Thread: Weekly Rountdable Discussion (Week Ending 1-25-04)
ThunderHeart, please reevaluate the idea of a Droid Handler class. This does not bring anything new to the game. I agree that Droids need to be introduced and they need to have a viable way to be used. Here are two ideas that come to mind.
1. Add Droid certifications that can be purchased using Faction Points. This brings more people into the GCW which is one of big focus points right now. Granted this may put too much firepower in the hands of a single player...
2. Add the Droid certifications to the Squad Leader Profession. If certifications are not the answer then look to add control levels similar to the Creature Handler. This means a Squad Leader could in fact bring his entire "Unit" to a fight. Although this may not be the original intent of the Squad Leader, the prerequisites make thisthe mostbalancedsolution to your Droid dilemma.

You're losing us, Thunderheart.
Communication from correspondents, devs and you, TH, has slowed to a trickle, if that. So much is still broken that has been broken since launch and all the posts we saw in December from you guys are about new content and balance (and life day).
This guy SWG-Runesabre makes a dozen posts on Sunday, apparently re-doing work that you told us you had well in hand. It's disheartening, to say the least, when all this promise of new communication systems and better information looks to us like people at SWG and SOEstill not communicating and the players sitting here will far less information on what's happening than ever.
Talk to us, man!

The PvP imbalances are being tweaked in the short term and redeveloped over the course of the next few months. Its going to take a bit, but the devs are re-working the system and its going to take some time.

Does this mean it will be possible to hit defencestackers ? and will it disable the 20m knockdown the TKA or master brawler can do? (else a nice animation with their arms and legs growing about 20 m would be nice).
Best Regards

This is totally false. Vehicles piled up evrywhere because of the STORE bug which was introduced by SOE with the vehicles. The same thing occured the previous month with the mounts, but was fixed after a week. I'd say you need to fix whatever is causing the storage bug and remove the autostoral function. I still have vehicle store problems every now and again.

Vehicle auto-store.
Vehicles have to autostore. Without vehicles autostoring, the game environment gets horribly polluted with vehicles. If you were involved in the vehicle tests on TC, youwould have seenwhat happens. In an hour hundreds of vehicles accumulated around starports, cantinas and other places where players gather. The downside is any place there is a high player traffic, a crazy amount of vehicles gathered and then your frame rate chugs because there are so many vehicles on the screen.

If there is any justice, Thunderheart will be severely reprimanded for this post.
There will be no justice. Raph Koster got promoted, what does that tell you?
I've given up on trying to get dev communication. They've decided it's not worth it. They are overworked and simply refuse to talk to us. It is their choice. I am convinced of that. They choose not to communicate with us.
I've perused this entire thread and it's been good. The DE concerns, the ranger organic market etc. I even saw that post about the guy who wanted more characters per server.
All I have to say about this game is this.
I enjoy this game and talk about it all the time. However I have multiple friends who will never touch this game. One won't touch it because he know's its SOE and in his exact words "I know that at some point in time they will screw me". Another won't touch it because it's made by the same people who made everquest. Another is playing FFXI because he says "It's like SWG except it's got content". Finally I have another friend who says everytime he's about to get the game he remembers my complaints and my praise and in his mind my complaints outweigh my praise for the game so he leaves it on the shelf.
This game is a lot of fun but constant grinding, economy ruining holo grinding (yes it is having a horrible effect on the playerbase's community) and total lack of developer communication are slowly turning me very cynical towards this product.
Jedi are supposed to be rare and I hear of PA's with 4 Jedi's. I hear of Jedi's complaining that they can't "pwn" in PvP and solo Krayt dragons. The holocron system in this game is so stupid it's beyond words. So many people are grinding out professions only to dump them that every server has felt the hit in their economy. Good artisans are leaving their professions to grind out other professions they don't want to do. Their vendors are empty and their quality products are gone. Combat professions are leaving combat professions to grind out artisan professions dumping poor quality products on the market in an attempt to get rich before they move on to their next holo profession. Inflation is a big problem because I can have 100K on my character and I still feel broke.

The timetable was changed because the Droid Engineers were very clear in telling me they wanted Droid Engineering and Droid Handling as two seperate professions.
I cant believe what Im reading. DO YOU ACTUALLY READ THE DE FORUM?? Maybe you havent noticed the poll saysvery clearNO the the Droid Handler profession

Ideas from another PAYING customer: "Remember, the customer is always right!"
1. City walls and walkways for PLAYER CITIES! It bad to think that a city crafted by players is open to invasion by creatures, NPCs, or players (faction or whatnot). Coronet City has walls and actual streets and paths to walk on and an existing NPC militia walking around. Shuttling to any Tatooine player city can land you directly on a mob of Dewbacks or Squills. I've went to a city near the Krayt Graveyard and loaded in while fighting an aggressive Red-CON.
***Oh yeah, placing a cities faction affiliation on the PLANET MAP!!! Shuttling out to a player city near the Tusken Fort on Tatooine got me scanned active REBEL by the towns ALL IMP Militia!! I had no idea it was Imp, and I had no intention of being OVERT Rebel either!!! This was before vehicles, so it took me a good half-hour trudging toward Mos Espa due to the fact that they BANNED me from the shuttle!!***
2. A set of PVP rules/guidelines dictating with excruiciating detail who can be fought and any chance of winning. Also, establish rules for fighting at different skill levels. Like, indicate that you are fighting a Tier-one Carbineer or a Tier-three TKA or even Master Commando. These should work so that a Tier-one marksman cannot be forced to die against a Tier-four Bounty Hunter.
3. New weapon designs!!! No more strong weapons that look like Pea-shooters and Paper clips!!! Clothing Customization for the non-tailor clothing wearer!! i.e. color kits, buttons, alterations, etc!!! An effective form of protection for the Non-combat crafting professions (i.e. like hiring a relatively strong NPC to follow you out on a harvester run). Like a CorSec Trooper or a Mos Eisley police officer.
These are just a few ideas.
***And about the DE/DH ordeal....Remember Episode 1? Anakin Skywalker, then just a small boy, was able to craft and command C3PO!!! He didn't need to learn tons of stuff to do so!!! He gathered spare parts, spent a while making it, and actually had a direct involvement with the creation of an artificially intelligent being!!! DE with the ability to control BATTLE DROIDS, Normal players with an equivalent to NON-CH pets...nuff said...
Sethrak Felbovv- Corbantis- FENCER/CARBINEER
Rathos Alavance- Lowca-BH/RANGER
Valkk Armel'ya- Ahazi- MASTER ARTISAN/TAILOR/TKA

The problem is people confuse the term "player city" with "personal PA zone with a shuttle port"
These should be true CITIES not fortified imp/rebel PA zones which is what a vast majority of them are. There is a imp recruiter and a rebel recruiter in coronet. Why because it's a CITY not some rebel/imp PA fortress with a shuttle port. Those are outposts. They are small and only have the most basic of services and facilities.
