Here are my suggestions for the combat balance:
All three stat pools should be made equally important and healable by the medic/doc/CM professions (adding a mind stim). Combat professions should still be more dependent on and able to damage certain stat pools, but making all pools healable via stim would force players to adapt more in combat and not just tailor themselves for sapping mind. Professions with combat skills that don’t affect mind to a great extent would also become more viable and enjoyable. Entertainers should remain as the only professions able to heal mind wounds

I say leave the mind totally to the entertainers. I see your reasoning for this, but I still think it would be bad to take more away from the entertainers. I would even like to see buff times reduced. Maybe now that entertainers have droids they will be willing to actually go out on some missions. With lower buff times people will want to bring doctors with them. Right now there is too much solo'ing. All people do is get buffed, put on their composite, take some missions and go hunting for 3 hours. Nobody needs to group anymore except for some of the new tough theme parks. I don't think this is what the dev's intended.

Thx for you comment
I was not suggesting taking anything away from entertainers. They should remain as the only professions able to heal BF/mind wound and buff mind. My proposal is to add the ability to stim mind in combat in the same manner as action and health, making all three pools just as important.
Just which professions recieve this new stim mind ability is a matter that could require some discussion. I see your point that adding such a new ability to the entertainer professions would be good for getting the entertainers out into the field and that is something we all want.
The problem with this though it would not completly balance the pools in combat and again set mind as a special target. The potential forstims to themind pool in a group of players should be exactly the same as action and health.
I think think that overall game balancing should be the most important factor and such a ability should be given to the medical professions if it is introduced.
I may be wrong, but as I see it the number of CMs/Docs/Medics is also larger then the number of Ents/Dancers/Mucisians. Adding such and ability might increase entertainer numbers but having equal stim potential for Action, Health and Mind will not be achieved.
As long as HAM importance is unbalanced, all professions in the game suffer.

I don't know if there are more healers than entertainers. I personally though, would like to see people want to bring entertainers out in the field with them. So they can heal mind damage along with wounds in camp. It's true that they wouldn't be able to heal in combat, but oh well. I know this doesn't seem very realistic, but I would just like to see more need for groups that have people of every profession.

This goes along with how I feel about other professions as well. In the dungeon areas there should be doors that players can't get past without a smuggler. Maybe there should be some super battle droids that can't be defeated by normal means that a Droid engineer can disable some way. Maybe give CH's a skill to calm a creature in order to prevent it from attacking. This may be needed for some area where the players would have to pass a extremely nasty creature. I think they dev's have already thought of some of this stuff considering the means to crafting Mandolorian armor. This give me hope that the game will only get better in the future.

Bothan species bonuses... Never getattention regarding changebecause there are so few of us compared to other species.
They are really quite useless, +15 camoflauge, +10 cover. Camo is only good for rangers, cover only good for rifleman, and ranger is a pretty usefless proff anyways.Other species like trandoshen, twileck and zabrack have much more useful bonuses, and stats. Twi lecks even have that lekku language, why don't we have something similar with bothan's fur?
As for skill bonuses, give us something perhaps that benefits ranged combat, a foil to the melee bonuses of trandoshens. Please give us something useful.

Like a dodge bonus, or some kind of melee or ranged defense due to our quickness?

Hey TH, if you be out there,

I know this should go in the Starsider forums, but it's getting worse with no end in sight, so I'm bringing it up somewhere I know you guys are paying attention...

The lag on the Dantooine cluster on Starsider is getting to be beyond atrocious. During peak loading, it's not uncommon to have a5 second delay between hitting ENTER on a /tell and actually having it go out. Tonight, when I was logging out, the safe logout countdown was running in 30 second increments (You have 30 seconds... <30 seconds passes>... you have 25 seconds... <30 seconds passes>... you have 20 seconds... and so on). Even at maximum view distance with a high-performance client while on a vehicle, structures materialize a meter or two in front of you, or worse you wind up clipping through them. The contents of my house can take a full minute to load up. People are up and moving out of our and other PCs because of it, guilds cannot get new members to come to Dantooine. It's a situation that needs some Dev Love (and probably Dev Cash in the form of added hardware, too).

I know, I know. I'm betting Dantooine and the other minor planets where Player Cities are allowed were built out as adventure planets with a lower load handling ability becausethey were supposed to only be visited and not lived on. But clearly on Starsider/Dantooine we've outgrown the back-end power we have, and we need an upgrade. Maybe you can help us, before everyone moves out? Much obliged.

Here is some food for thought....

I have seen that SOE is planning on giving veteran players a free luxury yacht when Jump to lightspeed is released. I like this idea and it shows that they are thinking about their veteran players, but I disagree with their definition of veteran player. To me, a veteran player is not one who has been playing for the last six months. My definition of a veteran player is someone who has been playing for a year upon the release of Jump to Lightspeed.

I am interested in seeing what other people think.....

Heres what I think...terrible idea. the game has only been out one year. some of us people that live in other parts of the world didn't get the game the same time as the people that got it on first release. so with that in mind your idea wouldn't work.

My discussion idea has to deal with Yavin IV.

In the books Yavin IV is talked about as having temples continually jutting out of the forest canopy. Even in the movies you can see a couple temples from thier vantage point near the Great Temple. In this game, the area of Yavin IV you can play is 7680 meters to each side of the origin, for a total of a giant square 15.36 kilometers on each side. This has an area of almost 236 square kilometers! In this area, there are FOUR (4) temples. This does not seem to me to follow the books very well. In my opinion, there needs to be at least another 20 or 30 random temples spread about the planet. These do not need to be as large or as interesting as the Temple of the Blue Leaf or the Woolamander Palace, but just temples, having an inside, and maybe a certain species of creature in each one. These would not be POIs, they would just be there, and there should be many of them. If I were on the developement team (which is probably a good thing I'm not :smileytongue I would make this a priority for just one person to work on. Even if one person did it, I'm sure they might be able to pull it off in a few weeks. Even a couple more unnamed temples would be fine, but currently there are only 4 in this huge area.

Heres sum more idears.

Entertainer revamp: Entertainer songs are so bland and uneventful. The reason why so many macro them. Maybe make a note system, certain keys for certain notes. You have to record the song on a separate window. You couldnt just freestyle horrible random notes. You would write a song, record it and play it just like other songs. That way it would incourage bands to form and play their ORIGINAL music. Because what separates one master musician from another? You could do a same kind of system for dance. Ceratain keys are certain moves. Combining keys could result in a beautiful fluorish or a total failure that would result in clumsyness.

Guild Originallity: "All I saw befor the DB message was a big pink bunny rabbit!"-PvP player

Downloadable guild insignias to be printed on armor and above name. Now these could possibly be downloaded from the net. They would have to go through a check in a weeks time to make sure they are appropriate. Maybe guild banners to be held up by squad leaders as they march into battle, with their printed insignia. This would be soo cewl!

Danger Zones: "The air around you grows thinner as you walk into the abyss of this uncharted territory."-onscreen message

Have a certain zone on each planet that would be labeled as a "danger zone" where when entered strange creatures will attack with no mercy. Cloning would result in major armor decay. Rare looted items could be obtained.Getting lost is possible(map doesnt work and your compass starts spining. The point of a place like this is adventure. Whether it be a faction related zone or a creature lair, you would need a very large group to enter. Maybe a huge spinflap hive where there would be literally 30 spinflaps. Maybe they could be harde or sumthin. Another danger zone could be a dark forest thats all foggy and rumor of a large lion like creature has gone round. Many travellers were reported missing in this area. Maybe the lion creature could be that one from episode 2 where theyre fighting it in the arena. A trophy could be brought back of its hide and skull.

I would love adventure like this.

Thats all of my ideas for now

Iziz out!

  • Youre not always gonna find an entertainer to go hunting withyou - let the players heal their own mind damage but leave mind wounds to rest periods in cantinas for the dancers

  • Youre not always gonna find doctors to go along with you - they make better money buffing you and that itself is probably the best money sink ever - its a well stable economy for the doctors

  • I dont want to be dependent on too many professions to make my hunting available. I believe in profession interdependency - i.e. medics to provide stims, weaponsmiths for weapons, armorsmiths for armor, and chefs for food - that rightthere provides a well enough reliance and character interaction

  • I dont want to rely on someone to heal me while in combat - no one should have to - remember the noob days when the medics would tell you "dont run"? I do, and when I didnt and remained faithful to his heals, what happend? *splat....* he was off doing his own thing with anothe MOB- too much reliance causes problem - its not a perfect system and thus should have some avenue of self reliance - now imagine if entertainerscould only heal mind damage - all they mostly want to do is hang out in AFK Cantina

  • Im not sure what the devs intended with solo players, but I do know before this game came out the most popular feature voted on was to be able to solo - things should stay the same - groups are not being killed by solos - its your own social preferences that are killing it - stop blaming the soloists - nobody is saying you cant group

Kind of out of the regular scope of SWG, but "In Concept", right?

I bet you could sell action figures of our avatars with little problem to the player community. For a small fee, you could get an action figure with your current ID settings, equippedclothing/armor, weapons, and the characters name and Bio could show up on the box. Many players would likely be interested in an action figure of their own character, and probably of their friends too.

You could then go on to sell vehicles, creatures, clothes, and other profession accessories etc. from the game.

You could tie it to the cloning centers or ID Tents in game. Get your character all ready, cruise on in, and purchase an action figure. The fee could be billed right to your account.

Why arent there any Nerfs in the game? Fuzzy herd animals? I have seen them in the RTS star wars games. Leia called Han a scruffy looking Nerf-herder in ESB.

So where are the nerfs and why cant we herd them?

how about simple AI for droids/pets? Let our R2 run around the house and scare the cat or durni?

As a former CH id like to have a place i could put my old pets that i cant use so i could still see them.

Former CH here too... I was hoping for a carbonite freezing chamber where I could essentially redeed my pets in some form or another. They would make cool furniture, and could be "re-tamed" at some point in the future (should CH become adesirable prof again). This could either be by defrosting the pet, or having a BE produce a new clone (with 100% success) based on the old pet.

Looking way ahead, this would be rather cool -

Some sort of Publish to go live themed on Episode III next summer. Long way off, I know, but never bad to get some ideas stirring. Sure, the game is centered around A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, but we have content from Ep I & II (droid dekkas, battledroids, super battle droids, etc). Just giving a heads up !

So I was thinking about new loot for the game and I thought it would be nice to add a krayt skeleton as loot. Not for crafting or anything but for decoration. We can already get the skull from Darklighter, but it would be cool if we could randomly collect krayt skeletal pieces as loot drops from random NPCs on Tat. To make them more rare and harder to obtain, a system could be in place where you cant assemble and place the skeleton until you have collected all the pieces. So you might get Krayt Vertebra 1 of 12, but you need the other 11 to complete it. I think a lot of people would enjoy this kind of loot collecting. Or maybe do a kimo skeleton, since Tat seems to have enough content already.

In general I wish there were more random weird loot drops, like stuff to decorate the house with.
