Incidentally, aside from all of the interesting bugs mentioned above...

NERF THE AUCTION CHANNEL!

I don't want to drag Coronet and Theed along with me everywhere I go.

I'd rather have my bandwidth, thanks.

Please give us the option to remove the auction tab. I am now having to hide it behind my radar. I dont want it on there.

I thought it was a pretty important question. I mean I like the idea of having the ability to talk to friends on other servers and all. And I wouldn't want to be using it and all ofs suddon on dayhave it stealth nerfed away because it wasn't intended and I didn't know not to use it. Hey, maybe Thunderheart just didn't see my post, it was a bit small, so I'll make it a little bigger, then maybe there'll be some responce.

WASCROSS SERVER CHAT INTENDED!?!

Thanks for the responce.

After doing a LOT of testing I can tell you Jedi took a serious reduction in resistacne to damage. I wish they would either own up and say it is a bug or a change. Why lie when everyone sees the difference. I sopke to a guy who playes his Jedi nearly 24/7 and he is getting owned.

Sure it can, Oboal got 314 yesterday.

Its entirely possible and let me say that an AV21 doesnt really have that much of a difference in speed vs a swoop. My friend tried the track with an AV 21 several timesand his best was only 336.

My best time with a swoop was 324. Just cut corners, figure it out, its possible keep trying.,

Thunderheart, please please please read this response, it's a very important issuefor the chat system as a whole.

Thunderheart wrote:

*** 9.1 Update Notes ***New Chat Channels: Two new chat channels have been added to the chat system. There is an Auction channel and a Planet channel. Players are encouraged to trade goods and services galaxy wide in the Auction Channel. Planet Channels will be available to players on a chat tab when they arrive on any planet. Players can use these channels to find groups, medics, entertainers, find services, coordinate events and find all types of help in real time chat.

  • Chat: Chat channels that were active before logging out will be auto-joined when the client reconnects.

    • For our server at least, this is a pretty big issue; prior to publish 9.1 I ran a chat channel called the "IAC," which stood for "Imperial Alliance Chat." The way that I ran this channel was that each morning I'd wake up early (Pacific time), create the channel as flagged private and unmoderated so that you could only join if you had an invite, and manually went around gathering the names of all the Imperial guild leaders on Corbantis so that I could each morning give over 250 Imperial guild leaders a manual-invite to a private channel. (I accomplished this by using /chat macros, like /chat create, /chat invite, etc.)

When I read about the chat server changes, I was somewhat apprehensive about the auto-rejoining of the channel feature because I knew that each morning that the server was restarted, the IAC channel I created was destroyed and had to be re-created after the server came up. But I figured it'd be worth it to see how the chat system handles it.

Well, after the mini-publish, here's what happens: the chat channel that I normally would log in and create, one that was a private chat channel, restricted to Imperial guild leaders on Corbantis, is now being auto-created in the morning by whomever logs in first -- and it's being created as a public chat channel, basically rendering the entire concept of a private or "invite-only" chat channel a moot point.

If you look at the chat channel listings, you'll see not only a much larger list of publicly accessibly chat channels, but I'm guessing a vast majority of them were invite-only prior to mini-publish 9.1; but now, because of the fact that unless the channel creator is the first person to log in every day after the server comes up, the chat channels are public and no longer secure for faction-related discussions.

Is this change intended? Are we no longer to be able to start private, invite-only chat channels that we can use for GCW-related purposes?

Please remove the auction channel and allow merchants to have auctions on the bazaar with no cap. This will reduce the spam on the chat channels and also reduce people's reliance on the trade forums. Since not everyone uses the forums, this should increase the availability of auctioned items to the general populace, good for both the buyers and sellers.

That is an absolutely brilliant idea!

After the inital evening of fun and high jinks after this patch with no communication working other than spatial chat, it appears to all be working again. However, last night on Dantooine (Chimaera) oddly no random mobs were spawning at all. I drove 10km without seeing a single creature!

What's really annoying is that even before the patch I would regularly join the server only to find guild chat, group chat and direct messaging not working. Either that or on many an occasion since patch 9, come 6pm and guild chat slows to a crawl, taking anything from 2-5 minutes to actually show what you typed! It was bad in the first place and this patch has made it worse :/

Where is all the lag coming from? From conversations with guild members it's 10 times worse since patch 9.

As many have said before me here, the Auction channel is a great idea badly implemented. It's just a damn great chat channel with no incentive to only post about auctions, goods, etc etc. It's spammed to kingdom come already. There needs to be some control there, such as only being able to post every minute or two, or having to be a merchant or something.

I think adding the /auction command will make it worse too as people will be able able to spam it in the background with a macro.

By the way, to those having warping problems when dismounting, try using this macro, it does help:

      /yawn;

      /pause 1;

      /dismount

The tab cannot be deleted. The Auction channel depends on the server side so that it can connect people from all over a planet (whichare several servers each).

Soon as I read that I tried to 1-star you lol. Didn't know devs were immune to that.

Bad idea. Bad idea. Let me get rid of the auction tab precious, we hatesss it, it burns, it burns!

      Greetings.

Im a long time player, long time forum lurker and generally immune to most of the drama's with SWG.

However this latest patch really does push my buttons (or in this case Tabs) when I am now force spam/lagged by this obnoxious Auction Channel!.

Lets look at this with some really basic common sense. Even when Im not IN the Auction channel, all that spam/trash is still gushing down my Internet connection in the background. I'd guess that for me it seems like a 20-40% performance hit, making nearly unplayable that which only a few days before was MORE than acceptable.

Correct me if I am wrong but I didnt think stealing my Internet bandwidth and rendering the game near unplayable (at times) is covered by the Terms & Conditions.

Please let me REMOVE THE SPAMMING AUCTION TAB if I so choose.

      Best Regards.

      Kal
