Maybe this has been brought up, but why not maek the village instanced, liek the corvette? I am "Glowing" (You have an ineer glow. The Force is with you.) I waied 2 hours in the middle of nowhere on Dantooine, then was told I have to do "tasks" (kill Dark Jedi Adepts) by a guild-mate that did this crap on TC. WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT???? Publish 10 and the Jedi QUests are the only reason I am playing until JTL, but if you can't do these quests right, how will JTL be???? Can my daughter get a job there. She is 2 1/2 years old. She might get some of this working better in a week.

Possible /bug

Tatooine, Bria server.

11:10pm. Doc applies 3hr buffs. Usual doc, no problems in past. HAM in the 3200's
11:30 Drink 2 shots brandy.
Complete two destro missions.
11:40 Loose connection (dial up)
11:45 reconnect. Buffs have dropped. HAM is back to 900's

As I am on a dial up account I lose connection every two hours. While I lose the little buff icons, the buffs themselves have always stuck. ISTR this used to happen back around Pub 6/7

I just want to thank the Developers of this game, for being prejudice and highly categoric when dealing wit hthese new trials. Thanks for catering to the whims of people that blindly grinded their sanity away to get you HOLO professions, and not worrying about those of us who never have an ill word, and just play the game that is given.

In case you didn't notice, it says open discussion in the topic title, and I am participating in an... open discussion. Gasp. What a concept.

And don't try a strawman on me. I didn't expect to log in and be a Master Dark Jedi with one saber for every color of the rainbow and more powers than the Emperor. I expected my shot at the village. I met the requirements, I expected my go. I thought the grinders would get their Jedi, bypass the village for the most part and everyone would be happy.

Instead grinders get in the village first, PLUS their free skill boxes (double reward) while I get screwed over with a 1-6 month wait, not knowing when exactly in that time I could get a visit. It's utter BS. The devs deceived us in the most cynical manner imaginable, and I say it's unforgivable.

This is the wrong thread to use for complaining about jedi 'gating'. There is a separate, FOCUSED thread for such activity, darthrotten. You are cluttering this thread with off-topic posts since there is a SPECIFIC thread DEDICATED to people like yourself with 'issues' like yours.

The harvester problem is several orders of magnitude more important than your FEELINGS about other players - this is a bug which has direct, profound, and widespread economic impact.

Your being miffed at someone because they got into the village first is inconsequential, irrelevant, uninteresting, and unimportant to the game economy and stability as a whole.

Please move your discussion into the appropriate thread where you will have the attention you deserve given to you. That would be very helpful to us all as well as being much more effective.

You can have your bug reports and I can have my valid complaints heard.

I'm not miffed at anyone except the developers and their lies, if you don't like it that's just too bad. I'm not interfering with you, don't interfere with me.

Several veterans in my guild, and long time friends since launch are also some of the most generous, patient and mature people I have known. ALL of them had hopes to engage the content after today's new publish and to finally have a roadmap to pursue Jedi. Some of these folks did a relatively long pursuit of holo-grinding and managed to keep their sanity and patience.

Someof them found themselves lacking today when they checked their FS, and went off seeking to complete a couple more themeparks.

Some of them were "glowing" and went out seeking the old man so they could access the village in hopes to finally sink their teeth into some content.

All of them have now logged out completely deflated. They left messages in guild chat that they pumped a bunch of credits into structures and are taking a break from the game for a few weeks after this huge disapointment of more time gates to reach the opportunity to enjoy content and a carrot that has been dangling for almost a year.

Why couldn't there be several villages to accomodate the initial large crowd? Talus and Rori could have supported this with ease in most galaxies. So many good people have just collapsed from exhaustion of emotion from this new set of hurdles and time gates.

And here I am......still the only Jedi my guild has ever had. Still alone, and unable to enjoy the game with friends.

I don't know what else to say, except good people (patient and mature people) have just logged out indefinitely.

I have to agree with you wholeheartedly, this is like if they released JTL and said everyone that got their copy in the mail pre release could go right ahead and everyone else would have to wait a few more days; but not sure "exactly" when.

its not fair to hold back content from PAYING customers period and other methods of delivery should have been explored. you make the masses suffer for your lack or forsight. and did i mention these were PAYING customers??? this is NOT additional content that was for those that paid EXTRA money. this was a feature content that was for no additional cost and for PAYING CUSTOMERS.

i have been playing since july, and have have never seen such disregard from SWG, even towards smugglers. this needs to rectified immediately

There's a quote about the original design of Galaxies that says it was too much like living the life of Uncle Owen and not enough like the life of Luke or Han Solo.

I think a lot of people here are panicking, and not reading correctly, or misunderstanding.

I think I have devised the very simplest method of thought, to figure out where you stand. BE SURE TO READ THE WHOLE THING THROUGH, and CAREFULLYor you WILL be confused again. It is as follows.

A) FORGET what you have done pre-publish 10. NO you people who have just unlocked, please dont start screaming. This is a chain of thought - just go with the flowa sec. So yeah - FORGET what you have done pre-publish 10. In order to get the old man to visit you - you NEED to be glowy. The way to achieve glowy, is through badges. Although the exact requirements are not defined yet, it is strongly believed to be based upon badges - namely a bunch on content badges ( corvette, theme parks etc and some selectlocation badges.

B) IF you use /checkforcestatus, and you are NOT yet glowy - then you do not automatically qualify for the system, UNLESS you had 2 OR LESS holocrons remaining, before publish 10, in which case, you do qualify, glowy or not. For those of you that were pretty damn close, but not QUITE there - i.e MORE than 2 holocrons remaining - here is the breakdown. You CAN neglect to pick up the extra badges to become glowy - and you WILL EVENTUALLY be invited to the village. However - it would PROBABLY be quicker for you to jusyt pick up the badges, and qualify straight away that way.

C) Right - now some of you hologrinders who got pretty damn close, or actualyl unlocked pre-9 , will be saying "what a load, we dont get anything". Well - in short - youre wrong. You are seeming to forget- if you have ACTUALLY UNLOCKED, as SOON as you get to the city - you will have enough xp, and enough force blocks unlocked - to go straight up to the initiate equivilent status. i.e as SOON as you unlock the village - you will get access to your jedi ( and , as far as I understand - after completing THAT test and achieving initiate equivilent - is when you will unlock your second character slot ).

So to break it down - 1) the quickest way into the village for ANYone by default - is to get glowy - with the exception of those who have unlocked already ( or were 1 or 2 away from unlocking ) who get auto entry. 2) the main source of reward for pre-10 unlockers comes WHEN you unlock the village.

Now - some more advice, following that very simple breakdown. Instead of arguing over which particular details are wrong or right, channel your anger ( im an imp, can you tell? ) and BUG THE DEVS into CLARIFYING this information, rather than screaming you have been screwed over or havnt or whatever. until this information has been CLARIFIED, everything is just each persons interpretation, no matter what school of thought they fall under.

Finally - even though I have explained to you to be calm, focus on getting another official response, and said unlockers DO get their rewards - dont get me wrong, I feel VERY sorry for our jedi-to-behere, who are having to wait for the old man. Personally - i think that extra 1-3 days must be AGONISING, and I see NO reason why these people couldnt be launched straight into the village - i.e startign the new system from the point where you go to the waypoint outside of the science outpost and are invited into the village. This woul dhave made PERFECT sense for those who have actually UNLOCKED. but thats another matter, and not directly my concern, as I myself have not unlocked.

Ok - thankyou for taking the time to read this post, I hope I have cleared things up for those of you who are confused. Last note - if yuo disagree with my interpretation, don't think that screaming at me and printing in HUGE font is going to make me change my mind. I have read the text OVER and OVER - EVERY time someone in this thread has pointed out something new, so i have taken most of the ramblings into account so far - and come to my own conclusion. If you think im wrong thats fine - but dont waste your breath telling me im wrong, because im confident ^^ ( plus - again - it just isnt productive - aim it at getting another dev response ).

/wave

May the force be with you all.

( Especially Ripley-J and Xodust - I feel for you, hope it works out ^^ )

Hmm where to start. Well I decided to start the quests right away with my Jedi since I knew he would be granted instant access to it. Even tho he only has a "faint" sense of the force its nothing major, just a quirk since hes ALREADY Jedi . I get to the village and speak to the first person I see (Whip) and begin his quest. Fairly simple search/destroy rescue/deliver missions until I get to the 5th villager to rescue. He loaded very close toa tree and I couldn't converse with him. I tried going back to get a new wp but Whip wouldn't give me one. I tried deleting the wp and still nothing. I submitted a ticket and logged on my main. Not long after I get a live CSR (I was expecting to get a canned response lol) who went to the wp I gave him and he verified that the villager was no longer there. Thank you CSR_PatrickM!! I relog my Jedi, get a new wp, finish the mission and recieve the sculpture piece.

Now for some questions, commentsand concerns.

-waypoints named "speak to the villager" don't clear upon completion and have to be manually deleted. This can be a bit of a pain if you have to get a new wp because you got the villager killed.

-villagers from the Whip quest need burstrun LOL. Taking them back to the village is slow but understandable.

-if you leave villagers behind (out of radar range) when there are no mobs around they die (those nasty Dathomir ticsI presume LOL)

-is this phase "gated" to only 1 quest? after dong Whips quest, 2 out of 3 of the quest givers said I was already busy or to speak to the elder (the third quest I cannot complete with my Jedi as you need master medic)

-on the topic of the medic quest, can I group up with one to complete it?

-one of the elders conversations describes a quest to fix a sensor along the east wall but I cant find it. is this bugged?

-i'm not looking for favoritism towards Jedi, but since we've already unlocked (duh!!) and are beyond FS, why can't we do ALL of the available quests in a given phase?

-my main completed 20 profs (19 to unlock), 6-7 of my badges are missing but I have upwards of 80+ badges and he has an inner glow. a friend of mine did 7 (?) profs to unlock (Naritus' first Jedi) withless badges than me andhe has a "faint" sense. is this intended for those that already unlocked?

Okay, so the community is outraged by the "gating". I was too... until I helped a friend go through the Warren today. If you want to see what the Village of Aurilia would be like without "gating"... just head up to Dantoine's Agro Outpost, and head over to the Warren POI. The place is a madhouse, over 200 players in there when I was. Everyone is dashing there to get what seems to be an important badge... just as everyone that is currently "glowy" would be doing, if the Village wasn't gated.

So, instead we get to go through it later, when they open it up to everyone and those who are not currently "glowing" have achieved that status by that time. Lag now or lag later. That's the choice.

You know what? I hope we're all overreacting. I just don't see it. But I hope.

Of course then it seems somebody's getting screwed either way, if the system prefers hologrinders then we casual players are screwed, if on the other hand the system prefers the first group of glowies, then hologrinders are screwed. Because either way we were never informed of the specifics, and we still aren't!

I happily wait for Blunderheart or somebody to clarify the situation.

Thank you to everyone who recently purchaced the Jump to Lightspeed Expansion Pack. We thank everyone for their patience while we used the last two push-backs of the release date to fine-tune the finished product by adding zero additional content, but really getting that shade of "Imperial Laser Green" just right.However...in our complete lack of haste, we grossly underestimated the number of people who would choose to use the new expansion packto...well...go into space. Little did we realize that many people wouldbe interested inchecking outthe whole "space" feature of the space expansion pack. As a result, the space servers have all simultaneously crashed... However, fear not! We have implemented an ingenious plan to safeguard our very expensive servers.Players will gradually be let into space over the next few weeks. The priority for getting into space will be based on an entirely meaningless graduated system. We had thought of tying it to, say, how many faction points you have if you're a faction pilot, but then we realized that made too much sense. Insted, we have tied it to how many Kaadus you have killed over your character's lifetime. We feel that Kaadu kill-count will be an accurate representation of your devotion to...um...killing Kaadus, and isn't that who we really want to have the best, most innovative content in the game? Players will be sorted into groups based on thier Kaadu kill-countbut not informed of their group.Theywill then be slowly let into space in order. However, they are encouraged not to leave space, as this will put you back to the rear of the queue and let the next person in.

We hope you enjoy Jump to Lightspeed and thanks again for helping make SWG the best, and most illogically-well-funded MMO in history!

I ran into a strange bug today. I surveyed for a new spawn of class7 radioactive and put a fusion on it. Then travelled on to check my Heavy Mineral Harvesters and emptied the hoppers.

Here's the bug: One of the hoppers had the radioactive in it that I surveyed for before instead of the steel that it should have harvested like the other harvies(!)

I was confused so I checked for the concentration of the radioactive which was 2% under the harvester so there is absolutely no way I could have "accidentally" harvested 17K of the radioactive (on a 2% spot I would get app. 375 units/24 hours at BER13and the radio spawn was fairly new so there'smost definitely no way that there was an error on my side involved).
