What about people who did all their holocron professions and stopped grinding ?

I did my three holocrons and have since done artisan, rifleman, armorsmith, entertainer and swordsman .

Surely those like me should be given credit to as we did do what the game dictated to to do because of holocrons.

You can't reward unlockers and not reward people who didn't grind out another 10 professions when it your bad design that let the silent profession get in game in the first place.

Will credit be given for those professions that were mastered prior to the badge system going into effect that rewarded badges for mastering a profession? Specifically, I mastered Scout, Ranger, and Tailor prior to the badge system going into effect. Will I receive credit for these? (I'm on prof 32 now, BH)

They've covered this previously and the answer is yes, your previous masterings will count. There is a seperate programmingtracker for previously mastered professions other than the badge system.

We will come out with more info, and it will be fair.

But why not stop the grind right now? Just play! You are going to make it soon enough anyway, and the village is very fun!

As for me, JustG, it is the curiosity as to when/what I unlock on. I would love it if, when publish 10 goes live, that the Devs inform us as to the exact process that the pre 10 unlock was and, if it is a matter of professions, informing us as to what our needed professions were.

Also, since y'all have changed it so that it is not our secondary character that gets the FS but the main, I will be doing the village quests anyway. I had been playing since launch and my character wasn't designed/played to become a Jedi.

Damn me for RPing and not just powergaming.

The problem is that I, and many others, have completed everything that we find fun in the PVE game. Holo-grinders especially. So far I've completed 25 professions and played each one long enough to see if I liked it. Jedi is the ultimate grind and I'm looking forward to it.

25 (31 with repeats)professions mastered + 223,500,000 xp(FS grind) = Jedi padawan

In all honesty I'm out of things to do and PVP gets old for me after a few hours. I need something new to do and jedi is something to do. If it is going to take me another 3 months after the 9 I devoted to hologrinding to get padawan I might as well cancel and play Jedi Academy or something.

Not a threat but just the facts of those of us who have been playing since launch. Everything else has been done.

Here's an illustration of what I fear is going to happen to post-9 unlockers:

You are a high school football player who gets a full college scholarship to play football. YAY! So, you decideto bust your butt for four years to excel in every area, both academically and in football, because you have an expectation to get to the NFL after college.

So, after four years, you have proven yourself beyond anyone's doubts and expectations, and you sit to wait for the letter that says you are being drafted into the NFL.

However, when the letter arrives, it gives you a choice: You can relinquish your hard-earned degree to play in the NFL, or you can accept another full scholarship to go back to college for another four years and try to get into the NFL again after that. You can only choose one option here, remember.

You would not be so likely to cheer after reading that letter, would you. The same goes for us who did the hardest work in the game to get our second slot opened as a Jedi. Just because we unlocked after Pub 9, do we deserve less than those who opened before? Just because we devoted out time to grinding Jedi does not mean the path of our main character is only a secondary consideration. It is still a vital part of our gameplay, and we don't want to give that up because the rules were changed on us.

Devs, PLEEEZ tell us that the Post 9 unlockers will have our second slot as the Jedi!

(Funny!

For those who didn't unlock... I sincerely hope that this implies that non-unlock holocredit is not in the form of "Congratulations, you've unlocked the tree, so you can skip the 2-hour quest for which we spent all that time putting new assets into the game, and start grinding 20 hours of FSXP!"

I no longer have dog in this fight. I stopped about halfway through my grind in March (when it became apparent that "# professions to unlock" reports no longer fit the distribution expected from "4+1") and left the game. I came back last week to preserve my 'toon from the upcoming purge, and to see what had changed. Bazaar refreshes measured in seconds, not minutes (awesome!). Theme parks that are no longer bugged, rewards and loot that's worth getting. Droids that can tank! High-end dungeons like the 'vette and the DWB. Truth be told, I've been having a surprisingly good time.

Non-unlocker holocredit could be implemented in several ways. Four come to mind.

1) Unlock one tree per Holocron used, no FS XP granted.

2) Unlock one tree per Holocron used, grant one box (6 x 4 = 32) per profession ground to mastery.

3) Unlock no trees, but banked FS XP is granted for every ground profession as if it had been converted to FS XP instead of used to fill profession boxes towards mastery.

#1 equates to "We've added a whole bunch of new content! Your reward for grinding is that you get to... umm... skip the content by fast-forwarding past the time gate... Oh, and start grinding FS XP. The hologrind is dead, long live the XP grind!"

#3 equates to "Yes, you're time-gated, but none of your grinding time over the past few months was wasted."

#2 is somewhere in between the two extremes: Two time gates (4 unlocked, 2 locked), plus two quests, and the plaer's ground time isn't wasted.

If I had to choose which one I liked, it'd be #3 or #2, in that order. My preference for #3 being that the reward also matches playstyle: Someone who spent all their time [fighting|crafting|entertaining] instead of Hologrinding not only gets a bonus, but they get a bonus they can use, be it extra experimentation points or extra combat abilities.

If I had to bet based on this history of the design decisions that have gone into SWG, I'd bet it's going to be #1, even though your comment above could be read as to imply otherwise. But I hope I'm wrong. I accept that the decision (whatever it is) has already been made and coded in, and I'm still looking forward (albeit only for curiosity's sake - I'm no longer interested in Jedi) to this weekend, when we finally find out.

You can finish BH, which WILL unlock since it is prof 32. Then you'll start at Padawan just like all other unlockers. 1 Week is plenty of time to do BH if you can stand the drudgery that is investigation

To be fair, JustG, the new system might be fun but it will still be a grind. Sure, if you're a combat char you can unlock just by playing. However if you want to do any of the crafting lines grinding is your only choice since crafters do not, due to factories mainly, get any noticeable amount of XP once they master.

Still good work on giving proper credit to previous holo grinding. I am looking forward to content, but I do hope that crafting will be viable in a "non-grind just play the game" fashion. Really.

Factory XP reinstated at master levels perhaps?

we love ya justG but the 10 hologrinders in the guild have all the badges minus two tracks and 3 vette badges....dwb isn't that much fun to us and killing the acklay over and over is becoming boresome hehehe....as of right now the ones that have unlocked pre 10 post 9 are just waiting for pub 10 to hit and helping others in the guild to finish up the last few professions in time so that we can as a group do the padawan trials with abit of roleplay. Main reason why this lot in the guild hasn't unlocked already is cause of the 100+ badges we had acquired hehe. We even have a div in the guild totally devoted to take troops in the guild through the various themeparks and quest items...

A few things i can suggest is host more events like the nym's scavenger hunt

oh and something i was hoping since publish 3................Host events with the heroes of the Universe...like have a dev hop on Leia and Vader have luncheons or host pvp events with these characters or Wedge Antilles and Captain Thrawn. Or use these tools to do roleplaying ie Leia/Vader hosts a faction galla and addresses the troops for review etc...i know this isn't the real place to have these ideas in this thread and assuredly i'll repost it in the development column.

But yeah this FS quest is a huge welcome on my part and many in the guild. Thanks
