I find this statement to be unabashedly degrading and insulting in the most deragatory manner. Did this simpleton even pause to think that there may be "minors" out there with greater mental faculties than the average 1337 infested stereotype? Of course not. Just because you're bitter because, OH NO, you missed out on 3 weeks of BETA TESTING (which isn't fun and games, but rather, a good deal of work and commitment. No, lets make all the Fan Fest attendees scapegoats in our great whining war. Maybe if we squeal long enough, the Devs will take pity on our poor, spoiled souls and shower us with Beta accounts, that famous nectar of the gods.

I, am 17. I missed the cutoff by a mere 4 months. Did I bemoan my fate in badly grammared public ventings of outrage? No, I calmly and rationally petitioned the Devs, and in part of my and others' hard work, we managed to convince the Developers that, as Fan Fest attendees, we should be entitled to that which we were guarunteed in.

I flew out to the Fan Fest because, well, I wanted to go to the Fan Fest, it's that simple. I knew every bit of what I was getting into, and the Devs' dangling of the Beta carrot was merely another reason to go, not my driving want. I, personally, consider myself to have a good code of honor, I usually hold back from arguments such as this one but really, someone has to draw the line. Suggesting that I won't follow the NDA because of my age is nothing more than discrimination, sir, and I won't stand for it. I will be an honest and dedicated tester, I'll do whatever the Devs ask unflaggingly, I won't gripe or mope about the inherent unfairness because I believe myself to be a good choice, and I'm thoroughly surprised and quite happy to find that the Devs will actually let me participate, despite the risk for them. It shows that sort of support for their veteran customers that you all find so non-existent. You've fooled yourself into thinking that you'll get to play the game for free during Beta, rather than battling glitches and crash errors to hunt down that last elusive problem.

At any rate, I have not recieved my CD key yet, though I refresh my mail pretty much every 5 minutes. Can't wait until I get it.

Actually your wrong. I have been one of the more vocal defenders of this game and its flaws. The fact is beta is meant to work out the flaws and as many bugs as possible. Clearly seeing the mentality of some of the Fan fest peopleshows playing the game is more important then testing the game.

As does the mentality of some of the so-called veterans who take such pleasure in complaining about this whole issue. Please, you don't seriously mean to sit there and have the sheer audacity to suggest that while some of the people who signed up for Fan Fest did so only just to 'play the game early' and aren't serious about testing, that there's not far, far more of the crew who are whining and complaining that they're not being allowed in yet who are of *EXACTLY* the same mindset who truly care nothing about serious testing? Give me a break....you'd have better luck trying to sell a Snoop Dogg Country & Western CD than getting people to buy that malarkey.

Talon's Right think about it, I ve been a beta Tester for UPS Software and the first thing they tell everyone is throw away any complaints or likes about the software just go into the realm with a clean slate and use the program till it breaks then note and move on. As soon as someone starts to form opinions either way on the spectrum they can truely beta test anything from a pencil sharper to a Nucular Missle Silo

Great Post -

Although I feel we should have all got it at the same time. It doesnt seem fair for one group of people to be ahead of another - Nor is it professional.

YOU SHOULD be there right now and NOT CLICKING REFRESH.

Honestly, even if I was the first one accepted I wouldnt feel right untill my fellow Fan fest attendee players also had the advantage. I dont find the logic in how this is being done and Im already frying on it.

If I am accepted anytime soon I will refuse to log in untill I see that everyone that was promised a chance is delivered that chance equally to everyone else.

If it is hand picked it should have been done a long time ago.

SO what... They are hand picking it one by one and sending it out like that. Dont believe anything these guys tell you. I want what was promised - IT ISNT A BAG OF CANDY. It is a Software - THIS IS A MEDIA Giant - not a candy store. There is a big difference here buddy.

Im not gonna sit here and Bend over. If you want to do that thats fine.

Show me the MONEY right now or you get my Fist. Its brutal reality. IF they dont want to accept me then they better have a good reason. If they Delay me they better have a good reason.

Hand picked is no excuse. Every single person should have got it at the same time. The servers should be able to handle it - otherwise they should make it more clear then what we have.

Thank you...

Interesting - I am adevelopment manager for a publicly traded fortune 500 company that deals directly in internet media and technologies, and have been writting code sinceyou were inmiddle school, so please forgive me if i'm not impressed by your title of "Supervisor and Software Development Student". If any of my empolyees (especially one in a supervisory/managment role) held the attitude that you put forth, i would have them out the door so fast, their heads would spin.

Firstly, was not comparing the software to a bag of candy - I was comparing YOU to a child throwing a tantrum because they can't get what they want the very second they want it.

Second, there are things that MUST be tracked to protect SOE's intelectual property. If you were at Fan Fest, you WILL get an invite, so go take your meds, and maybe a nap before that vein in your head gets any bigger.

Did your 'mass mails' have to keep track of what beta number was issued to what person, while making sure that number was not issued to someone else, and that it's valid, and it's bound to a specific account? If so, i tip my hat at your efficiency, because i HAVE done this in the past for beta releases of our software - and it was not a simple "Type out a form, and let it merge on the way out".

I'm leaving this thread now, so that it may have some possibility of returning to its intended topic. Besides, i feel i have nothing more to say to you, you obviously hold yourself on a pedistal much higher than you should actually be standing. - Someday soon, someone will knock you off.

Also fan fest registrants please be patient and do not email us until friday if you have not received your invite, we are having to manually send the invites to you so its going to take some time And for the rest of you fan fest attendees are only getting invites now but that does not mean that there will not be thousands of other testers admitted in the near future

Im sending mine right now cuz I havent recieved mine yet.
It should not take you more then 1 day to get this done. If it is delayed I wont be happy. There were a whole lot of people at Fan Fest but it cant be that hard. Its not like I really am DROOLING over beta testing. I just think I would be a good tester since I have been playing/paying into the RPG world for SoE for over 4 years. Whe the heck are these guys talking about VETZ. I was grinding on the monitor 4 years ago on EQ and 8 years ago on Descent 1-2 and then 3. Man wassup with these morons crying about BETA. There is notthing fun about testing Games. ITS LIKE A JOB AND HAS to be DONE right. Wont be a whole lot of content either.
I am pushing this because Its just the fact of how things should be done. Accurate and correct. IF this isnt the case you will hear some moans from me for sure.

If you have such a great idea on how to expidite the process of them sending out the beta emails, do us all a HUGE favor. Call SOE, and prolaim that you would like a meeting with their Technology Support department. Go SELL them your super email idea, save us the pain of looking at your posts, mmmkay?

On that note Ill go get some dinner and Go play the Regular Star wars - Since no one has to wait for that - Oww but ummm half the server has to wait for that too since the Village is going in Astronimical Phases. Have you guys lost it man?

Just a random whining post here (there are tons of examples to choose from in this thread) ...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

ashame [sic] it was decided who would be first for beta mailings by living either near enough or enough money to go to a fan fest <sighs> Such is the way of how things work in this world anyway.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, this is PRECISELY how the world works.

To all you whiners... listen to yourselves. "Wah Wah Wah, I didn't get picked to go very first in line ... oh lament SOEI hate you ... blah blah blah." I ask you, can everyone be first ? Nuh,uh. Let me guess ... you 'deserve' it. You 'deserve' it because you have played this game for so and so amount of time. Guess what : you 'deserve' nothing more that what you agreed to in the original terms when you signed up for the game. YOU CHOSE TO PAY FOR AND PLAY THE GAME ! You're not paying to be in beta first with your standard subscription. Is yours a dollar more per month ? Am Inot aware of the 'special deal'subscription rate ? You're not paying for anything except playing the base game. The game is, in and of itself, the only reward you are entitled to. Nothing more.

It was said long ago that the FanFest attendees will be the first invited into the JTLS beta. Where is the suprise in that ? Is this some new development ? Oh, I think not. In essence, along with the entitlement to participate in FanFest, the FanFest attendees purchased the right to get into the beta a little bit early. Oh, you didn't have enough money, time, whatever to go ? Well again, that's too bad.You make your own choices in life. I do not have a Mercedes Benz ... yet I have been driving cars since I was allowed to by law. Do I stand in front of my Mercedes dealership and cry that I have been an automotive consumer for x number of years, therefore I deserve a car right here and now ? Ridiculous.

Do you really thing SOE 'hates YOU' because they want to start the beta with a relatively small number, then incrementally invite more participants later ... and one of these first ones happens to not be you ? Do you honestly think they do not appreciate your business, and, in fact, spit on the ground you walk simply because they chose a group (who actually made the choice themselves, mind you) before you ? Mind you, this does not mean they have not and will not choose you at all ... just that you were not chosen first. Again I say ... ridiculous.

The beta invitation is not an entitlement. It is an 'extra' or a 'perk' that you may or may not get.Ifyou get in beta early, good for you. If you do not, well, welcome to average, enjoy your stay. You have been cheated of absolutely nothing if you never play the game until the day of release.

Basically, what I am saying is SHUT UP.
