Thread: In-Concept Open Discussion (Week Ending 3-8-04)
Just an idea.
HAM targeting is an important issue in combat, one that has seen many flames and complaints. Separating the HAM by weapon type; rifle-mind, carbine-action, pistol-health; just doesn't make sense. How about something like this:
Blast: Health, Action and Mind, the damage divided equally
Energy: Health only
Kinetic: Health only
Restraint: Action only, loss of action pool slows movement speed
Heat: Health and Action, damage split
Cold:Action and Mind, damage split
Acid: Health and Action, damage split
Electricity: Health and Mind, damage split
Stun: Mind only, loss causes unconsiousness but not death
The Teras Kasi ability to target specific HAM pools would remain. They are a special case.
Health is the killing pool. You can only kill someone incapacitated by Health
Action affects attack speed and movement speed.
Mind determines use of special. All specials would drain the Mind pool. Mind would remain unhealable.
Specials like LegShot or HealthShot would be changed to a simple damage increase and a bleed targeted by the damage type. Multiple pool weapons would not be able to bleed.
This is part comment and part question. I love my character, she's great, she's master artisan, master tailor, and master dancer. However, there's only so much i can do before things really start getting boring. I dont' want to change my character however, and I like the server that i'm on and my friends. Every other mmorpg I've played you could have several characters on one server. In fact the only real peeve i have about this game is that i can't have more than one character on my favorite server. I'm just wondering if it is possible that in the future we might see at least ONE extra character per server? Maybe it sounds a bit trivial to some, but i just hate the fact that to be able to fight I either have to 1. Change my character. 2. Change my server and my favorite people to play with or 3. Go get another account just so i can play on the same server. This is just one of the only things i dislike about this game and i'm wondering if it will every be changed.
So i'm just wondering if it's possible that someday we'll be able to have at least 2 characters per server? Hell,on DAoC you could have 8 per server.
"Ok now about the personal starships and the way they fight. It should not be like when we on planets and whether we hit or not is decided on a roll and if the number is higher than the other ships defense it hits and if not it misses.
It should be like when you click the mouse button the weapons fire. This is especially important in battle; whether you hit or not should be decided on how well the person flying the starship can aim on their own. No skill should be required to pilot a personal starship.
The controls would basically be like spacebar makes you rise up off the ground, “w” makes it go forward, “s” makes it slow down, “a” and “d” make it sort of avoid fire like the ship tilts. "
Just no... this is an RPG not a space sim. Make a pilot profession. 4 catergories; Combat,Engineering, Technique andsomething else like Qualifications. COmbat decides how accurate you are, Engineering how well you shields work and Tehcnique is all about dogfighting manuevuers that make you harder to hit. Qualifications just gets you qualified to fly certian classes of ship and such.
There is the matter of experience when aboard these shuttles. I suggest maybe a shooting range for marksman and dummies to practice on for melee fighters. There would be a med center and a lounge (cantina) for all the healing needs. There would be storage and sleeping quarters.

I would love to see a way the merchent can make credits by putting things on consiment. Basicly renting out the vendors to others.
One... Why can the Master Armorsmith NOT make a good armor repair device but the Master Artisan can? It makes more sense that the Master Armorsmith can repair the armor than one who builds buildings and such. The specialist should do a much better job.
Two... I am sure the Master Artisan canme ame the weapon repair device better than the master Weaponsmith as well.
Is any of this being addressed or being thought of addressing in the future?
I was thinking about a similar idea. The static cities on Starsider are ghost towns, unless you go to Theed or Coronet. So many buildings which are not used, why not rent them out to vendors or even as small apartments? Maybe charge a premium for the rent, similar to cost of living in any big city? Place these areas away from the current flea markets that now form outside the starports, with higher costs associated for proximity to the cantinas, starport or shuttleport. Place big incentives for people to begin to inhabit great places like Keren and Tyrena.
Which is another profession idea - Landlord.
Ihave also had similar frustration in travellingacross the entire planet only to find the vendor has no stock.Very Irritating!
