Thread: Weekly Roundtable Discussion (Week Ending 2-16-04)

In this very thread (page five), TH wrote, "the change in PvP philosophy is a big issue and the devs are keeping a close eye on it. Im also watching the boards very closely. As it stands, it is a major shift and if it works, it stays. If it doesnt work, then it goes, but that decision will be made slowly and thoughtfully," (emphasis mine).
My apologies. I thought it was from this thread, but it's actually from page five of this thread.
guys guys guys...
TH and the Devs are too busy trying to figure out how to implement the imperial hat to worry about anything else right now... Or was it addeding the ATAT to the game... or working on the "space" expaninsion pack?
They can't be bothered with "old" bugs and complaints. They got new, more important stuff to be working on.

KingSnake. (10 bucks says TH never responeds to the BLEED NERF, the poor dude who lost 5 million in guns, Doctor buff issues, PB bug or anything else hindeing our game play. another 10 bucks says, if he does show up,all he'll say is,"we'er working on it."10bucks say, hetells DE'sthat they'vegot alot of really cool stuff plained, but can't talk about it right now, cause, "we'er working on it..."an finily, 10 bucks says if anyone in here posts about a mining profression, or the Imp hat, He'll respon the them LONG before any other issues brought up. .

Yeah, i'm annoyed.
With the imperial crackdown, i've seen a lot of players say they havent seen much of an imperial presence in their cities. Personally, i've seen a handful of ST's getting gunned down by ONE rifleman/fencer/tka combat template. I did my duty as an imperial and chased him down and (after several failed attempts) lit him on fire.
1. The imperial presence we see now, is that how it should be? A handful of ST's? should we expect more? Should we expect the enormous mass in Kor Vella on Chilastra?
2. The current Pvp "Dodge anything" template, when will defenses no longer stack? Has it already been removed?
3. Scanning. Are there plans to allow imperial players to purchase a scanner and perform our own scans? If not, could we discuss it? Large potential for abuse, I know, but it would add a good element to imperial players.
Right now we have Faction with AT-ST, and faction without AT-ST. Not exactly rebels and imperials. The crackdown was a step in the right direction, but could we see more steps taken to differentiate the two factions, please? I'm sure many players have a ton of ideas on how to make the factions more unique, and fun.
2.) swordsman is worthless in pvp
3.) My charcter is worthless in pvp
4.) thanx for al the time u just wasted me

I'd just like to place a bit of emphasis on the "usability" of the smuggler profession and highlight 2 areas that need work (and in doing so would cut back on at least 1/3 of the questions posted to this [Smuggler] forum:
1. Fill in the slicing skill boxes, especially master. There has got to be a post a day asking about difference between slice 4 and master or what slice %ages are or something along those lines. We can point people to the FAQ all we want but with this many people asking the question regularly it screams for a simple fix that will go a long way.
2. The Molecular Clamp related menus need to be redesigned. The post or two a week to these forums asking why they used clamps but still failed shows to me that there is something in the menu design that needs work. We can tell people they need to "pay attention" or "actually read" all we want but why do we have to. This shouldn't be designed in a way that makes people feel like they're dumb for getting it wrong. Maybe some color coding (make the word "red" in the caption display red) if that's possible in the dialogs, or redo them so that the options are better tailored to the clamp/fan action (read "cut the red wire as indicated" "cut the blue wire anyway"). Also, make the 2nd wire to cut the default dialog action or again make it a lot more obvious that you still have work to do.
Both of the above are minor issues (read: not things that are broken) in the grand scheme of things. They both can be cleaned up "easily" and don't require any balance analysis or design work or anything of the like - but they'd have a very high return on the work done and would show that you're paying attention
My biggest issues right now are:
1. Shield generators, as a wookie these go a long way to keeping me out of the clone center, a revamp or a "Wookie Only" version might be nice.
2. The vehicle disappearing business, I am getting real tired of having to make a camp kit just to be able to travel, I go through more hide and bones and waste more time. There was one character I didn't even want to take scout but Ihad no choice because my swoop wouldn't stay around.
Either allopw us to pull vehicles anywhere or please fix this. I wouldn't mind having to regen the vehicle as long as I was able to do it anywhere.
Thank you for your time.
Not too long ago, I met a guy, younger and a comlete newb at the time but a good guy nonetheless. His MAIN purpose for playing SWG was to become a Jedi. The day I met him, his second day playing, he told me, he wanted to be a Jedi. As much as I shrugged and laughed it off, over the next few months, he proved that he was definitely worthy of not only becoming a Jedi but capable of completing the tasks required.
Through my guidance, his dedication and persistence allowed him to save up enough money to buy his first Holocron and master his first holo profession. He paid quite a bit for the Holocron but nonetheless, earning everything himself made him proud. After he completed his first profession, I told him that he would likely need 3 more Holocrons so once again, based on my guidance, he saved up and purchased 2 more, his fourth was the Christmas Holocron. As much as he was upset about the Holocrons dropping significantly in price, he shrugged it off and continued his journey.
Imagine his shock and dismay when all of a sudden, the game changes and he discovers that the past 4 months of his life has become nothing more than a novelty and a memory. His millions spent on Holocrons now forever lost. Think he'll ever look at the game the same again?
Sigh.
I am livid about the stealth nerf of Droid Compartments to 50/50 OQ/COND vice OQ.
This stealth change in droid compartments has nothing to do with DE's, per se. Name one single item that DE's make where experimentation on this single component has either A) any effect, or B) any effect nearly are dramatic as that of stations.
This is, yet again, a stealth nerf that has literally wiped out just short of 5 RL months of planning on my part since the only spawn of highOQ metal on Tempest was early September 4 days before I started playing the game. Literally 36 million game credits have been put aside by me to build stations as soon as a single high OQ metal spawn occurs on Tempest. FIVE MONTHS OF PLANNING GONE DOWN THE DRAIN INSTANTLY BY A STEALTH NERF.
Hey, Thunderheart, since you've touted that you're playing an architect lately tell me about fairness in this gem. With an otherwise good publish that comes out without the previous earth-shattering problems you have to grieve architects that have spent FIVE MONTHS OF OUR LIVES in anticipation of overcoming a nigh difficult formula to achieve in the first place with this STEALTH NERF.
I think I'm gonna post this in a few places. I was just stunned lastnight.
Does the dev team care about the dedication of their customer crafting base to excel? This calous act changing a FUNDAMENTAL FORMULA of schematics without rhyme or reason or notice does nothing but provve how out of touch the devs truly are with their customer base, in my opinion.
Would appreciate some feedback on this subject.

Are you trying to get people to quit or are you all just **edit**ing morons.
I'm sorry but this is an all-time low, even for SOE. I'm pretty much done with you all now.. Thanks for nothing **edit**.
