5 minute starport times, why will anyone charter a flight on a player-owned JTL ship? With 5 minute starport times, why will anyone ever use a shuttleport again? What happens when the devs implement their "faction dependent" starport times with the GCW revamp? When this new "faction dependent" starport system is implemented and starport times go back up above 5 minutes, there is going to be a serious backlash from the gamers.

I think the devs just dug themselves a grave with this change. Lets see how long it takes them to fall in it.

This is the best update I've seen EVER, good job guys.

I find it very comforting that the devs are actually interested in fixing things that the players cares about; /lick devs
