Is this a bug or intended new feature?
Why was it changed?
Why didn't anyone tell us it would be changed?
Why is there such a lack of communication about what is going on?
Akaara, what has happened is that when we put Wookiee armor in the game, we had to re-write some code so everything worked properly. The new batch of code fixes some unresolved issues, so in effect, what's happened isthe level of difficulty in socketswasn't working properly before and now it is.
We should have been more clear on the patch notes. For that, I apologize.
What I have been doing over the last few days is trying to verify the details and also to find out if the ability to get 4 sockets increases as you get closer to being (or are) a master. I want to make sure that since it's changed, that it works similarly to critical fails (except in reverse
). As a tailor climbs up the tree, theirchance to get 4 sockets also increases.

when is the top 10 questions going to be answered? (i thought this was supposed to happen weeks ago)
Well, the original 10 questions was something I did at the request of three of the correspondents. As you might guess, everyone wanted 10 questions. The thing is, I do the 10 questions on my own time, because time spent at my desk answering questions is time that I don't spend sitting in meetings representing player issues. Its a double edged sword. I had never intended to do 10 questions for everyone because thats 380 questions and a great deal of work and beyond the scope of one sitting.
Still, there is a lot of desire for them so I've been pondering a creative solution. My current thinking is that I'd like to do "19 Answer Wednesday's". Basically, I'd take half the professions one week and half the professions the next week and answer 1 question per profession. I still have to speak with Q about scheduling, but I think this is pretty manageable.

I am a female rodian and I can't wear my Stormtrooperand ATAT pilot helmets. The CSR basically told me "oh well". Is this as designed? When can I become a true Imperial?
Yes. Way back when (2001-2002), the community, Shug, Q and Holo had a long series of discussions about allowing aliens into the Imperial Navy. The community majority said, "no aliens in the Empire" and thats what the devs did for the most part. The trade-off is that Aliens could be in the Imperial Faction and do Imperial things, but always have to work harder and basically be "less than humans", and not stormtroopers.
With regards to the armor itself, many of the pieces can be worn by species other than humans, but not all pieces. Since aliens, for the most part, are humanoid, some pieces will fit, but not everything. In the case of Rodians, everything fits except the helmet. Along these lines, Trandos can't wear the boots and so on.
So you can salvage and wear some items, but not all items.

I recently read your post about some low level coding changes that will allow players to completely hide their online status.... please let your programmer know that there is, and will likely be, a trick to tell when anyone comes online... even if one is not online at the time the other person comes online... I speak of
/tip 1 bank
if is offline, then one will receive a mail that confirms the delivery of the tip as soon as logs on.... I doubt your programmer has taken this into consideration....
thanks
Thanks. I will pass along this information.

the player city I live in has quite a few vendors owned by people that have quit the game but left alot of maintenance in their houses and vendors... has anyone ever mentioned having the vendors de-register themselves from the planetary map if/when there are no longer any items up for sale on them? ....... the owner of the vendor could then re-register them when he/she got a chance to relist some more stuff
OR
there could be a time limit on all the vendors to automatically de-register...
either or a mixture of both of these would, I think, help alot with the empty vendors problem we all have experienced![]()
Yeah. Especially with the temporary removal of the 6 week check. I just spoke with JustG about this yesterday. I dont know what the answer is yet and its not likely to be an easy change, but I've reminded them that this is an important issue.

Not to be a prude, but why does everything asked to TH gets a response like:
"Im working on it."
"Im actively pursuing it."
You've asked the $64,000 question.
Because many of these items take a fair amount of time anergy to change and/or fix.

Did you forget about the poor bartenders? I'm reffering to the NPC ones who give cheap drinks and rumors. They're still giving rumors from Act II, when they were first implemented. Has someone been forgetting to update them?
Great question. I'll send this info along and see if we can get someone to look at this.

I'll check with Ood.

I'm working on it. Its been quiet because everyone's been coding and things are "happening" and fluid. I'll be starting on the Pub 8 Patch Notes for TC tonight.

Can we please get some type of acceptance to be added to anothers friend list??? This is prolly one of the only games that freely alows harrasment and grieving....
This might be something thats easy to address when they add the anon feature for friends list. I'll talk to the programmer and see if he can do it when he adds the other feature (which will probably be after E3).

Excuse me Thunderheart,
I am just wondering...
I know you said you would talk more about the jedi issues when you knew...
But at this point sholdn't the very basics be known? What is going to happen to legacy jedi? Is the revamp going to make jedi common? Would it hurt to shed just a little bit of light on the whole thing? It is really frustrating to be in our situation...
I hope to be able to release some more information soon. My current best guess is after Pub 8 goes to Test Center.
And the latest on the armor hole is that it should be fixed in Publish 8. We'll be testing the fix also when it goes to TC.

Have they started on the armor hole fix knowing that equipping a weapon creates the armor hole, and unequipping one's weapon eliminates the armor hole?
woohoo. i await the armor hole fix. ![]()
now... what about armor stat shifting?

Sorry for the added reply, but I forgot to include a link to the on-going thread in the GCW forum, located here.

You responded to my post!
*twitches*
I was getting worried that no one had taken notice of the tests that I and other players have been doing. thank you for taking note of the new information and passing it along, I'm glad it was helpful.
Were we by any chance close in our guesses as to the cause of the armor hole? I'm horribly curious, as I'm sure many others that posted in that thread are.
someone dial 911 i am having a heart attack. I received a response from the devs. Joking aside. I think the true problem TH is everyone is becoming severly dissapointed and bored with this game and with new MMORPG just around the corner. They hear of changes next publish then it gets pushed back and back and back and back. I think you can agree people have an expectation to have their professions fixed within over the year they have been playing the game.
People start to ponder if this game is going to make it and what can be done to save it. I hope you are succesful.

TH? Any chance we can get this armor whole issue hotfixed? Pretty please?
I asked about this. Sorry, but no. Its a low level code fix and could make everything too unstable. It will go to TC soon and run a gambit of tests...

thanks for replying TH, but I'm not 100% sure we are talking about the same thing............ people don't have to be citizens of a city for their vendors in that city to be registered on the CTRL V world map, and the 6 weeks boot will not affect the vendors' registration either......... although these are similar things, they have no direct affect on each other.... to restate:
IMHO
vendors should de-register when the items for sale on them drops to zero
and (independent of the above)
citizens should be booted from the citizen registry after not having been online for 6 weeks [but I think some people are experiencing some bugs with this, so of course that should be fixed first]
I'm very eager to see the P8 patch notes!
We're close and kind of on the same topic. There is this umbrella of issues of unused or underused server objects - - houses, mayors, vendors, etc.
Specifically, there are a few Merchant items coming up that this is part of. Its premature yet. Doc Savag is definately harassing me about this issue though

How about the bug that causes Shield Gens and RIS armor to shift special protections? Any word on the addressing some of the problems with RIS armor, i.e. being underpowered when compared to composite yet extremely hard to obtain? See armorsmith boards.
