i just posted this in the GCW zone buts its ideas so ill copy it in here...........
While browsing the forums and reading about others servers ive realised just how ill thought out the whole GCW war is. I dont want to come off as negative because i love the game and ill probably be a subscriber till the end. I just think there wasnt alot of thought into the sides and how the war was looked at in the films.
I've noticed that its the little things in the game the game just arent right.
Firstly Rebel missions paying you money, this is totally wrong do you think Luke or Leia took a wage or when Luke and Hanwent on partol on there tauntun's on hoththey were paid 1000 credits for doing that run? The Rebel Alliance is a rag tag army they're in it because its the right thing to do not to draw a wage not to make money. Simply stop Rebel recruiters paying credits for missions. Now this idea is probably to late to help with the balancing of sides with alot of servers awash with cash, but it might help to even the sides if people want cash they go to the empire if they want in for the good fight but no pay they go to the rebels.
Secondly The Empire is highly oppresive and in the timeline it runs everything do you think they would let known rebels sell on the bazaar or open shops and sell stuff, no of course not, there should be random searches along with this crackdown on peoples shops /houses and the Empire if finding rebel's should have the power to confiscate all items at the shop. The empire should monitor all items placed on the bazaar and there should be a chance of ur items being confiscated if you as a rebel place some to be sold.
thirdly Galactic Bank accounts again would the Empire allow rebels to keep a nice stash of credits in the main bank on Corellia...of course not ..if u join the rebels the empire should close down ur bank account and take any credits. There could be options for rebels to make fake accounts etc but again there would be the risk that the empire would discover and confiscate any credits.
Alot of rebels at the moment would probably hate the ideas above for fear of losing their credit hoardes and precious items, but i think anyone who wants realisim who wants the game to accurately portray the GCW the little things ideas like above need to me implemented if they can.
Its just not in keeping that rebels get the same rights and privelleges as Imperials becasue quite simply the empire wouldnt allow it. And I myself am a rebel and its just to easy at the moment.
Come on DEVS make it tougher to survive as a rebel, make it so i cant have the rule of the roost in every city make it so rebels have to look over there shoulders when they enter an imperial controlled city, make it a struggle against over whelming odds.
I believe AT ST's were a step in the right direction, the empire should have all the advantages, now give them more.

Thank you.
I see these threads going a long way to helping flesh-out the SWG experience. While the developers have a "vision" of what SWG is. The players have an "expectation" of what SWG should be. Hopefully this will enable the vision and expectation to become closer.
One thing I would like to note. Before, when we had the SWG Discussion forum, we could in some way, provide general suggestions, for tweaks, polishes, game mechanics to make the game... well less tedious. Or simply otherwise provide a general input for ideas for the game.
With that forums removal, we have lost a place we can continue to do this. In it's absence, and since this is a"In Concept" forum, I would like to request a sticky, "General Suggestions" thread. You could remind us that there are specific areas to comment about proposed alterations to the SWG experience. But, for those generic suggests or requests, they could post them in one thread.
I believe that will help get those messages heard and hopefully acted upon.
Respectfully,
Daisame

After re-reading your intial post, it seems this thread is where you mean us to put general ideas.
So here are a few.
- Dodge. Right now Doge hurts you when you are fleeing. It makes you take a step the the side which in effect stops you and allows your persuer to close. When moving, dodge needs to be a dive roll or duck, or other animation that will not hinder your movement and allow your enemy to close.
- Buff Interface: The various buff icons need to be color coded at least to what groups of stats they are buffing. The also need to allow you to show the countdown timers without having to "mouse-over" them. We should be able to click on a buff and "cancel" it (unless it is a food or spice buff which is sort of a tradeoff in it working and how long it lasts).
- Travel Ticketing: I find travel ticketing very annoying. I often buy a ticket and then change my mind and go elsewhere. Now I have this sometimes expensive ticket sitting in my inventory taking up space. I would like tickets to go into the databad (e-ticketing) and also allow us to sell them back to the Galactic Travel Commision for a refund.
- Crates and Stacking: Anything with the same serial should allow us to Stack it. If it would be more applicable, it should stack and create a factory crate. This would save on inventory space and allow us to re-stack items and make better use of our inventory space and conveivable, your database space. In either case, crates should allow us to recombine if we can split the crate.
- Travel wait times: I don't want instant travel, even as much as it would be handy. In the interest of some level of realism, the wait is welcome. However, waiting up to 10 minutes for the shuttle can be tiresome. I know we can set an alarm and come back later, but in some cases, we have nothing we would rather do but get to our destination. I would like to shorten the wait times to 5-6 minutes at a maximum. I figure with a 2 min shuttle availability (a number I am guessing at) and up to 5 or 6 min wait time, the same function will be there with less "dead" time.
- Travel timers needed: We have wonderfully detaild and rich graphics in the world. Why not turn some of that into an interacive or dynamic affair. Like a timer display outside and inside the starport with the time until the next shuttle is set to arrive and depart. It would add a lot of immersiveness and be a great way to see when the next shuttle is due rather than hunt for the ticket droid in an often crowded starport. Plus, we could wait in the waiting area, as opposed to out where the shuttle lands. A nice touch I think.
- Bazaar and the Yellow pages: The bazaar is great. However, we need to put the emphasis back on the player merchant. But it is simply impracticle to have to fly all over the galaxy, visit the thousands of vendors in hundreds of cities often to be met my a vendor that is unstocked. Encourage competitive pricing and help fight inflation by having a system by which ALL shops items are listed centrally with all costs and associated information. We can shop centrally, a-la-internet, and be able to find the things we need at a reasonable price.
- Bazaar and Vendor Listings: Please allow the formatof the bazaar and vendor listings to remain saved. Column withs, etc. Where items are listed in stacks, (resources and crates) please add a column for "cost per unit". This will help the customer better judge the value of the item they wish to purchase. Likewise, give the seller the ability to enter prices per unit and then display the appropriate total cost on the item.
I am sure I will think of some others and there are some that I have forgotten. There are also those that I know are in the works. Thank you for eventually coming up with a way to raise and lower items in a house. =)
I hope you are able to act on at least some of these suggestions. Even better, hopefully these are are already in the planning stages. =)
Thanks and good day,

first of all i would like to see mounts and vehicles able to carry 2 people, PC or NPC, you know for those escort missions.
also i woul dlove to see more items that are cool looking, such as decorations for houses, IE: small models/statues of the space crafts in the star wars movies, x-wing, tie fighters, star destroyers.
and a idea for the droid invasion, i think it would be cool to see battle droids that look like humanoid's but are robotic looking.
i think that the rebels should have some clothing with REB insignia on it, i know i know... reb crack down.. bla bla bla... we still should beable to show our colors.
i mean come on its not like the imps cant see our purple name and tag.

i personally would think it would be cool to see different seaons, like winter, fall, maybe have someplanets that have some of the seasons, but however you do it, i'd like to see some seasons.

a couple of thoughts about the space expansion...it would be interesting if the current star/shuttle port system was phased out and, in order to get from planet to planet, you HAD to find a player pilot with a ship who was willing to take you. or at least move the shuttle/star time from 10 mins to 30 or an hour.
also, when your ship goes down, it would be awesome if, instead of the ship just exploding and the character dying, if the ship crashed into the nearest planet. there could be a couple of remote "crash zones" on every planet, where you are then stuck and have to fend for yourself. seeing a screenshot of a TIE fighter pilot that had a terrain negotiation mod made me think of this.
looking forward to it.

I am BEGGING you! Please add some content to the Politician profession! It is a total skill point sink!
Since there arent very many of us, we are being TOTALLY ignored. I have 60 some odd skill points invested in Politician.
There is NO benefit to getting Master Politician (just more skill points to waste)

I've been thinking of this for sometime..
The deserted city spaces all over the Galaxy, and how to make them actually used by players.
The solution.
Allow Players to rent shops in the existing empty buildings in cities such as Bestine, Theed, Coronet etc.
This could be done fromsome kind of newterminal that lists empty buildings, rent etc, and would need to be restricted to Master Armoursmiths, Weaponsmiths etc etc the rent should also reflect the funds a master character would have available to discourage new players renting something and no being able to actually use the space productively.
The New terminals would also have to auction rather than buy outright the 'shop' and allow the player to rent for at
least 3-6 months, the currentrenter also having first option in re-upping his occupancy of the shop.
Shop windows should be added to these buildings, which should be easy enough. A square window shape next to the door with a blank (possibly white?) background, which the owner can walk through to drop his wares and thus make them visible to passers by.Bigger shops could have two windows.
Think what difference this would make to deserted backstreets and alleys in the game. A shopping street, well established Artisans being able to display their wares, a steady influx of customers to their favourite shops. etc
This will also have the added benefit of making the completely empty cities (Wayfar on tatooine for example) become busier as Artisans bid for shop space (there is only a finite amount of course)
Hotels also need some kind of purpose, presently they have none are always deserted.
Thanks,

Just wanted to drop a few of idea's :
1. With the lot and maintance cost of House's the storage capacity should be different as well. The small and
medium hold same amount yet lot size and maintance cost is doubled. Why not double staorage capacity as
well.
2. Race specific rewards from NPC/Theme's.
For example: Jabba Quest you get a piece of Armor, well Wookie's don't wear armor
Rebel Theme Park quest you get Jumpsuits once again Wookie's can't use
3. Customazation's fade to quick and should last longer.
4. Add skill mid ways up all crafting professions to manually crate/box items. The product would be different
lvls but same type and when stored would be 1/2 of normal quantity of items in crate/box
5. Wookies do get extra HAM points for lack of armor but this still does not make up for not having armor.
Maybe give them a to-hit ratting of some sort

I've had a couple of ideas come to me this last week. I think these would improve the overall gameplay of SWG.
1. Buy Shuttle Tickets for connecting shuttles in one purchase.
---If you are traveling with an airline company you tell them only your final destination, then they give you a pack of tickets for wherever it is that you must connect to a different flight and it is your responsibility to do so. I can't tell you how many times I have missed a shuttle since I had to go and buy a ticket. Im sure I'm not the only one who ever misses the shuttle by only seconds from buying a ticket and then having to wait 10 minutes. If only I could buy all my tickets at once, then my travel times would be reduced and more time will be allowed for gameplay.
2. Be able to create waypoints coordinates
---Often I am the recipient of coordinates to locations such as vendors, friends and more. Although I can navigate just fine without a waypoint, it is far easier for me just to drive to the huge blue light. This is something that is not really that important yet it would be a nice feature to have.

I would like to see an ingame time equal to all regardless of the regular timezone, swatch has created internet time as seen on this link
http://www.swatch.com/fs_index.php?haupt=itime
This would seriously simplify the organizing of events hunts in large guilds with players from all over the globe.

Because I haven't heard any request about it as of yet - I'd like to state my plea-
Would it be at all possible to list the combathit-location we either hit or are hit?
It would most certainly help by knowing WHERE I got hit - to possibly improve that locations' armor - as well as to let me know if I need to get something for that particular location.
