Thread: Weekly Rountdable Discussion (Week Ending 1-25-04)
TH I urge you to check the DE boards... there are some very upset people there and multiple threads regarding your assumption that we want DH's (I don't think I've ever heard more than a coulpe of people suggest it).
But, this might be to late... I still hope you step back on the DH thing. I'd rather see weaker droids with a certification system than monster droids only for DH's

Could you drop a hint when we will see the post about the DROID INVASION, please?
Ill be doing it this week. I had to push it off until some of internal discussions were finished. The timetable was changed because the Droid Engineers were very clear in telling me they wanted Droid Engineering and Droid Handling as two seperate professions.
...
Thunderheart,(you ´re surley a nice guy, but) it is unbelievable that you
either a)get something simple so terrible wrong,
or b)are allowed or toldto deliberatly give wrong informormation.
If you were in my company, you would have real trouble right now, to explain something.
Worst thing is, although SOE is trying to do an amazing job, this is only one example of the frustrating and ashaming poor Communication-Skills SOE has developed yet.
Really, I can´t belive it.
I seriously dont need to see the objects in my inventory spinning around in 3D. That MUST put a little demand on our systems and/or the servers... Everytime I open my inventory, or a new window for that matter, I get a huge slow down, untill all the items are displayed.
Could we get an option tho shut off 3D rotation in object screens?
The option is there in tools misc "allow icon rotation" uncheck it
How many Devs hate Droids / Droid Engineers:
( ) all
( ) Droids ? What droids ?
( ) Sorry, don´t understand your question, I´m still trying to learn how to read.
Dear TH,
There seems to be a major lack of effort in keeping SWG in tune with SW with regards to professions.
Droids are a major part of the SW universe - even down to serving drinks on a sail barge! Combat droids however according to the SW universe are banned by the imperial decree due to the battle of naboo and the clone war.
What the DE community would like to see is an increase in the every day use of droids as well a few "combat droids" for those DE who want to bring more to the group hunts than just a semi good marksman with another pet.
The only people who should be able to use Combat Droids is those who can make them.
WeDON'T want to be DROID HANDLERS! there are NO DROID HANDLERS in the SW universe!
Droid Engineer as a crafting profession is not a part of the SWG universe. The only profession that currently relies on Droids is the Bounty Hunters.
1. Vehicles auto-storing when they shouldn't (at least be a few minute delay so you have a chance to run in to check a vendor and get back out before it poofs). There's lots of other misc. vehicle bugs but I figure you are working on them.
2. Lately I've been experiencing freeze-ups every day. No idea what's causing it but it sucks. It's only started happening the last week or so.
3. Overhead map problem - if someone has more than one vendor in their house, the overhead map (ctrl+m) names overlap each other making it impossible to read. There need to be some line breaks in there.
4. Planetwide map problem - it's really hard to read the names of cities on some planets because the yellow text blends right in with the planet color (lok and tatooine for example). We need a black border around the text or a shadow or something so we can read it.
5. Move up/down command for houses
6. Better inventory management - ability to move the order of things around and have them "stick"
7. Entire bazaar needs revamp - sorting issues, searching etc.
8. Smugglers need a bigtime revamp - an entire line that does nothing- underworld; plus there are no benefits at master
9. Cities are too dark! we need a lot more lighting in cities so it doesn't seem like we're in the dark ages
10. We need lamps that actually light up! It's a shame we have to use burning/smoking torches to light our houses
Thunderheart, please point out to the community where this fabled DE community is that supposed to want droid handlers as a separate profession?
We've been waiting for Battle Droids and now you're blaming us DE's for the delays, to create an extra profession that DE's dont want... nice!
SOE clearly is verypowerful in Farce

Do they have to autostore when I've driven 10k out into the middle of &%^*&'in nowhere and gotten off for TEN *@#^*(!*!&^$ING SECONDS topay maintenance onone of my harvesters?
You do realise that you don't have to get off a vehicles to :
Pay Maintenance
Pay Power
Stop / Start
Change Resource
Collect Resource from Hopper
Re-deed
All you need to be off you bike for is when your placeing a harvester..
Same goes for factories ^^
Altho yes, I do agree that it autostoring when you don't want to let it outstore is a pain. You can get off your bike and leave it outside your house for hours and it stays there, Soon as your out hunting and get off to shoot something it autostores in 10 seconds
Lag is not Lag....
Lag is SOE trying to get by with the least amount of hardware per cluster and still allow the game to run. When 25000+ people cap per server and only 100 or so + pets can bring a cluster to a complete drag; something is wrong.
Well, I'm rather unsure whether Thunderheart is still reading this thread but I just found it. I am becoming pretty disheartened and the advent of yet another profession while others are still broken, not working well, or generally in need, just blows me away.
I'm not against a droid handling profession, don't get me wrong about this. It may well be the answer that Droid Engineers need to complete their class, but the time consumption in developing a well balanced class is quite high. We have others that need help or are broken...BEFORE adding another. For instance, when are tailors getting better schematics or fixed palettes? When will tailors get better wookiee clothes and when will we be able to see items that have no graphic in the crafting machine? Are tailors doomed to needing to lobby for schematics that piggy back other professions? If so, its time for tailors to surrender skills, because they aren't a real profession.
The creature handler profession was nerfed severely and in the process bugs were created that have not YET been addressed, such as...low level mounts that show their creature level to be 1(-1) and can not be called. This has never been addressed...and by now most folks who had those kind of pets have released them. But...it was never addressed as I am a diehard who kept the pet. Its STILL there with that creature level.
New bugs have been introduced with disappearing items, old bugs have been brought back. When are these things going to be straightened out? Why are you putting MORE into the game before fixing what is wrong? Why are you ignoring some classes while you expand or nerf others? Fixes for problems shouldn't take 6 months...this has been ongoing since date of release. Your client base, those that are still here, are extraordinarypatient...why not reward that patience? Fix things first...things that are really broken...and then add.
Yes I am a tailor...its why I know what is wrong with tailoring...I've been a tailor since the beginning...I intend to continue to be a tailor

In regards to the overwhelming response from the DE community (and others) opposing the idea of a DH profession, I would recommend checking out the DE fourm, as there are several great droid cert ideas floating around there.
Our correspondent, Drashk has a good idea about assigning point values to different professions, and gaining skills in the various professions gives points to a Droid controlling skill mod.
Another good suggestion is in regards to giving certs to masters of "groups" of professions, so that Masters of crafting professions wouldn't necessarily have certs for the most powerful combat droids.
