Most of the complaints I would have about DE have already been voiced, but I wanted to make one comment:


Someone had said the Devs haven't implemented Destroyer Droids, Battle Droids, or Super Battle Droids because of balance issues, and reached an impasse. how freaking hard is it to make a Destroyer Droid as tough as the highest level Creature? Balancing issues? You can make creatures that battle-hardened, but not droids, because it's a balance issue? If you can't implement battle droids into the game, even if you're only making them as tough as the weakling little soldiers you can use faction points to buy, then you people need to think a little harder!


And another thing in general: when pets are used more than droids in Star Wars, well, as someone else commented, it's just another EverQuest, and I quit EQ a long time ago: it became boring, and after too many STUPID updates that completely destroyed the game, rather than enhance it, I was through with it. PLEASE, SOE don't do this to SWG! I know you enjoyed screwing up EQ, but DON'T do it to Star Wars! (Lucas is capable of doing it to his own creation, he doesn't need your help in this game.)

Something that impacts the Star Wars Galaxy, as we know it, in such ahuge fashion (Droids are an INTRIGAL part to the Star Wars Universe), should NOT ONLY be decided by the profession that it pertains to. Combat Droids should be a OPEN discussion, NOT relagated to JUST DE's. IF this is true....shame on Lucas/SOE. Something like that should be in the Concept/Development Forums for everyone to see and comment on.






His comments are not accurate anyway. Yes the majority of DE's on the forums were oppossed to the DC idea, but so werea lot of non-DE's. And in the end, the reason the dev's gave for not implementing the Droid Commander now was that they realized it was a bad idea to add yet another profession to the game at a time when so many of the existing professions still need serious work.








His comments were lies. Lies or extreme laziness in not actually reading any of the full discussion on the DE board.


The DE's said "Metallic CH is not the answer. That makes droids useless to the majority".


SOE responded with "Oh, yeah, that's right. But we won't give you any certs anyway, since we were working on CH without ASKING YOU ABOUT IT FIRST"


The truth is, most DE's wanted combat droids. Check the polls and the threads. We have wanted a cert system for a very long time. Check the archives.


We wanted them for everyone. But, since the Droid Wrassler 'class' was turned thumbs down VERY LATE in development (since the DE forum wasn't fully informed earlier) then the devs had no replacement for it.


So DE's got components for restoration kits that are totally worthless.


Repair kits that used named resources and aren't worth producing past B level.


And every single droid was nerfed that had armor.

Sorry to hijack the post but the devs refuse to post in the droid engineer forum.


The hybrid droid engineer proposal has been shot down and the devs have said that only the droid commander idea is viable.

Devs please post on the de board what you want to make the droid commander and what you want to put in the different branches and we will give you opinions as to YOUR ideas and suggest alternatives. Don't ask us to come up with our own proposal because you have shot the only 2 that we liked so we want to know what YOUR ideas are.


This is your game. We get that. Talk to us and give us some direction. You will never get what you want from us if you continue to avoid us.

Reminders


Power Droids still require batteries, Never worked


Droid Armour stll not usefull,Broken this release


Cannot color droids during crafting,Broken this release


Personality droids cannot be named, Never Worked.


Droid Toolbelt requires resources that have been removed from the game, Bad Programming.

My Droid Damage Repair Kits are not working properly. When used, they make a 'food-munching' sound(!) as if the droid is eating the Kit. I hope that's not a feature...

To be a proper Droid Engineer you really need master artisan as well.

SO if you do you cant get much skill for combat and therfore you are weedy as hell.
So why not give us these super droids (Please i beg of you, these two hit droid wonders are just sad) but obly for Droid engineers. Seems fair. Have these in a game, a team to take out an enemy base will have the required professions which all benfit from having great combat skills as well, but allow their trusty DE to come to provide bakup with the droidika or super battle droid.
Normal plaers should be able to have one too, but not so powerfull, normal plaeys should be able to have battle droids or probots. I dont thin iter droids such as the R3 should have combat capabilits.

I cant see this not being unfair and very reasbable as a request.


RIC-920 as another form of transport would be nice.

I dont think Barker droids will work at all unless you you do one of the following.

Ban spamming in cities - repeated tells of the same content stopped.
Allow these droids to be placed in non plaer cities to perfom these tasks

OR

Only allow these in your guild city or building

i must say over professions seem to have a far better deal over DE's, the amoun of effort it takes to get DE and the the little re-ward doestn sem fair

I used to sympathize with the devs. It's a huge job trying to balance all the desires of a large diverse comunitee and fit it into the Star Wars universe. I just don't get this one. How could you guys spend all the time developing this "droid invasion" and not see that you were screwing it up? You're using a hotfix to get rid of an unpopular change in experimentation.....how can you do that in response to feedback and in the same publish take the armor from our droids??!! Their only real benefit up to now was being able to tank. Now what the hell can I do with my probot? What are you going to do in publish 8? Add a battery power bar but then decide droids can't use a range attack? Give a pole arm to a protocol droid? Doesn't sound that much more ridiculous than what happened today.


Did you guys actually sit around a table and talk this out or did you hand the project to some dumbass intern? Do your developers work off of spreadsheets full of player statistics or do they LOG IN AND PLAY THE FREAKIN GAME??!!!! And when I say play the game, I mean the DE team should play a DE, not playing a jedi or commando or teras kasi who might have a droid in their datapad to dust off once a week.


I'm not even going to talk about R3 droids having the highest combat potential. Christ what a joke.


None of you are on the EQ2 dev team, right? just double checking.
