TH,
Firstly, I hope you get to actually read this because it appears to be a full time job just reading the responses on this thread.
I'm reading them all and sharing thesentiments with the team.

Thank you, but Haden and Gary should be reading these too. I'm willing to bet that a largemajority of the community feels that Combat Balance is the #1 "game breaking" issue.Every Combat professionhas been "on hold" pending it. (some already revamped for it) Crafting has been "on hold" pending it. It's been acknowledged by the Design team, that Combat Balance is the most important issue to the game, and the community has been counting on it coming soon.
Instead, it's continually placed on the backburner. First it was Player Cities, then it was Droid Engineer, then it was Image Design, then it was Jedi, but Combat Balance was supposed to come out with Publish 10, but then it was disconnected and suspended indefinitely and now it's pushed to far future, maybe next year. Before each of these "revamps", it was promised to the community that Combat Balance was next.
What we have here on the surface is "just another disappointing news to the community" issue. But that's just the surface. Underneath, we need to look at the long history of this issue, and the communication relationship between Designers and Players. Players say "this is game breaking", Designers say "Ok, we agree" but then Designers push it to secondary to everything else on the agenda, meanwhile communicating to the Players that it is the most important issue that everything revolves around.
I guess a good analogy would be the President saying "yes, I hear your unemployed pleas and employment is my #1 priority, because we need a strong and healthy economy for a strong and healthy country", but then he submits military funding request Bills to Congress, so he can send more troops to Iraq, instead of economic assistance Bills, because we have to "stay the course and finish our job".

You all want to make a difference? You all want to get OUR agenda pushed to the forefront of their list of priorities? Here is how we do it. It’s a bit scary and a bit risky, but if we all pull together we can make it happen. Here’s how it will work…
This is a call to every single player in SWG who thinks the Dev Team’s decision to push back the combat balance and the GCW revamp a whole year, as well as leaving the core game we have now in shambles, to work their new money maker “Jump to Lightspeed” is unacceptable. Friday August 6th 2004, we will put SOE on a 30 day notice. Each and every single one of us will hit the cancel button on our accounts. We’ll still be able to play the month of August and see what kind of a response we get. I bet if the whole of the game got together and said “NO! We are not going to pay for you to test and develop a new game while the one we are playing now is completely broken!”, they would change their agenda really quick like. Imagine 100,000 canceled accounts. Take a stand! Make your voice heard! This is YOUR GAME! This is YOUR MONEY!
Let’s all send a clear message to the team. And that message is simply this:
“First, fix all that is already broken in this game! Give yourselves a solid foundation to build on. Next, fix the heart of this game, the GCW. Without it, there is no STAR WARS. Do these two things first, before anything else! Then you can worry about Jedi and JTL. Do this and your player base will love you for it, and the game itself will be infinitely better. Do it not, and this game is dead.”
So there it is folks. Send a message to SOE that enough is enough already. Fix our game now, or we’re saying goodbye. It’s a shame that is has to come to this, but there is no other real way for them to get the message. They have been ignoring us for far too long, let them hear you now!
I encourage all of you to take thisto your home forums and repost it there. Also, copy and send this out to everyone on your friends list ingame. Let’s all pull together and make them give us the game WE want to play. This is for the good of all, do your part. August 6th, hit the button.
Thank you all, take care.
Saddly, that is a good way to make SWG go Earth and Beyond on us.
