No. Grinding a prof now will gain you nothing. If you have 20+ profs under you belt, what I would do is get your glowy status to get you into the village right away. You will still get the xp when you train fs boxes from your holos. The grouping is for people who:
A.) Are not Glowy
AND
B.) Have holo-grinded many professions
The system is working stand alone under the glowy system now. The grouping is to filter old-system grinders into the new system.
If you have ground out 30 profs, you do not need to be glowy to get in. You will be in one of the groups.

EVERYONE(OR AT LEAST EVERYONE WHO IS WONDERING IF YOU ONLY HAVE GLOWY, WHEN YOU WILL BE VISITED):
I am glowy, only mastered 3 profs, and the old man just visited me.Please noteI was glowy when P10 was released. Iwas fighting jantas, he spawned and ran on top of me. ( I acutally died 
forgot to heal i was so stunned. I used my ring though lol). So if you're glowy when P10 started at least, not sure about the others, expect a visit from gramps any time.

Yep, the group thing TH spoke about was just more of the usual BS.
Group 4 ppl get visited before those who automatically qualify.
There will be alot of angry posts about this when ppl discover the 1-3 days to get a visit was alie also.

LOL IT stinks, a person who has not unlocked and did 1 holo are getting visits 
PEople who unlocked have seen no visits except for a very few...
Then again we were not lie too

Well, there are several accounts on this thread and galaxy forums that tell that the system is working the way it was intended. (at least for most people) People who glow, and people who have gotten a certain amount of profs are being visited at random as stated by TH. For those who havent been visited... I would try doing missions, traveling, and logging out for a while. I logged out to go to school, and when I logged back in several hours later the Old Man appeared while I was buffing myself.
Now, has anyone gotten a visit from the 2 sith? :-P

newst rumor (!) is that they are randomly visiting ppl now, but the sith spawn will be very rare and take long
maybe someone can confirm this

Well, if they really DID increase the number of professions needed to unlock to EIGHT, AND are using this to determine credit, then I feel like I've been ripped off having ground out three of my four holocron professions.
I'll have to wait and see what I get, but I'll be extremely upset if I have to wait until group five AND will have to do FIVE trees of force sensitive skills at OUTRAGEOUSLY OVERINFLATED conversion rates.
I'll also be EXTREMEMLY upset that when my account came up for renewal, SoE AUTOMATICALLY renewed for ONE-YEAR. I'm stuck paying for this game when it's turned into just one long, mindless, "gated" grind-fest.
I'd also like to mention that I was someone who "played the game". I mostly stuck to professions that I chose to play. I did EVERY dungeon/themepark (including both imperial and rebel, light and dark jedi, Valarian and Jabba) as well as nearly every badge (except for the last imperial monthly Act since I'm a rebel Colonel now, the professions that I didn't finish, the race tracks and one of six Corvette badges), and tried to just play the game as it was intended rather than get caught up in the mindless holo-grind.
I DID end up doing three holo professions at the last minute due to growing concerns that something like this would be instituted...Changes to make it take YEARS to obtain what everyone else on the server was grinding day and night to obtain before Publish 10 went live.
Should this come to pass, I would STRONGLY suggest that you work 24/7 on Jump to Lightspeed. You are going to have the majority of your players HIGHLY irritated by these "changes". I for one will probably end up canceling if JTL is delayed or disappoints. I may also start a credit dispute given the fact that I didn't get a chance to chose my method of payment (ie. Going monthly due to the more and more unstable nature of this game).

Couplequestions...
1) If I mastered 32 proffesions, must I visit the POI's that others must go to in order to be visited by old man, or does the 32 proffesions guarentee a visit from him?
2) Does the old man spawn totally at random (assuming you meet the requirements for the ol fart to visit you:smileyhappy? Is there a cap on visits between server downs for visits?

i was sitting at the shuttleport waiting for a shuttle when i noticed a white dot trying to come around the shuttle port. i went around to see what it was and there he was Trunnks lawful i got something to disscuss with you. i told him i felt the force he gave me my crystal and ran away now i have to wait for these sith to randomly attack me to get the data pad for the next part.

I think those who went threw all their holos but their silent are getting screwed. I have 9 proffs left and I am pissed that nothing is being credited to me. I have been working nosop on grinidn proffesions since January. The way u let some people do 6 proffs then unlock, then said hey there are alot of Jedi, lets increase the amount of proffs to unlock is rediculous. Then those who did mass proffesions and actually opened holos which took alot of time to find or a lot of credits to find got robbed. I opened all my holos that i aquired till it went silent. Then grinded like crazy and have nothing to show for it. A few of my friends did 4 proffesions, not 1 a holo and have same sensitivity to me. Plus I am no further along in the trails than anyone else. I think those who have actually opened all their holos and completed them and done should be granted something. Please let me know what is to b done with this. I am ready to quit this game because this is freaking nuts. You give holos at Christamas, then they turn out to b no good in less than a year because you change the way things are done. I don't want to start this if u are going to change it again when to many people unlock. Please email me and let me know if i should even bother playing anymore.
